This place is a solid 3 stars. On one hand it does have a wide selection for bento boxes, and you can get your gyoza, teriyaki, katsu or tempura fix here. But what’s lacking is flavor and quality. He fried foods had too much batter and were also neither hot or fresh and the fish quality is poor. Portions are on the smaller side despite higher price. I’d rather go to crossroads mall for bento boxes rather than this place!

Some of the off menu food is really good, but I don’t know how to get it if you’re not Korean. Here’s a conversation a Korean friend of mine had while we were there: K-friend: We’ll have the Nagasaki Udon Server: You mean the Nabeyaki Udon? K-friend: No, Nagasaki. It’s not on the menu. Server: We don’t have anything like that. Server: Wait, are you Korean? K-friend: Yes. Server: Oh, ok, one second. *server disappears to the back, chef appears* *lots of back and forth in Korean between k-friend and chef* *15 minutes later, amazing udon appears* I’m thinking of recording my Korean friend next time this happens and then trying to surreptitiously play it back later so I can pretend to be Korean.

There will always be a special place in my heart for The Bento Box, as it was the location of my first date with my boyfriend. The service is friendly, and the food comes out quickly. Prices are a little steep(two people can easily spend $ 50+ on lunch and $ 70+ on dinner). Their menu is pretty large with lots of different food options. I wouldn’t say the sushi is the best I’ve ever had, but it is pretty darn good. I’ve never had to wait here for lunch or dinner, which is nice!

We stopped in about 4 pm and from the front it didn’t looking promising but we never had a bad experience at a Bento Box. Only one person in there and we were greeted immediately and asked to sit where we wanted and they brought menus immediately. We both ordered the Bento Box combo — one with CA rolls and teriyaki salmon and the other with CA rolls and teriyaki chicken. The California rolls were fresh and the teriyaki was very good. Good sized portion for $ 13.95. As we ate the place began to fill up. I would recommend this Bento Box

I have been there twice. The first time they served me stale rice sushi and the second they burned my vegetable tempura. Don’t go there.

Potstickers, Sushi and Chicken Breast Teriyaki OHMY! I love the thick teriyaki sauce here and for fast food the sushi is pretty darned good. I like it. Not the best in the world, but certainly works for me.

Went in with my hubby and it was unimpressive. My hubby ordered the spicy chicken bento and it basically tasted like a regular spicy chicken that you order from all regular teriyaki joints around town… nothing special. I ordered the vegetable Donburri and I wasn’t happy… at all. It was just a bland dish that I could’ve made at home. The so called vegetable Donburri had practically no vegetables… just 3 broccolis and some shavings of carrots… oh, but tons and tons of onions. We also ordered the Seattle sushi roll, and that was actually good… tasted fresh and delicious… but it was expensive! The total bill for the two of us was $ 30…I could’ve had a fulfilling meal going to the ramen place at the Crossroads and pay a lot less too! For a regular teriyaki place, the Bento Box was a disappointment, both in taste and price. Will not be returning again… been there, done that.

Came here for the fist time so excited it was a totally let down. Chicken katsu didn’t even have any dipping sauce and afterwards husband got really sick.

Loved it! I had the Bento Combo with spicy chicken and California roll. Would go again in a heart beat. The menu is great with variety of items to choose from.

Staff is very good and got us seated really fast even though it was a busy afternoon. Food tasted good and they have a large selection. Also like their concept on build your combo bento box. I felt their sushi was much more rice than fish. Over all good experience.

3.5 stars for a place like this seems fair, but it’s not the rating I’ll give. Well, only full numbers of stars are allowed on this site, but I’m going to be grumpy and lean toward the low end. The food is okay, but the prices are high and the portions not that big. I generally give positive reviews even to restaurants that are just okay, but not this time. For lunch, I went with a bento box combo($ 11.95) composed of two choices from a list. It seems like you’d be getting a lot for this deal, but they are pretty stingy with how much food they give you. I got a miso soup to start with. Barely any seaweed or tofu in there. Mostly, this was just empty soup. My bento box came with a tiny slice of salmon teriyaki, four pieces of sushi that barely filled me up, a sparse amount of salad that didn’t help much either, three pieces of gyoza that were similarly useless, and a moderately-sized clump of white rice. It’s pretty pathetic when the best part of a meal is the white rice. Redmond has a ton of great restaurants. When that’s the case, I can’t be one of those people blowing fifteen bucks on lunch every day. It’s nice to have some authentic Japanese food every once in a while. But when that happens, I expect to not be left hungry afterward.

Came here for lunch with my gf. Appears to be owned by Korean people. We each ordered a bento box lunch special. I got the shrimp tempura and my gf got the tonkatsu. Both came out in a good time and tasted alright. But I did have an empty water glass for most of my meal unfortunately :/ Updated: came back for a quick take out sushi dinner. Called ahead and arrived there 15 min later hoping the food would have been ready but unfortunately they had a question about my order and waited until I came in to start food… The sushi is okay but expensive. For that same price you can go to a real sushi place and get a better sushi dinner. I would only really come back for lunch

Bento box for 13 $. Tasted good but it was a bit too pricey. Probably would not go again.

it’s OK overall The people seem to be friendly and give effort but, the food quality is just too meh for me. The main issue is that they traded in quality for speed. The meats are all precooked bland so they can give you the food quickly. This takes away from actually infusing the flavor of what you ordered into them. I have gone here several times to make sure this was the case before I made this review and they are at least consistent. The curry is ok, but premade so the carrots and things inside are hard as if it was cooked to quickly so they had the ability to reheat when you ordered them. Same goes for the meets. Just bland meet with the sauce on the side for you to add to.. but the underlying blandness is still there because of that. Same goes for the curry over the choice of meat. I am going back today to try the katsu since it actually was made to do that(beseparate from the katsu sauce) and there is no way they could have predone the Katsu chicken right? Hope this next visit is better.

Love this place, although I’ve yet to dine on site I see by the quick response and attention to detail that this would be fantastic as well. The food is consistently good, nigiri sushi always pleasing and fresh. love this place.

Normally love this place. Tonight they answered the phone and couldn’t explain why they couldn’t take my order. When I got here they told me that they ran out of rice. So I asked if they could give me noodles — and that I’d pay more. Was told sorry — we can’t do that. What about tempura instead? Sorry — we cannot do that. But they charged me the full amount even though there was no rice.

This is a brief review of a carry-out dinner order from The Bento Box in Redmond, Washington. My brother picked up our carry-out dinner from here. He reported that the staff was very friendly, polite, and efficient. I could, as normal, go through and list all of the food and make comments on each dish. But frankly, that wouldn’t communicate any better that all of the food was very basic and very average. The Bento Box seems to be about convenient food that is freshly prepared but also mediocre. It simply isn’t anything to write home about. If you live nearby and need a bento or quick sushi fix, it will do the trick. However, I see no reason to go out of the way to frequent this restaurant. Our order consisted of some sushi(rolls), chicken katsu donburi, and gyozas. For the most part, the food was neatly packed. The food was packed into Styrofoam clam-shells. However, there was a small leak. This ruined the napkins and did require a minimal clean up before eating. The cost(dinner for two): $ 36.14 Overall — Once again, this is basic Japanese food. I really do not expect to order from here again. However, if you live very close by, I think it might be one of those places you frequent just because it is nearby and pretty fast.

Very close to Microsoft so it gets crowded during lunch. I had a tempura udon which was better than my expectation(3.5 stars). Tempura is a very good portion, with 2 shrimps, yam, mushroom, green bean, but the udon is a bit under-cooked. Husband had a pork katsudon and it was basically no taste but overly sweet(1.5 stars). Service is very fast and friendly, price is reasonable. Probably won’t be back.

I don’t think I’ve ever been to a sushi restaurant that I questioned, until now. Their food isn’t tasty, it’s old. The service is way too slow and they don’t get it right the first 2 times. I don’t think I’ll ever come back here again even if I was starving!!!
