I met up with a friend last night: we both love sushi & it was our first time going to Kiku(just two of us, arrived at 5pm & sat at the sushi bar). We asked the Chef to choose for us & he prepared some great selections. Our favorite was the amberjack tuna, but we also had the salmon, seared ahi & unagi. I think that the unagi is some of the best that I’ve had outside of Japan. Both my friend & I agreed that we will definitely be going back soon.

In the beginning, I’d like to say that I’m not the big fan of fish, and I don’t like to eat fish, but this restaurant changed my mind. I gave it a try and it went great! We ordered the lunch bento and chicken katsu curry. The salmon in the lunch bento was very juicy and delicious! Also if you don’t like fish just like me, you can also choose chicken katsu or beef curry instead. The price is pretty decent and the food’s quality here is quite good! The service were great, too!

Their sushi and roll portions are extremely small. You will end up paying double compared to other places to get a decent meal. Each piece of sushi is the size of your 2 pinkies putting together. We ordered a dragon roll and it came out the size of half roll(6 slices) for $ 15. Nothing special here.

I somewhat recently started working in the area and have been scoping out tasty restaurants for lunch on workdays that I can walk to. Kiku has been on my radar as some place that fits in with the kinds of food I like. I decided to walk over, today, and finally give them a try. Unfortunately the budding romance has ended swiftly. Walking in, the place appeared to be hopping. Lots of lunchtime diners. The woman at the front saw me and went to go deal with something. I don’t mind waiting to be greeted while people are dealing with necessary things. However, time kept ticking and I kept waiting. Many servers went past, some appearing to see me, but nobody greeted me. One woman actually came and stood at the front desk and was busy printing out receipts, but completely ignored me. After at least 10 – 15 minutes of waiting to simply be greeted, I decided to cut my losses and leave. Had anyone acknowledged me I would not have minded waiting, but nobody bothered to let me know that they knew I was there. I cannot speak to the food since I never got to the point where I would be able to ask to be seated. Everyone eating seemed happy with their orders. My review and star rating is simply on my experience there, which was sub-par. On a happier note, there is a lovely little café called 12 Baskets Café right next door.( ) I walked in and was greeted instantly. The workers, I believe Kenneth was the one I dealt with, were extremely friendly. He answered any questions I had and I had a great lunch. I’m going to write a positive review for them given the stark difference in experience and customer service I had with them after my unfortunate Kiku Sushi escapade.

Had a business lunch scheduled and my associates wanted Japanese food, so we chose Kiku. I gave it 3 stars for a couple of reasons. First, the servers were in a real hurry. The place wasn’t crowded, but they came back in a short period of time even though we asked for more time twice. Second, while we were talking, they started to exchange the soy sauce bottles on the other tables. There were only 10 people in the restaurant but they seemed to really want us out of the place. Third, once we were served our food, the wait staff didn’t come back to give us more tea or rice. In regards to the food, I had the bento with sashimi. The fish was fresh and tasty. I had teriyaki salmon and tonkatsu with it. The tonkatsu was juicy with a crisp crust. My associates had a variety of sushi which they said was excellent. I’ll try this place for dinner to see if the service is the same or better. Recommend? Yes, as long as you don’t mind being rushed.

Came here with a craving for sushi and none of the nearby sushi joints had particularly good reviews, so we just chose the closest one to our hotel. We assumed that all sushi is $$, but boy… \\ FOOD/DRINK QUALITY: I chose to order two rolls, the California roll(without tobiko) and the Roseanna. The rolls themselves were fresh and tasty, but man… they were pretty pricey but I was expecting to a full roll. Instead, I got four pieces of the Roseanna and a few pieces of California. It was definitely not the right amount of food for the $ 20+ I paid. I think the only people in my group that were full after the dinner were the ones that ordered the $ 35 bento box, and even they had room for more afterward. We honestly went to McDonald’s afterward because we were that unsatisfied. I’m not saying the food is bad by any means, but it was definitely overpriced. \\ SERVICE: The service was perfectly fine. They took our 14 person group without a reservation, dividing us into two tables and splitting our check accordingly. The food came relatively quickly, and the waiters were amiable. \\ ENVIRONMENT: Seemed like a nice ambience for a date. It was a clean, spacious Japanese restaurant. There was a weird burning smell near the end(which we took as our cue to leave) from what we later discovered to be the blowtorch. A little offputting, but other than that, it was a pleasant dining experience(if you ignore the price).

Great service and good menu options. They have toro sashimi on the menu, which a lot of places don’t have, so that was a bonus. Good prices too, and the service was fast!

Bad service, bad behavior. The food was ok, but one of the lady’s service is hella bad, and I left over a to go there and call them to ask. they said they throw that to garbage then hungoff the phone. I was just pissed off.

I went there today and ordered apparently something boiled with tofu and beef. It was really bad, the beef and tofu were too overlooked while it has too much onions and soy sauce for no reason. The thing that pisses me off the most is when I ordered a sashimi Togo. They had us waited for so long but at the end I happened to left our food untouched at the restaurant. But hours later, when I called them back and tried to collect our food. They told us the food was already dumped to garbage and the tone of the lady sounds extremely unpleasant then hung up the phone. This is what got me mad the most. F**** this place.

Do not order chicken katsu, Bad old chicken burnt with cold Rice and served with kare rice instead of veggies, Rude lady with another older guy servers that bring wrong food to wrong tables. I guess the new owner doesn’t care how bad the food and service is. I will not go there again.

I went here with my family for my birthday. They had the most amazing birthday ice cream treat I’ve ever seen, with three different flavors of ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, and two different flavors of mochi — it was an art to behold. As for the rest of the menu, I really appreciated that they had some different options than I am used to seeing at sushi restaurants, as well as most of the classics. The value(price to food quality) was exceptional and the service was very good as well. I will definitely when I’m in the area.

Lunch.. We’ll be back. FOOD: 3.5. All three of us had the bento lunch @ $ 13. No complaints. SERVICE: 3.0. Note: Policy is to take max of 2 credit cards per group. :-( AMBIANCE: 4.0. Seating at sushi bar or tables. Tables are arranged in way that provides more privacy than most restaurants.

Great sushi, friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere! My wife and I went here for the first time tonight and instantly felt at home with the very friendly ladies working. THe sushi was great also, many unique and classic items to choose from. I think we just found our new favorite sushi place:-)

The new larger location has definitely made the my dining experience better. It wasn’t busy on a Friday evening but considering it is located in an area with more businesses around, lunch is probably their busier hours. I got the special black cod bento and enjoyed my meal. The black cod was pretty good, as well as the tempura. Presentation of all the food was good, even down to the bowl of rice. It shows that the chefs cared about the food and their customers. It is a bit pricy considering the bento only consists of three substantial items: black cod, sashimi, tempura. The meal also came with miso soup which was also good, not too salty and the right tempurature. The rest of the items in the bento box were pickled veggies other soft cooked items that didn’t have much taste.

First time here. It was okay. When I walked in at 4:50 I was told they dont open until 5. I was seated at table and waited for my friend to arrive. We ordered 5 rolls to try a variety and its not the best nor the worst sushi I have ever had. The service was good and we left happy.

I’ve eaten at Kiku Sushi four times in the new location. I just got back from having dinner there and have to say it was my favorite meal in any sushi restaurant anywhere in the States *and* Japan. I had the Chirashi Bowl and it was amazing! It was so colorful, filled with delicious fresh sashimi, little bits of seaweed, ginger, wasabi, lemon, shiso leaf, marinated shrooms, egg triangles, generous portion of ikura, and even a little baby tako. It was quite impressive. The service from our waitress, Natalia, was excellent. She was very friendly, answered all my questions about gluten, and brought us steaming hot green tea when we first arrived. Excellent chirashi, excellent service, easy parking, and an excellent meal!
