I think I’ve figured this out. King County doesn’t allow food trucks to cook meat on site, so Buns is forced to cook their shit beforehand. This explains the crap burger. I blame the law!

Pros: — Buns are from Macrina Bakery — Plenty of fries Cons: — For a cheeseburger, extremely overpriced — Adding bacon costs over $ 2 — Service is slow Overall, an average burger that wasn’t worth waiting in the rain for.

Nothing(special) to write Unilocal about, yet here I am anyway. Today was my second experience with these guys, thinking that maybe, just maybe, the first was just a bad day. Nope. First, their online menu doesn’t match the menu they show up with. Prices are 10%-25% higher on most items, and as much as 40% higher on add-ons. None of the sides were available except for fries. Second, they couldn’t seem to get their oil hot, so it took FOREVER to get the fries that came with my burger, meanwhile the burger sat getting cold and fly-molested for nearly 15 minutes. Third: Truffle Fries? Ya, right. Synthetic truffle oil, maybe, but there’s no way these guys are using natural Truffle Oil, and it shows. Which brings me to the burger. There wasn’t a single ingredient on this burger that I couldn’t buy at Costco, including the«Buns sauce». The fact there wasn’t an option to specify how it’s cooked is a tell-tale sign of a mass-produced frozen patty, which is FAAAARRRR from«gourmet» in my mind, which leaves the question in my mind(and the hole in my wallet) trying to justify $ 10.(or more) for a plain burger and $ 3. for an extra patty. Never again.

I dream of their Truffle Fries! Seriously. The other ‘best fries’ in the US are at places like French Laundry. The food quality is outstanding here. Consistently great. I’ve been going here for years and have followed them around the Puget Sound as they’ve grown. I’m so glad they’ve managed to stay on for 5 years. I still love them!

Waited in a 6 – 7 person line for close to 30 min with about that many waiting for their food, seemed like a looong long time to wait for a burger. Like the other reviews, bun looks toasted but is cold, so immediate disappointment there. Patty does look like a frozen Costco burger, doesn’t taste like one, but definitely looks like one. No one wants to eat what looks like a frozen patty, they need to find a way to change this. They were out of Ketchup, out of sweet potato fries, guy ringing everyone up kept re-using the same order #‘s and pissing off the cooks. Prices were $ 2 – 3 more than they are online, so i’d planned to pay $ 8 and ended up paying closer to $ 11. Overall disappointing and def wont be back. They’ve got lots of work to do.

It might have just been an off day for this truck, since they were experiencing electrical problems, but I was rather disappointed by the food here. I ordered a veggie patty, which is far from their specialty, but if they’re going to charge 75 cents extra for me to not have the beef patty, I expect the veggie patty to be delicious. It wasn’t anything to write home about. Probably could find a similar-tasting store-bought patty. I got super excited for the truffle fries while standing in line, but when I finally got them and dug into them, I didn’t get even the slightest hint of truffle. I insisted that they forgot the truffle until I got down to my last fry, and the most subtle truffle taste came out. The folks in the truck were really friendly, so I’ll give them props for that, but the food took way too long for the amount of people that were waiting, and in my opinion, $ 13 for a mediocre burger means I’m not itching to return.

Bun was cold, burger patty looked like it came from Costco frozen pack, they forgot our bacon, the truffle fries didn’t have any truffle oil, they don’t have garlic fries anymore(garlic too expensive?)… don’t have poutine. What’s the point? This should get a –1 star.

Meh. Not sure I would go back to Buns. We were at the Bellevue food truck round up and thought we’d give ‘em a go. Kind of wish I hadn’t now. We paid $ 24 for 2 burgers and fries. I was expecting a better burger, it looked like a preshaped Costco burger. We got«The Cheesy» and couldn’t even taste the cheese! The menu said it had Beecher’s Flagship cheese, which has a pretty signature taste. We couldn’t even taste it or tell there was even cheese on the burger! We could have gone to Red Robin, had a better burger and paid less. Unimpressed. I really hate giving bad reviews, but all three of us felt that it was an overpriced average hamburger that I could have made better at home.

Buns is ok — I was expecting more though. I guess with all the food trucks around and being wowed by many of them, my expectations have become higher. Buns is a good standard burger, but nothing incredible and made me want to come back for more. I’m glad their burger price includes fries but it’s also on the spendy size for a standard burger.

Disappointed. Burger bun LOOKED toasted, but didn’t taste that way and wasn’t warm. Fries were overly salted(and I like some salt on my fries). Other than that it was an average burger at best. The rating says it all… Meh. I’ve experienced better. Not worth $ 13.25(I tipped $ 2).

The good: The burgers are decent, the best part is the Buns special sauce. The truffle fries with garlic aioli. YUM! The bad: It comes on a plate without a cover so if you’re not going to stand by the truck and eat, it’s difficult to transport. It’s expensive for what it is. I’ve eaten here a few times since it’s convenient and I’m a sucker for garlic fries, but the cost is pretty high.

Was able to try Buns at the Queen Annes Farmers market. The stand focuses on meats that are more naturally grown, which is an important and welcome addition to the menu. A basic burger costs about $ 10 dollars with tax and does not include fries with the price. Fries cost about an extra 2.50 to add. For the price, $ 10 is a little high for a burger with no fries. It would be nice to see them include a small order of fries or chips to come with the burger to increase the perceived value of there offerings. The service is friendly; however, it took a bit of time to be noticed and when they did notice someone was wanting to order, the service was very basic and nothing to remember. The chicken burger I had was full of flavor, tasted high quality and was a great meal, but in terms of a Unilocal rating, it was just A-OK, would not say I was a fan and would not return simply because there are to many other choices in the area.

Over at the proposed development parking lot in central downtown, I spotted this amongst the common area of food trucks rotating here. Lunch last week: «Sorry, we’re out of the sweet potato cinnamon(?) fries…» =/ Well, I shoot for the Birdy(chicken?) and fries. About half past noon and decent wait. Great stuff. I just wish some food-overboard casualties could be minimized.

The most accurate can describe this place is: completely pointless. The burgers are very basic and there is just nothing special to note about the food, it’s no more than a Costco frozen burger patty and resembles something you would get at your uncles backyard BBQ in the 1980s. Not that there’s anything wrong with your uncles cooking, it’s still food, its completely edible, and it’s there to eat, but nothing more. It is insulting that they parade this around as gourmet food and then slap a $ 10 price tag on it. Complete waste of time. Just another mediocre product trying to capitalize on the food truck craze. Call it «Uncle Joe’s Propane Burgers», charge $ 4, and throw in a Capri Sun… then we can start talking.

I ran across this place over at the Crossroads Mall and thought it would make for a good lunch, but came away disappointed. After waiting about 15 minutes for my $ 13 order of a burger and side of fries, I got a plate that initially looked very nice. After a few bites, though, I was bored. Everything was bland. The truffle fries were cooked ok, but totally lacking seasoning; I only got the slightest hint of truffle oil. The homemade ketchup was equally bland and it hardly seemed worth the effort to dip my fries into it. Bun? Bland. Patty? Bland. The patty itself was the worst offender. You can tout your«100% natural, grass-fed beef» all you want, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s thin, dry, and previously-frozen. When I hear the words«gourmet burger,» I think of a thick, juicy, seasoned, hand-formed patty, not a hockey puck. The Beecher’s cheese was a nice thought but there wasn’t much of it. The bun was actually not bad in that it was slightly toasted, had a nice light consistency, and didn’t fall apart. Overall, I just think it could have been so much better with a real patty and better seasoning all-around. There are so many better burger options in Seattle for the same price.

The folks at Buns just can’t get it right. They think they need to tend to each order, in the order they came in. Get a clue! If you have a handful of burger orders and an order for fries comes in(and the fries are sitting there ready to go) get the darn fry order out! I shouldn’t have to wait 15 – 20 minutes for fries just because you’re waiting to complete the burger orders ahead of me. Absolutely ridiculous — figure it out. Again, nothing very special about the food. Buns fails again.

Yay for food trucks! Had a cheeseburger and truffle fries. What did I make of it all? Really good bun! Maybe that’s why they call themselves… Buns! The fries were good, but not truffl-y in my opinion. The homemade natual ketchup was special. Tasted like tomato paste moreso than ketchup. It’s pretty costly… close to $ 20 for a burger and fries… at a food truck. Could probably get a much better burger & fries for that price(like at Palace Kitchen!) but wasn’t a waste of my money or time.

Meh is more like it. The burger was okay, I thought it would have somehow been more magical because I have higher expectations and had better burgers at the rodeo. Why tempt me with truffle fries when no truffle is happening? The fries were good but you called them truffle fries and I could detect no truffle, only fry. I would eat here if it was parked in my way but I won’t drive somewhere to find them, to me, that’s the litmus test for good street food.

I’m a big fan! But who doesn’t love some nice soft buns? ;) There’s nothing better than sitting on the couch and receiving a hot fresh burger from a lovely local joint. Having never tried anything from Buns before, I took my first bite with high hopes. Good thing, too because the burger was great. I had asked for the Fancy burger. With pickled onions and bleu cheese on it, I bet I had some fancy breath afterwards too! The crinkle cut sweet potato fries were as tasty as could be and the homemade ketchup was the absolute best I’ve ever had. Good thing we took home two little containers of it! Now we’ve just got to find something to eat it with.

I went to their Wednesday Eastgate location. Quick summary: yummy. I got the Cheezy minus lettuce(too healthy). The brioche bun is delicious and makes a nice change from the collapsing squishy buns you normally find. The patty was tasty and just the right size. The extras(red onion, pickles and cheese) were good too. In particular, the cheese is real and not plastic. It melts properly on the patty. Best of all, the special sauce drips all over the fries. The fries were good. The truffle oil adds a certain je né sais quoi. They are very crispy(double fried perhaps) Definitely a cut above the usual Burgermaster or Five Guys. Next time I may try the Ferrari(with a touch of balsamic vinegar)
