I was absolutely surprised at how good the food is here! From the outside it looks like a fancy gas station. BUT! Let me tell you the order process was very smooth. The food was all great. The ribs are the best ever and the BBQ sauce was so good. I will be taking the 45 minute drive for dinner again!

Came here the other day because I always pass by this location and I was craving bbq. It was pretty late, almost 9 pm probably. Most bbq places are already closed, but this place stays open pretty late The prices were cheap but once you start adding everything up you’ll probably walk out spending about $ 9 – 12 like I did. Double meat sandwich and French fries got me a 10 dollar Bill. The sausage was awesome. Spicy, fresh. The only complaint is the brisket was a tad dry but due to it sitting under heat lamps I can understand. The bbq sauce they serve is good too. Smother your sandwich and don’t look back! Lol

The place was a little bit tasteless, but the food is really good and is cheap so… Why not?

Out of the BBQ restaurants that I have tried in Houston, this is the best so far. What makes it the best? Two things… 1. The atmosphere. It was spacious and well decorated for a BBQ joint. 2. The portion size of the toppings on my baked potato. I have noticed that the BBQ joints around my area are very stingy when it comes to toppings. I want a lot of topping!!! Anyway, I was very surprised and pleased with the amount of toppings that they provided for my spud. On the other hand, I was a little let down by the sauce. It came in a really small container and wasn’t the greatest. I either want my sauce to be sweet or vinegary. This was more peppery. It wasn’t terrible by any means, but it wasn’t my favorite. However, like I said, this is the best BBQ place I have tried so far in Houston.

HOLYFREAKINGCOW let me tell you about their freaking«brontosaurus» bone ribs!!! The St. Louis ribs are HUGE, full of meat, luscious and extremely juicy, super tender and full smoky deliciousness! I first had these when a drug rep brought our office lunch and what they brought were brisket and these ginormous ribs, lol. I don’t really like beef and never eat brisket, but let me tell you how tender and smokey their brisket was; I actually ate like 3 slices! I returned because of the ribs plus they offer 2 types of sauce, one being a sweet one that I am totally enamored with. The price is great considering how meaty their ribs are. I have seen people ordering brisket po boys and they are freaking stuffed! This is definitely my go to spot for ribs; I’m actually kinda wishing I had a bone right now, lol

Rustic atmosphere and a nice meal make this place a worthy contender. They have a couple new menu items such as the spicy link sausage and sweet BBQ sauce that are mmmm, hmmmm good. Since I’m very particular about BBQ ribs, I haven’t been adventurous enough to try theirs. However, the chopped baked potato with brisket is delicious and worth every penny. The staff is friendly and portions are filling. Ample parking is available in the lot out front. Orders can be called in and they do custom cooking for meat orders.

Some of the best BBQ in town! The food won’t give you indigestion like a lot of other BBQ joints. The quality and flavor of the food is top notch!

Was really disappointed in this place! I’ve driven by several times and always smell the most amazing aroma of fresh barbequed meat, so we decided to go a couple weeks ago. We went around 8:30PM and were the only ones in the restaurant. I wasn’t in the mood for too much meat, so I got the chicken tenders and fries. The chicken tenders were dry and just not good — I’ve had better in a drive through. My boyfriend got the sausage and chicken and it was OK — I also got a side of sausage and it had almost no taste. When we asked what they do with all of the leftover meat(there was tons of meat when we were there at night), they told us that they just save it for the next day. I’m not sure what other restaurants do, but I was a little turned off knowing that all of that meat was going to be served the next day… and how long as some of it been there? The staff was so kind and attentive, but the food just wasn’t great.

Had a baked potato with sour cream, cheese, no chives, and brisket. The brisket melted inside with the potato, very soft. It looked like a brisket pie. It was very good to eat without it being steaming hot on your first bite, but just the right amount of hot. Very filling, overstuffed. The con was the texture of both the brisket and potato when it got slightly cold.

The food was so bad that I doubt they even have an actual smoker(electric or real) on the property. The sides almost certainly came out of a can, the sauce was more like gravy than sauce, and the meat was chewy and dry. And to boot, it wasn’t even cheap. I would not recommend going here ever. Take your business down the street to Hickory Pit if you want somewhere just as close, or travel a little further to a Pappas or Goode Company for good BBQ.

Good neighborhood BBQ place, deserves at least 4 stars here on Unilocal– not sure why it only is showing 3 stars right now. Good food, the only thing I think would make this place 5 stars would be if the cashier lady wasn’t always such a grouch. Cheer up lady.

This place is so clean, has friendly staff, and oh my gosh the food is the best. Baked potato with beef is delicious, sandwiches are delicious, burgers are delicious.

Tasteless and dry where it should be savory and tender. :(Sorry to say, I agree with others, the bare bones look does not signify good food. The biggest tell was the tasteless BBQ sauce(how is that possible?) – try it at the condiments buffet before you decide to stay. I had the three meat sampler, green beans, and a baked potato. All kind of just sad.

I was craving some good Brisket and have been wanting to stop in. Well, I will say I won’t be back. I showed up after the lunch rush with no one in line and stood for 10 min waiting for someone to take my order. Cashier had to yell for someone multiple times, and finally after she went back someone strolled up. I Ordered the Wednesday Brisket special w/3 meats and 2 sides. Brisket: dry as a bone by the time I sat down, fell apart with every attempt to pick it up with a fork. It lacked flavor and juice had to use the sauce.(Sauce was watered down and lacked flavor) Sausage: greasy and chewy. It was defiantly low grade mass produced and lacked flavor. Chicken: decent flavor but little over cooked. Green beans: tasted straight out of can no flavor & no attempt to doctor them up. Coleslaw: one bite and I said no more. They served it from the cold service area but was warm and even after sticking my finger into it to test temp it was not cool at all. I was concerned with how warm it was and how long it had been at that temp. Was not impressed with it at all. With a pretty high bill for a drink, lunch special and bag if chips(chips for the road) I was not impressed one bit. Also had to enjoy my lunch with who seemed to be an employee or owner having a very loud discussion with others in the middle of the dining room. Didn’t attempt to ease drop but all I would have had to do was pay attention and I would have known why he was discussing business in the middle of the dining room, he wasn’t yelling but I would say as a business owner you don’t discuss business loudly in front of customers. Everyone has a different idea of good Bar-BQ and in my opinion I won’t be back.

I recommend. One day I wasn’t feeling an appetite but hungry nonetheless. Their baked potato with beef hit the spot. It made my friends Chipotle burrito look like crap. So good.

I ordered the St. Louis Ribs with sides of potato salad and green beans. The ribs were good. Nothing to write home about though. They were a little bit stuck to the bone, certainly not falling off. They offered me sauce, and I said yes. Then I noticed by the soda fountain that they had traditional sauce and sweet sauce. I would recommend not taking any sauce at the cafeteria part and putting some on yourself, since I was given very little sauce. The best part about the ribs was the sauce, which I would give a 4⁄5 stars. The potato salad was above average, and the green beans were average. I really like that they have unusual sodas, like Pepsi, A&W Root Beer, and Crush. Nothing special about the service, it’s just a cafeteria style so there’s not much service to be getting. Overall, I give it 3⁄5 stars. I think it’s a decent barbecue place, and the best in Bellaire that I have tried so far. I have tried Hickory Pit, which I did not like, and I will try Charlie’s soon, and update this review saying which one is really better! There are definitely better barbecue places in Houston though, so that’s why it gets 3 stars.

I really wanted to like this place… But it’s bellow average. The only thing I liked here was their BBQ sauce. The ribs were decent, but not enough for me to return. Brisket was pretty dry, not very flavorful either. Sausage was a bit too salty and not cooked enough for my taste. Pulled pork was decent as well, but nothing to return for. Portions are smaller than other BBQ places in the area.

The environment is dated, nothing really special about it but you don’t go to BBQ place for atmosphere anyway. The BBQ? Mediocre. You’ll have better somewhere else, and I would not sink any money into this even if it was for a quick close bite. Your meat will likely be from the day before(or before) and not very fresh. Anyone saying this BBQ is good hasn’t eaten at Killens or Gatlins. Sauce: 1 – 2⁄10

11÷15÷13 — Never judge a book by its cover. When you enter the parking lot, you think«this place has to be good». Its a stand alone structure with an old vintage look. Tin roof, smoke stack, cedar and limestone finishes. Unfortunately, it all goes down hill from there. I scored Brisket Bar B Q a 71 out of 100. This is Bum Steer BBQ Smoke: Large stacks of hickory behind a CMU block smoke house with rusted smoke stack reaching to the sky. Looks like an Olyer and all the signs of wood fired BBQ. This is the first wood fired Bum Steer rating. Since I spot wood fire 5 points, this is worst than most gassers. Brisket: Good. A ¼″ smoke ring beneath a smokey chewy bark. Tested tough of tender. Even the fat was tough. It dried out fast. Need a good set of teeth for this brisket. Use the sauce. Ribs: Fair. Tough and chewy. Had a good rub, smoke and salty pork flavor. Need a better set of teeth for these ribs. Maybe they should go all the way and sell jerky. Use the sauce. Sausage: Fair. A fine ground salty pork link. Casing was chewy. Tasted like greasy Bologna. Use the sauce. Sauce: Fair. A thick clumpy tangy brown sauce. Flavor was mild buttery tomato soup. Everything here needs sauce but they need a new sauce here. Bring your own.

2 stars is what this place deserve. It wasn’t terrible. I was able to eat most of it. The quality of the meat wasn’t great. Their new sweet bbq sauce was actually decent. It’s just didn’t fulfill my cravings for brisket. Since Gatlins was closed and Rudy’s was too far, we came here instead. If I were the driver, I would’ve gone to Rudy’s or some other bbq place. If you know me, I’m willing to drive for great food.
