We love Texan BBQ, and I was a little curious how Maine BBQ compared to Texan and Florida BBQ. We were sorely disappointed when they said we were out brisket. However, the people were so nice, and I was already set on BBQ, so I decided on the loaded pulled pork sandwich. It was okay, not outstanding. However, the service was really good.

The staff were very nice and the atmosphere very low key. My salad with salmon and dried cranberries was excellent. My son’s mac n cheese was fine, but none of us liked the cajun corn side and there wasn’t much for vegetables not cooked with pork. My husband said the ribs were all right, but not the best he’s had.

Wife and family were hungry as we were getting a late start on lunch. Looked up Pig Out here on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. The food was delicious, the selection of various sauces on the table enhanced the taste. The service was exceptional. They even made a grilled cheese sandwich for my daughter that wasn’t even on the menu, thank you Candace for your above and beyond efforts. When we are in the area we will be eating here again. Would recommend finding this place(as it is a little hidden) as it is well worth visiting.

With a thorough search of the greater Belfast area we decided to ask the info area the whereabouts of Pigout BBQ… After a few giggles we were told its where the BBQ banner is… the second we approached the banner the aroma of wood smoked meats filled the warm summer air, Nice! BBQ done right in Maine can be quite the challenge to find amidst the killer seafood that can be easily sought after… Pigout has nice smoked ribs and brisket, the sides are good too, also the boiled peanuts are a must! Their waitstaff very impressive we were well taken care of the minute we walked inside, so if your in the great city of Belfast ask where Pigout BBQ is try the combo meat platter any of the well prepared sides but dont forget the boiled peanuts too. Had lunch for 6 today at Pigout BBQ. All of us were very happy with the quality of the food. The service was friendly but haphazard. Our server was sweet and apologetic about how long it took her to get us waters, beverages, and order taking. It was a busy day full of impatient tourists. You have to know if you’re from«the big city» that the service in small towns tends more toward Bad News Bears than Downton Abbey. Chillax and expect things to take a while. Be bemused, not annoyed about the lack of efficiency you will find in many places. Lots of places like this come and go in a season, and half the staff(at least) is seasonal and barely starts to get the swing of things before the season ends and a new crop gets trained the next summer. If you can keep your pants on and be patient and friendly, you will enjoy a delicious meal here. We will be back, but will arrive before we are starving as it’s likely that our meal will take a while to arrive, and the silverware will probably come about 5 minutes later.

My family and I traveled to Belfast, ME this summer and while there stumbled upon a little BBQ restaurant near the water. I was hesitant to eat there because I rarely eat meat but thought I would take one for the team. I am so glad I did! I told our waitress my problem and she suggested I try their tacos with the baked beans instead of meat. They topped the beans with cole slaw and it was yummy! I also ordered a side of greens(awesome!) and sampled the potato salad, one of the best I have tried! I wish I could make it like that at home… Don’t forget to try their desserts, the blueberry cobbler and pecan pie were the perfect finishing touch to our little southern meal in Maine. I would highly recommend this restaurant, I am originally from the south and this place reminded me of home.

Having spent a lot of time in BBQ country, all over N.Car., Ky, Va., Ga, Nashville, Memphis, K.C. Etc I’ve had Q in all the best places. After moving here from Ohio, I gave up hope for finding good Q. Unfortunately, these guys have proven me right. After trying it now 3 times,(I give all places at least 3 tries) I resign myself to keep looking for good Q. Sorry guys. I really wanted your Q to compete. Not yet!

In a world of lobster houses, I was thrilled to find some southern BBQ. I had the sampler and I think my favorite was the beef brisket. The other thing that blew me away was the friendliness and hospitality of the owner. My family loved it!

First visit and won’t be the last. Tried the Pig Bomb and Pig-Out Sampler. Both outstanding and more than enough for the two of us. Homemade sauces excellent and the sides delicious. Service also excellent. Put this place on your«must-try» list

Great BBQ. I had a full slab of ribs, loaded potatoes and cole slaw. All great. My wife had combo platter with ribs and brisket very tasty. She also had Mac and cheese delicious. Such a small gem to not be missed on a trip to Belfast. Look forward to eating here many more times in the future. Great place, great service and outstanding BBQ. Missed out on pig candy this trip but will definitely get it on next visit.

Stopped in Belfast for lunch en route up to Bar Harbor — we did a tasting at the Marshall Wharf Brewing Co. and they recommended Pig Out for some tasty BBQ. So glad they did. The woman who helped us was super nice and her great attitude and helpful suggestions got us even more psyched for the delicious meat fest we were about to indulge in. I got the brisket sandwich and my boyfriend got the pulled pork. Both were phenomenal. We got the potatoes side, which was also delicious. We popped out of the shop and ate on the grassy spot next door overlooking the harbor. One of the best meals of our Maine coast trip! Over all, great customer service and an absolutely slammin’ meal — stop in in you have the chance!

7-18-2013 Had a pork barbecue salad for lunch. Amazing. Mixed greens with cucumber, carrot, dried cranberries, walnuts, the shredded pork on top and a lime vinaigrette. Enough for two people but you almost don’t want to share. Absolutely delicious!

Loved it. The pulled pork sandwich is the real deal – absolutely delicious and tender, and full of flavor. Who would have thought you could get real Southern BBQ in Maine, but the owners hail from Florida and they know what they’re doing. The brisket and ribs were also very good, and we gobbled up three of the mac N cheese sides. Special praise for the wonderful, friendly service. Only complaint: this is a southern restaurant so sweet iced tea only – no unsweetened– and the lunch defines rib-sticking so we didn’t have room for dessert.

An off night, or just dry dry dry? We just got back from dinner at Pigout BBQ, and I’m sorry to say that I’m sorely disappointed. What was promising to be a great meal turned into a serious disappointment. We ordered the 3-meat combo(ribs, chicken and pulled pork) for $ 14.95. The ribs were very tender with great bark and a deep, smoky flavor. But the meat was a bit chewy. Unfortunately, the pulled pork was completely dry, and the chicken(thigh and leg) was also dry and chewy. The macaroni and cheese side was also dry – the cheese sauce had turned into almost dry cheese curds. The best part of the meal was the choice of sauces. The South Carolina Mustard was my favorite, but the rest of the sauces each had character and flavor. And you really needed the sauces to moisten the dry dry meat. I have a feeling that we were eating yesterday’s BBQ. Because if this is what you call fresh out of the smoker, then Pigout needs to shorten its smoke time! Given the array of other places to eat in the area, I’m not willing to give Pigout another try. Sorry. Good smoke doesn’t make up for bad cooking.

Great BBQ! The pulled pork — excellent! The ribs — excellent! The baked beans, mac & cheese — excellent! Even the garlic bread was something special. Sauces were all solid. The aroma is fantastic just walking down the street. The people behind the counter were extremely friendly and made me feel that they were actually glad that I stopped in. I can’t wait to go back to Belfast just to visit this place again. Extremely happy and will gladly go back again.
