I have lived here for awhile under the Avalon Management group. While this is an older complex which comes with it’s own set of challenges, Avalon did their best to fix things or at least respond to requests. Enter the Essex group, and this place went from average to terrible in a matter of moments. Doors stopped opening because of the key FOB, parking lot issues, package pickup became impossible. While it is understandable that new management will go through complications, the Essex group was flat out rude and highly unprofessional. I had asked about getting something fixed 7 times, and the assistant manager and manager give me some bogus excuse. The maintenance issue is very serious; when they did finally come in to fix one thing, they broke something else, and just left it there, along with printed-out service requests from other apartments. Some requests were ignored for 2+ months! When they re-did the carpets, they left a bunch of nails on the ground both in the hallways and garage, which is not awesome if you have a dog, or a car and get a flat. I finally moved out at the end of my lease, not only because of all the issues, but also a rent increase of $ 250. Good location, moderate rent, but poor management.

Highly unprofessional staff! On numerous occasions I’ve been treated very badly. They have no sense of being responsible and professional. I’ve been living here for the passed 6 months, and I’m happy with the apartments n locality. However the office staff have been very rude and impolite. On numerous occasions, I’ve had issues with parking spots which they’ve assigned to multiple residents carelessly. When I enquired about it, they kept telling me it was none of their fault. I had to sit down there n resolve the issue myself! Which was them assigning the same spot to multiple people. They didn’t even bother to apologize! N this has happened to me twice! Terrible terrible customer service! Another major problem is with packages. They’re highly irresponsible and have no sense of organization. Overall, terrible management.

The office staff are unprofessional, they forget things they say they will do, not getting back to you on important matters. For instance, they forgot to call me when they got a new garage key fob to replace the one they gave me that didn’t work, meanwhile I’m fighting for a spot in visitor while paying for underground … if I hadn’t been in the office to address another issue that day and happened to ask I don’t know how long I would have been in visitor parking for(parking is $ 80 a month and this is an upscale residence in a downtown core without other places to park and visitor is constantly full …). I’ve had numerous other problems with the office staff, a few which have cost me considerable time, money, and frustration. You can read a more detailed review that I wrote on G+: You can see another reviewer there mention that the staff have issues with packages as well … we have no other way to get our packages I don’t know why it’s such a big deal for them to receive packages and give them to you without huffing and puffing about it like you are some kind of profound inconvenience burdening them with some kind of ridiculous request. It’s a standard apartment service, and one that I would expect to be efficiently run at a highend rental property such as this one, and they act like they are doing you a favor for finding a package that was delivered to you earlier that day … Bottom line is that the office staff make a lot of mistakes and don’t take responsibility for their mistakes deferring to other people in the office rather then rectifying an issue, they act as though they don’t represent the company. The manager and assistant manager have both made mistakes performing routine services they provide, costing me considerable time, money and frustration. I have never dealt with this level of incompetence in customer service, I didn’t even know this level of incompetence was possible(especially from adults representing a multimillion dollar property that rents to upper middle class clients.) Just … save yourself the headache and take your business to somewhere where the office is properly run.

We chose the apartment for it’s floor plan and convenient location near my work. We neglected to look at the available internet providers, that was a mistake. Shortly after moving in, the building was acquired by Essex, who renamed it to «Ellington at Bellevue». Among other things, the new staff has removed recycled boxes from the dumpster to place them outside our door and complained about how this building receives too many packages. I would not recommend living here unless there were some serious changes in the management. Edit: The staff have since contacted me about my review, which I have left in tact above. They have now stopped the practice of putting recycled boxes back outside of your door and say that they are talking with another internet provider about possibly providing service to the building. I’ve given them an extra star for their response and will give another if something actually comes from their promises of another internet provider.
