With limited options in the suburbs I was excited to go to a coffee shop with good reviews. While the space is cute and conducive to coffee shop studying and people watching, it does not meet my most important coffee shop criteria: a good café must have good coffee. Not so here. This is basically starbucks quality. Next time I will try dapper and wise. They look like they can properly steam milk. I will not be coming back here.

I love this place so much. One, it’s good coffee /their matcha latte is delicious. Two, the wifi is reliable(particularly in comparison to AVA’s at Orenco… sorry AVA). Lastly, good ambiance. Fav coffee place in the west burbs.

Jeeze do I love this place. The atmosphere is calming which is one of the reasons this is my go to spot for studying. They have a vast coffee and tea selection, with tons of vegan options! The iced chai latte is probably the best thing I’ve ever had next to the tea latte. Food wise they lack anything vegan but have tons of yummy non vegan desserts and snacks. Overall one of my favorite places to come for a study date or just a delicious drink :)

So without a doubt this is the best cup of coffee in portland! Props to dapper and wise, and to the amazing staff at this café, everyone is so welcoming and warm. It’s like walking into the home of a really good friend. Lastly, a quick shout out to Patrick for always making a BOMB A** cappuccino!

One of my favorite coffee spots in town! They are so friendly and the chai lattes, Aztec mochas, and matcha lattes are my fave. Great atmosphere and art on the walls too.

Best coffee place for coffee, my man is a coffee addict and has had coffee almost everywhere in various places and this is still the best place we always come back to.

This is my favorite coffee place in Hillsboro. The atmosphere is great and the employees are genuinely happy and friendly people! The have the best cold brew coffee and their breakfast bagel sandwiches are a solid way to start your day. And the cinnamon rolls, oh the cinnamon rolls are heavenly. Very sad that we won’t be close to an Insomnia when we move soon!

I’m not quite sure why I just now got around to trying out this place, but at least I know about it now! I love this space! I love the look of it, and the baristas were really friendly. I met up with some friends for morning coffee and opted instead for a soy matcha latte. There is plenty of room and seating for groups as well as for people working/having their coffee on their own. Apparently, a lot of other people also love this place since it was crowded and loud. We need a few more Insomnia locations around here!

Being an IT guy has its ups and downs. The Ups: if something goes wrong with my PC(yep, both Windows and MacOS screw up for us IT guys too) I know how to fix it. The Downs: sometimes I’m the on-call guy and I get that 3am emergency alert that one of my big clients is down and thus the workday begins. So, this morning having been the latter case, 10:30 rolled around and this geek needs some go-go juice. A brief but welcome break in my day afforded me some time for a quick scoot through Insomnia Coffee. Insomnia is a nice departure from the consistent-and corporate-down-to-the-finest-detail big chains. Walking in, the distressed wood floor, mottled and eclectic wood panels(much of which are just cut up cabinet faces) and that-out-of-tune piano in the corner set a firm«We’re not Starbucks» vibe. Customer service is great, very friendly and definitely presents a «happy to have you here» feel. Going for coffee, vibe is nice, but let’s face it, when I grab a cup to go, it’s all about the next half hour – the drink itself. Here is where Insomnia shines. The coffee here is as good as that of the Insomnia on Baseline, which is to say it’s fantastic. Very smooth, really has that«locally roasted small-batch artisan» taste. The place is pretty hoppin’. At 11:00am on a Thursday, there were a solid 30 people in here, music pumping and lots of conversations going on. Probably not the best place to try to have a quiet conversation on the phone, but reasonably comfortable tables and chairs if one, perchance, wanted to hang out and write, say, a Unilocal review on the place. Great place, and one I’ll definitely return to.

Really good coffee for the lack of good coffee choices in the area. I am continued to be completely unimpressed by the service of especially the baristas. I would give 1 star if the coffee wasn’t delicious. Funny to me that a coffee shop can be so snotty in Hillsboro.

Found this place while on my morning errand trip, when I needed some caffeine. Their coffee is awesome. Great ambience and warm staff! Would love to revisit.

First thing that struck me was the space. Good use of space, there are a few different types of tables to sit at, and a nice area with some couches. It gave off a really nice rustic library feel with the use of cool lamps. The coffee was good as well. The cappuccino was great and i was able to get a refill and try out some of their drop coffee. I came on a Saturday around 4PM and the place was packed, i had to sit outside for a few minutes before some space cleared up. Im not sure how busy this place is but it seemed like its very popular so be sure to get here little early to find some seating. For those warmer summer months though there is bench seating around the shop!

It was clear from the beginning that quiet conversation wasn’t going to happen. The noise hit me before anything else. So not the place to head to for negotiations. However, the barista was exceptionally polite and friendly– not just to me, but to my 88 year old grandmother who is somewhat deaf, slightly grumpy, and only drinks coffee. Not lattes or mochas or anything that involves steps or foams. Just coffee. He was more than happy to help her out, which I greatly appreciated. The coffee is a house brand, and very smoky. Not my favorite, but my drink was made well, which made up for the flavor I didn’t care as much for. Sadly, my normal coffee destination has delicious roasted beans, but the drinks are often made sloppily. Anyhow, this is your place if you like nice people, loud music, screaming babies and smoky coffee.

Great space to get some work done, lots of tables, retro cool vibe and some great coffee. Staff is very friendly and answered all my questions without any«better than you» attitude that I get from a lot of Portland«baristas». Attached to Dapper & Wise Roasters, so you know the coffee’s fresh. Bought some whole beans and brewed at home… strong, smooth flavor with a clean finish. Nice.

Coffee, is always consistent. Staff is always fast and happy to be at work. I very much like the new location and the atmosphere. They did a good job with expansion and remodeling from the old location. It can get busy at times, so prep for some noise and short wait.

I bought a bag of coffee bean of Tortoiseshell Blend($ 14) here and brewed it at home from an auto-drip coffee maker and oh my, how I wish I bought another bag. They use/sell the coffee bean from next door — Dapper & Wise Roasters. The coffee bag isn’t air tight shut, which I wish they did, but the bag left a nice strong coffee aroma without being opened. I ordered a small cup(12 oz) of coffee while I was there too and lounged in their comfortable couches. It has such a nice inviting atmosphere. The coffee is brewed in variety and there are sampling cups next to each brew on the side(in front of the bar) and you can take a sip of each one before you make your commitment. I sampled most and came to really like the coffee bean I bought.

I came to grab a coffee and study, and this place is definitely packed with people doing the same thing! I am in LOVE with the Black Forest Mocha. It had the perfect amount of raspberry flavor and chocolate, and wasn’t too sweet! We sat on a small table with two sofa chairs. I kinda wished the table was a bit lower since the sofa chair dipped so far down. It’s a 20 minute drive from where I live, but if it were closer, I would frequent this place more often!

One of the best coffee shop! San Francisco, Vancouver, Seattle then Portland… I’m not being bias when I say the West coast knows how to roast and make our coffee! Friendly service, awesome roastery, great urban décor but most importantly smooth as heck espresso! Aloha to our barista both days we were there!

This place is WONDERFUL for getting work done in a vintage, classy space. Wifi is always reliable, seating is ample, and the furniture is so cool with mismatching armchairs and counters and whatnot. Coffee itself is delicious as well – I tried their Aztec mocha and it was delectably sweet with a hint of cinnamon, not too much of a fiery kick. Another time I tried their iced dirty chai, but that was rather too sweet in my opinion and the chai’s sweetness overpowered even the espresso’s boldness. Plus there was a bunch of grainy chai remnants at the bottom of my drink, which was not pleasant to sip. Last of all, prices are a little more on the expensive side(4.50 for a 12oz mocha). But I still come here because I know I’m getting quality, quality brew and the opportunity to slide out my laptop and work contentedly in a beautiful space. Thank God for Insomnia to bolster the west side of Portland’s dismal coffee scene!
