I am not a huge Chinese food fanatic. My husband loves this place. We usually order double combo carryout and get a huge amount of food. I have dined in on several occasions, ordering the buffet. All being pleasant experiences. I think buffet is a pretty good deal for the selection you get. Their sauces are on the sweet side. I try not to go with anything breaded. It is battered thick. It is a bit greasy and heavy. But, we don’t eat here enough for that to be a deterrent. Their food is decent, especially for the price.

Me and my girlfriend bought dinners there last night and the pork fried rice was spilled and the beef rib smelled even worst. Had been there in 2013 and order the same thing and was fine then. But the inside was really nasty and smell bad this time.

Food smells like stinking feet. And tastes worse. How old is that dried up cubed chicken they try to pass off as teriyaki chicken. They have some kind of chicken dish that is mostly onions. Egg rolls nothing but been sprouts inside them. The dumplings are really nasty. and they have this weird deep fried unbre4aded chicken on a skewer. Stay away form this nasty place.

This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants and I have going here for 25 years. It is like Chinese American comfort food. The buffet is always good. That is the only way to get my favorite, the cracked pepper chicken. But all the other dishes are good as well. It’s also a great bargain when ordering takeout, specifically a Double combo meal, which can feed 3 people. I highly recommend and choose to go here when ordering Chinese.

This is one CREEPY shithole! YIKES!!! I placed a phone order for my vegetarian dinner and it was like getting barked at. The woman/man who took my order was really loud and rude. Huge language issues trying to place a simple order. I’m glad I ordered it to go! It’s an outdated pagoda building in a shady part of town. If a place can smell greasy, this is the place. Not a place I’d ever stay to eat. You walk in, and you’re met with a huge assortment of sad, scary dolls for sale. WTF?! Some dolls covered in plastic, some not. Definitely NOT expecting the satanic doll army upon arrival. This qualifies as décor? The«hostess» was NOT pleasant and screamed at me in broken English about getting a table but I politely told her I had a take out order. She was rude and slow. I waited patiently and paid. I ordered sautéed veggies, veggie fried rice and egg rolls. In my opinion, ALL were barely edible. Fried rice? More like soy sauce fried rice. A few scrawny pieces of green onion does not make it vegetable fried rice. Egg rolls were cold and chewy. Veggies in a weird tasting sauce. How is this passing as food? Are people in Detroit so jaded when it comes to food that they accept anything as edible? Damn you, low standard Walmart crowd!!! Quit Unilocaling! LOL Yuck. That was one nasty, brutal meal. Thank God I don’t have to eat here again. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this place. It makes Panda Express seem like a royal meal. FAIL.

I live in town and this is our go-to Chinese place. The food is consistently tasty and plentiful. I’ve ordered from inside and the drive through and it’s amazing how fast the food arrives and is piping hot. Everyone is very friendly and the place is always very busy. Lots of families enjoying the buffet, especially the ice cream station. There’s an amazingly clean fish tank that always fascinates me. They have a small bar with a few tables. If you need lots of good food fast, this is the place.

Here’s a rule everyone should follow: Never expect great things from a place with a drive thru. Don’t get me wrong, its good for what it is. cheap chinese food and you get a lot of it. It could use a bit of upgrading inside and out but the food isn’t bad at all, plus you can’t beat a decent buffet.

I love china king. I’ve been going for years. The sweet and sour chicken is amazing. Good egg rolls. Good fried rice. I recommend getting take out. It’s honestly better than eating there. But of course a buffet won’t taste as good as take out considering it’s out for hours, But the buffet is always warm. I like to go to the buffet for lunch because it’s a lot cheaper. I would recommend china king to anyone.

Great Price! Great Food! We always do buffet. They are always making sure small buffet is full. Also egg rolls have shrimp in them, I asked about them, and waitress went to kitchen and got me egg rolls without seafood– no extra cost!!! Affordable drinks(alcoholic and non) Yum Yum

Only had carry out. Drive thru window is clutch. Little more than Typical Chinese. Worth your time tho.

They have a drive-through window! Service is always great and the hot mustard is superb. Perfect for those days when you just don’t feel like cooking and are super hungry.

Food was okay, a little bit dry. I carried out during lunch time from the buffet and it had an okay selection. The woman at the front that greeted me as I walked in was pretty rude. She didn’t really speak to me as soon as I requested to do a carry out. But at least it was a quick and cheap Chinese lunch.

The lunch buffet was kinda small, but the food was good. For $ 8.25(with drink) I certainly managed to get full. It would get four stars if they had a bigger selection. The wait staff was quick. My drink never went empty, and that’s a biggie for me.

I’ve been to nearly a dozen Chinese restaurants in my lifetime and I have my favorites and this one is probably my second favorite local Chinese restaurant. The food is cheap, but you do get a lot of it. It’s also greasy, but I’d always expect to find greasy food at a Chinese takeout restaurant and personally this is one of the few occasions I do enjoy greasy food. I’ve been going here since I was a kid so maybe 50 times and most of the time it has been really good. It’s never undercooked nor overcooked. I highly suggest any of their combination plates(I“ve tried over half and their all delicious) along with their friend dumplings, wontons, and egg drop soup. Their chicken is also superb. I’ve never had bone, fat, or cartilage in it like you may find in even some higher up restaurants. The only reason why I will not give it 5 stars is that the buffet is just okay. I would honestly recommend combo plates or meals. It seems most people here are giving bad reviews on a time thing where they only tried the buffet. It’s not a horrid buffet either, but probably my least favorite out of all the buffets I’ve been to. Get an actual plate then decide how it is. I’ve been there a couple of times where is wasn’t the cleanest, but most of the time it is pretty clean there. The only bad food I’ve had is their shanghai shrimp. I don’t like it when it’s still completely shelled.

I struggled to give this two stars and the only reason I did is becuase it is the only buffet local to Belleville that I have been able to find without trudging into AA or somewhere else across Michigan. The place isn’t kep up well on the inside and when you see things on the front end that make you go hmmmm — you gotta wonder what’s going on in the kitchen. For a while we continued to frequent this place — but there is only so many times you get clearly day old food and poor quality that you can take. If you do go here — I will say the buffet is something you can almost stomach because the food is a bit more fresh — but the take out is terrible. All I can say is try it and you will know what I mean. Also — the food is greasy, meant on the main dishes is tough and may not actually be chicken. Buyer beware. You may deal with the after effects a day later.

This place has such a bad review on here and I’m trying to figure out why. I have lived in Ypsilanti most of my life and went to Van Buren Schools. I don’t understand why this place is considered so yucky! My whole family and a large portion of my friends really like China King. We often go for the lunch buffet since it’s significantly cheaper than eating it for dinner time. Though they do add more menu items for dinner, shrimp for sure. I really enjoy lots of things off of the menu: general tso’s, green beans, mushroom chicken, sesame chicken, crab rangoons, fried rice… The list goes on and on. People tend to be really picky about their chinese food preferences. Everyone is different in what they like and expect. Hopefully more CK lovers decide to join Unilocal

I got some take-away from here the other day and it made me completely agree with Liz. The food in the buffet may be decent but the carry-out food is pretty much disgusting. «Shanghai Shrimp» turned out to be shrimp deep fried in the shell. Shrimp in the shell can be very tasty, the shell offering an add to the flavor and a nice bite without tasting like you’re eating a rind. But when you overcook it, like this was, you get rubber that’s not only inedible but cannot be peeled to try to get to the shrimp inside. This came as a «combo» with fried rice that smelled and tasted nasty, like old and unclean oil. For some reason the egg roll in the combo didn’t have that same old oil taste, and was edible. Sauteed string beans were also way over cooked, limp as though they’d been lying around for a while. A mixed-meat Lo Mein was surprisingly tasty, though, with at least as much meat and vegetables as noodles. I guess the answer with this place is to only get the buffet, if anything, where you can see the freshness of the dishes before you try to eat them.

This has got to be some of the most plentiful yet utterly inedible food on the planet. My husband and I got carry out one night and each of our boxes felt like they weighed five pounds. The food was a grease fest though. Overly coated and covered in sticky thick tooth achingly sweet sauces. The pork fried rice tasted like fast food grease that has not been changed in awhile. It had an oddly burnt slimy flavor. The teriyaki beef rib was chewy and fatty. The sesame chicken was so fried I could not even tell there was chicken hiding in the overly crispy coating until I struggled to chew it. It was also quite sweet. My husband had fried shrimp that tasted off, obviously it was straight from the freezer type but maybe they had let it thaw at some point or something. His sweet and sour pork was in an almost jelly type sauce that tasted just wretched. I was not expecting much but was really let down at any rate. They have a buffet that locals seem to love. Sorry but endless disgusting food is not my personal cup of tea. If you go you might want to have a cardiologist on call and ipecac on hand just in case.
