Ordered beef fajita. Steak is tough like rubber. Told the server she said it is always like this and didn’t ask if we like to change the order. Don’t order extra salsa, they charge you $ 2. Manager tried to make an excuse for the beef and gave us 50% off the fajitas. Never coming back. Some servers English is poor.

Super friendly and efficient place. I love how the booths are laid out. Nacho Grullense with chicken or ground beef are awesome. Parking is tight though with 6 – 8 spaces, so be prepared to park on the street or up to 50yds away.

The food overall… GOOD Prices for drinks… UHHHHH not as good Came here a few times now and the staff is always great and food tasty. You get some good salsa along with slaw for chip dippin’. The menu is vast and they have a lot of good options. Nachos are delish and the wet burritos were good as well. Lot of food left over! What we found a bit odd though was that there are no prices for alcoholic drinks posted ANYWHERE. The first time around I ordered a large standard margarita… nothing special and taste was so-so. Little did I know it was $ 14. The next time I ordered the Jefe Margarita… this thing was in a standard glass and boy oh boy was it good. But again, little did I know it was $ 14. More than I wanted to spend on a drink that’s for darn sure. I’d come back for some eats but likely not for the drinks. Overpriced and there’s no actual bar to sit at.

Great food, and service in a family owned and operated restaurant. Tucked away and has a small parking lot. Does have a bar, and amazing drinks! Hands down one of the best Mexican food restaurants in the area! AND They have a great vegetarian menu!

Great drinks, great food, love this place! Way better than Aztecs, Ricardo’s, and all the other local Bellevue places!

Hands down the best, most authentic refried beans I have ever had in a restaurant. Great food, great meal, not American-style Mexican food. Loved it!

I read the reviews about how pricey this place is but also how good, so I ordered a Mexican pizza. I find that this is a great basic dish for showing the calibre of restaurant. It was terrific! Rivaled only by Poncho’s Atlanta. It’s was far less expensive than I anticipated so I thought the prices were reasonable. Buoyed by my success I ordered one of the margaritas I read about and there was my mistake. The margarita cost more than my meal and wasn’t even top shelf! Also I expected the more smoothie-with-alcohol type as I requested it frozen. It wasn’t. It was strong but the cheap alcohol made it a little difficult to swallow(do you see what I did there?). It was sour which is awesome(I hate overly sweet mixes) but the flavor wasn’t balanced and tasted like they dumped sour mix on to cover the skank alcohol maybe? Still, I will never fault a restaurant for giving me too much booze in my drink. Ever. I thought I would take it home and reblend it with fruit but they wouldn’t give it to me to go. I am assuming there is some ridiculous local law preventing this. Again not their fault but that of the moronic Puritans that settled this country in between burning witches. Mostly my 3* review is about the high and unexpected pricing. Great date place(he pays and you both get wasted — it’s a win win!).

Their macho burrito is like anywhere else but try the fajitas and/or the carne asada tacos. Great stuff. This is me and my wife’s favorite Mexican place in the area. I love that it’s a family owned restaurant. It’s usually husband and wife running the place with a cook in be back. Their tequila is a little on the pricy side but it’s top shelf and the margaritas are very tasty.

Good salsa. Good food, though quite expensive. Especially given the service which is slow and inattentive. The margarita was subpar though the michelada was right on the mark — again both too expensive for the location/service/ambience.

Delicious, fresh food in a festive environment. I come from Los Angeles where I developed an aggressive snobbery when it comes to Mexican food. This place makes the grade. I recommend the ensalada Jalisco or Guadalajara, and their tacos. I could eat so many tacos.

Excellent food and yummy drinks. It is a casual low key atmosphere and family friendly too. Be sure to ask the waitress to check with the adults(not the kids) before removing food. I would have loved to have taken my son’s left overs home, especially since he barely ate anything at all.

I just left this restaurant. And I want to go back! Such amazing food! I love love Mexican food. I’ve been to many restaurants and this was well worth the money! I will definitely be back. And I’ll bring more people :) I ordered a chicken dish with white sauce onions and mushrooms… And I wanted to lick the plate lol. And the flan at the end yummy!!! The owner was such a sweet man. And we learned that his baby was born the same day as ours a month prior. I will dream about this food.

A decent Mexican restaurant in Bellevue, if a bit expensive. That’s probably the only issue keeping me from giving them five stars. One look at the menu kind of surprised me with a lot of the items being around sixteen dollars. The lunch special menu wasn’t much cheaper, although that wasn’t even available to me because I was there on a Sunday. I ended up finding something cheaper, ordering it, and then liking it. Chips and salsa were served without delay. The waitress was nice and helpful, and there were less than eight minutes between the time of my ordering and the time of the food’s arrival. Hooray for quick service, especially if the food is delicious! I ordered two enchiladas($ 13.50) that came on a plate with beans, rice, and salad. The enchiladas themselves contained ground beef, hot sauce, lettuce, and onion. Such great Mexican food! The bathroom was well-kept, and the restaurant in general was quite presentable for being at the end of a strip mall populated by a bunch of Asian restaurants. As a final note, I was watching the game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers during my lunch here. The score was 13 – 0 as I was leaving, but the Seahawks managed to pull through by the end and win 22 – 28. Not that it impacts the restaurant’s quality, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Lets be honest… I am basing this first sentence ONLY on the location… This is one of the better mexican restraunts BUT that is compared to the HORRIBLE ones we have on the eastside. There is no way this place is the best mexican food as described in the reviews below. It is just another tex mex joint. Its sad that being from a place where hispanics are the main cooks in american, asian, italian etc restaurants they can not get their own food right. My family is from mexico so I have tried REAL mexican food and this is about 1⁄6 in comparison. Any place that drenches their beans in cheese is not authentic. Any place that drenches their burritos, enchiladas etc in sauce is not authentic. Any place that has a COMBO, is not authentic. Any place that serves chimichangas, is not authentic. If you do not know what real authentic food tastes like you shouldn’t be rating this as the BEST. The owner is very friendly. She is a good server and very attentive. The other servers are also very attentive. The male owner makes weird awkward jokes sometimes but ehh who cares. Now, I would really like to point out that this place is beyond expensive. A plate of enchiladas for $ 15? Disappointing. If it were quality I were paying for then I would be okay with that. Everything is over priced. My daughter loves tortas but paying $ 10 for a bread roll topped with small lump of meat is not worth it. The meat quality is good with NO flavor. The salsa is not really salsa. Maybe tomato sauce? The pico on the other had is very good. I enjoy the chopped up cabbage, jalapeño dish on the side. Makes up for the bad salsa. Horchata is gross, do not order At the end of the day this place is decent. The better places in the Bellevue area. I would settle with Chilango taco truck tough. I would recommend their shredded beef if your ordering something stuffed. Like, the mole enchiladas. This place will not be around for long so anyone who enjoys it feast yourselves now. This location has never done a business good and Casa Grullense will not change that.

I’m writing here for all the 8 people that were with me yesterday for Happy Hour. I had arrived at the restaurant at 5:35PM and the Happy Hour ends at 6PM. Make sure if you plan to get Happy Hour, that you validate the time with these guys because they don’t know what time it is and may end up charging you full price. The owner didn’t want to deal with it so he comp’ed my tacos in the end. — Just a warning. The time that was wasted on argument was worth more than the tacos so I ultimately lost that battle. Time wise, here is an example of how slow they were on service: In total, asking for the bill and being able to leave, we had waited more than 1 hour. We didn’t believe it so one person actually stop watched the last person’s card giving to being able to sign and it was 18 minutes just for that! They had listed drinks on the menu that were not available(XX Amber for example) Quality of foods would be compared to Tex-Mex places so if you like Tex-Mex, you should be good to go here.(They do miss having some kind of proper salsa to liven up their dry tacos) None of us will ever visit this place again as well as tell our friends to go elsewhere. There are way too many options in the area to deal with the poor service and mediocre foods. If you are looking for authentic Mexican foods of quality and service, drive down the street to Taqueria El Rinconsito. If you’re looking for good Tex-Mex it is worth driving elsewhere as well since the time you waste here will not equate to driving further away. Conclusion: * Mediocre food(Compared to other Tex-Mex) * Extremely poor service * Owner is a nice guy actually and he tries hard so perhaps he will staff better and have better attention to detail to fix service issues * Very long wait

This restaurant was somewhat named after the owners’ hometown of El Grullo, located in the western part of Mexico’s Jalisco state. We enjoyed some very good dishes. The staff was smiling and friendly. However, a couple elements of the service were a just a bit off-kilter. Over dinner, Penny and I discussed the recently announced plans of the megacompany that we work for, to move the bulk of their IT department from Puget Sound to both St. Louis and Charleston, SC. Penny was told her group would be moving to Charleston by the end of the year. I’d say there’s about a 60% chance I’m going to be told to move to St. Louis, sometime in the next year and a half. I’ve lived in the PacNW my entire life, so it’d be a definite change living in the Midwest. But it’s something new, and experience tells me that change often turns out better than expected. JP says he will come with me to St. Louis. That support will obviously make the move much easier, if it does come to pass. We ordered the Queso Fundido as an appetizer. For entrees, Penny asked for Camarones Diablos and I the enchiladas. The salsa for the chips was particularly rich and delicious. It was nice too that the chips were warm. We sipped Negra Modelo on draft. I also had a shot of Patron tequila, served in a salted shot glass with a wedge of lime. We were dismayed that they brought out Penny’s camarones at the same time as the queso fundido appetizer. And, the accompanying tortilla dish had — count ‘em — just two tortillas in it. Really? On the other hand, they brought us additional tortillas(but once again, only two) and more chips and salsa at no additional cost. The chorizo portion in the queso fundido was very generous. I thought I detected rosemary in it, so Penny decided to grill the owner over the chorizo’s spices. The owner indicated that the chorizo contained only oregano and that it was made on the premises. Despite the hint of rosemary, it was still quite good. I thought the diablo sauce for the camarones was outstanding. With just a hint of sweetness, the sauce was delicious. My two enchiladas were served open face, with ground beef, then cabbage, stacked on top of the tortillas, that had been dipped in diablo sauce. The enchiladas were excellent. The Mexican rice was very good, far better than your typical Mexican rice. I also liked the refried beans. We caved and went for dessert — churros and fried ice cream. The brown-sugared churros, served with splashes of whipped cream, tasted fine, but were a little on the tough side. The fried ice cream(two scoops) was vanilla ice cream coated with what seemed a corn flake-based shell. The ice cream was served over a deep-fried«taco» salad bowl that had been squirted with chocolate and strawberry sauces.

Bellevue honestly isn’t the 1st place that comes to mind for good Mexican food. The place even looks like a generic establishment in some random strip mall. But wow, this place delivers. Parking is available in the strip mall outside. The inside is painted bright orange, which makes gives it that nice desert feel. Wi-Fi is available, but the key is the longest random password I’ve ever seen. The owner let me take a photo of his modem. Service is impeccable. Special mention here. As appetizers, they give you complimentary nachos with salsa and pico de gallo. Tasted home made. Nachos were warm too, so I think they also make it in house. As for the entrees? The portions are HUGE. My friend ordered the fried tilapia and there was an entire deep-fried fish on his plate. Poor little guy. I had the pulled pork tacos. The meat was a little dry, but the sauce was. Surprisingly, my friends and I didn’t get gassy at all after eating the beans. But we all fell into a food coma. Next time I want to wreck myself, I will definitely be back. Recommended.
