I stopped by the salon for a color consultation. I have very short hair and wanted to get some highlights. They wanted to do a partial balayage, possible gloss and then a blowout. Each item was priced separately and the cost was going to be over $ 200. I can’t believe that they charge $ 20 just to blow dry your hair after they’re done. Doesn’t Supercuts do that?

My usual hairdresser, Sue, had been providing wonderful service for the past couple years for my hair color, trimming and keratin smoothing needs (and this review is not in any way reflective of my experience as Sue’s client). Since Sue recently retired, I randomly chose a hairdresser I never used before for keratin smoothing (a younger hairdresser, long blonde hair). (My service was on March 18, 2016). She did a great job with my hair, but spent a bit of the time explaining her anti-​gay marriage stance (and campaigning for Trump)! I was afraid to call her on her bigotry (and she was unaware that I’m a woman in a long term same-​sex relationship). I wanted to avoid confrontation, as she was close to being done with my hair. I shouldn’t have left her a tip! She was very unprofessional describing how men have sex and how «wrong» that is (using the «F» word etc…). I was like a deer in the headlights and was caught off guard. I was shocked, offended and very uncomfortable. I’m now afraid to go back for any services there. My impression is that anyone from the LGBT community is not welcome at Paule Attar Salon if they tolerate that kind of behavior from their staff.

Massage therapist Ana was really great. However, the spa was less than ideal and is not a great environment for spa services If Ana worked elsewhere then I would definitely go back to see her.
There is a spa waiting room which would be nice, but the front desk never offers it so you have to ask about it or you’d never know.
During my last service, they were giving advanced training courses in the room right next door. Needless to say, it was extremely noisy during the service and not at all relaxing. They shouldn’t take massage clients in that room during classes or other noisy events – and if they do, then at least warn them so they have a choice to change time of service. I didn’t know about it until 10 minutes into the massage when it got extremely noisy.
At the end of my service as I was changing back into my clothes, some lady just barged into the room. Turns out she was from the class. Rather than apologizing or anything, instead she shouted a profanity and backed out of the room. Very unprofessional and a terrible experience so I won’t be back.
The manager did call me the next day to apologize for the experience and offered half off my next service. I really appreciated her concern but I still won’t be back.
By the way, there’s a much more relaxing spa just a few blocks away that I will be going to.

Wow… I came here for a trim and the lady kept hitting the prickly round brush on my face and had the blow dryer one high and kept it in one place for too long. I felt like my scalp was burning! My haircut was okay but not exactly what I wanted. I got the keratin hair treatment but it made my hair really greasy and I was told not to wash it for 24 hours. It was a long 24 hours for me… I really didn’t like how she parted my hair even though I told her where I part my hair. I met up with my friend at the mall later that day too and felt super self conscious about my greasy hair… I finally found a new salon but it’s too bad that I had to go all the way to LA to find one… I don’t recommend coming here. There are other salons that don’t have big names with talented hair dressers for cheaper. I also have been here to color my hair blonde but it turned out so brassy! I hated it! She did a horrible job and she has no idea how to bleach Asian hair.

Another wonderful facial from Kelly. I love how aside from being very meticulous, she makes sure I’m comfortable throughout the entire process. She also describes what she is doing and why. She’s a great listener and truly cares about your experience!
One thing I forgot to mention is how comfortable the beds are. I don’t feel like I’m getting onto a rickety ironing board type bed as I do at some other places.
Also when you enter the salon area, there is a lovely fragrant aroma.
Bathrooms are well lit and clean.
The ladies at the reception are very efficient during check in and check out.

For someone where hair plays as big of a role in their career as one’s actual job skills are, I can sheepishly admit that yes it’s true I did used to fly from Miami, FL to New York City once every few months just to get my hair cut and colored, and that yes those haircuts, when all added up, averaged anywhere from $ 700 to $ 1,500. And yet it did and still does seem considered a perfectly reasonable thing to do. Singers are just supposed to have great hair. That’s how it works. No questions asked. Eventually I moved to Manhattan full-​time. So that was definitely a money saver. (Sort of. If you know NYC… It more or less balanced things out.)
When I started living part time bicoastally, between NYC and Seattle, I must admit I was a bit concerned with where the hell I was going to find a better than awesome hair stylist in such a laidback city not exactly known for its fashion or style. But that concern was quickly assuaged when my then-​new wife took me to Paule Attar Salon in the thriving little city of Belleview WA for the first time.
First off the place is posh and upscale. If you’re used to that then you’ll feel right at home. If looking for a deal is more your thing then this might not be your place. You’re treated exceptionally well by a very well trained staff. Free beverages including Seattles delicious coffees and espressos along with lemon or cucumber infused mineral water and a host of herbal teas. The design and ambience of the salon is top notch and trendy without feeling ostentatious or pretentious. The staff is kind and caring. More of a loose knit family vibe.
Paule Attar the owner and head stylist of the salon is French Morroccan and very worldly — more Paris or New York than suburban, not only refreshingly eccentric but also extremely dedicated to and passionate about hair. From the moment you sit down in HER chair you KNOW you’re in the hands of a genius (with a touch of the mad scientist perhaps???). She CARES as much or maybe even more about how good your hair is going to look than you do. And she has no problem sharing this passion with you and offering advice as to how you can maintain your gorgeous new do once you get back home.
For the last 13 years I was getting my hair cut and colored exclusively at John Sahaag Salon (God bless his soul…) in Midtown Manhattan (hence the seemingly-​eccentric flights to nyc from Miami…) But once I had my first cut and color at Paule Attar’s in Seattle, I felt in great hands and knew without a doubt that I could trust that I could just as easily get the perfect styling at Attar’s as I could at John Sahaag’s. So whether on the east coast or the west, one thing was for sure: I was always going to have rocking hair.
In addition they’ve also got expert kind and caring manicurists there as well as beautifully talented masseurs– all of which we take advantage of as often as possible. This is definitely a 5 star salon. Nothing better or even close in Washington state that’s for sure. You’ll never feel less than expertly cared for and always looking mad-​hot.

I’ve gone to this salon on and off for years. Natalie was the first person I saw at the salon (must have been at least 5 years ago) and the last. She is phenomenal. I have difficult hair — its thick, wavy… kind of, but not everywhere. This girl cuts my hair to perfection every time. Anytime I «try» another salon I feel like I should have just come and seen Natalie.
Outside of how awesome Natalie is (no, I’m not a friend/​family member) the owner Paula Attar was training the stylist on advanced techniques years ago (i was a hair model for that 1 time) and she was also very nice.
Also, on your birthday, you get a free product! Last year I got a nice purse sized hairspray.
I can’t say enough good things about Natalie — she’s a real talent and I’m glad to have found her some time ago to tend to my difficult hair!

Today is my last day with Djazia, and after six weeks, my skin has cleared up significantly. Every week, I have looked forward to her facials because they are not only relaxing and calming, but quite entertaining as Djazia loves telling stories and engaging with her clients. 5 stars for Djazia, but I can only give 4 for Paule Attar because some of the products are ridiculously expensive, and I’m not sure if they’re all that worth it.

On 12÷7÷13 I went with a group of six girlfriends to this salon. We had no trouble making an appointment about a week before. In our group, we had 2 massages, a facial and four mani-​pedis. I was impressed that the staff was ready for all of us and also got us out on time.
The place was clean and the staff was friendly and professional. I had a facial with Djazia and loved it. I recommend giving this place a try.

Went to see Michele for chemical services and Holly for a cut last week. They both did a great job as always, which is why I continue to drive to Bellevue from Seattle to see them a couple times a year.
Can’t recommend buying products here though reception once gave me a bad time about returning a barely-​opened product with receipt because I waited until my next appointment to return it. I wasn’t about to make a special trip to Bellevue to return a bottle of hair stuff that didn’t work for me. So I don’t purchase anything there anymore. But I do appreciate the time and attention given by Holly and Michele. I have terrible hair (baby-​fine and thinning) and they always make it look MUCH thicker than it is.

Excellent service by Nikki. Most amazing experience in terms of aromatherapry and skills. Music in the room was great. I give it 4 star because its not as glamourous as Gene J or herban Therpaies — they do foot soak there and allow you hag in spa area — while i was waiting upfront instead of sipping tea at the spa area waiting room.

This salon and relaxing spa has a friendly and knowledgable staff. They are very professional and the atmosphere is clean and inviting. There are many stylists and they are all willing to find the perfect cut, color and style for you. I would recommend to anyone who needs a change or a forever stylist and also for a nice get away in the Spa! Enjoy!

I have been going here off and on for about 6 years. My favorite stylist left, but I have been used several of the other stylists and had satisfactory results. I have really long hair and it has been color processed for many years, so I really appreciated when they recently recommended an intense conditioner for me to use at home. I have found a really difference when using this product. Parking is in the lot in back and there are usually spaces.

Can I say simply best ever? Thanks to this wonderful team of beauticians Bellevue feels a bit more like Paris :) Some of the most talented individuals plus the best products makes this great salon THE place to get pampered. Do yourself a favor and visit Paule Attar, you won’t be disappointed!

I was referred here by my bosses wife and am very pleased with my haircut and highlights. I am very picky about how my hair us done, prob from brief stints working at salons in the past. I’ve had some great and not so great salon experiences, and this was the best in a long time. Jamie was friendly, fast (done in hour and half) and professional. Didn’t push products on me, and I left looking like myself but with brighter, bouncy, shiny, soft hair. She does an awesome blowout. I’m a natural redhead and highlights can sometimes be too brassy or bold. I’m over that obvious painted on highlights look, something more sunkissed is prettier and Jamie delivered. And at around $ 150 for a partial foil and haircut, its not going to leave you eating top ramen the rest of the month.

First of all, I called to make the appointment and the person on the phone confirmed my appointment for a full foil. She called me back about 15 minutes later to tell me that she was looking at the wrong date and had to reschedule me. I accommodated her and went in last Thursday at noon for my full foil. I arrived about 5 minutes early, and then proceeded to wait 20 minutes before being seen. The stylist I was with then informed me that she was unable to do my foil and recommended I come back in to the salon to meet with a different colorist. Now, one of the reasons I went in was because I was attending a special event and was leaving town that night.
I was really disappointed that the stylist was unable to do my color, especially since I was booked for a full foil. Since I was there, I asked if she would be able to do a deep condition so that my being there wasn’t a complete waste of time. During this process, she completely soaked my shirt, got the deep conditioner in one of my eyes, and left me with a fuzzy blow-​out. I left there a complete mess, really sad that my color hadn’t been done.
I’m sorry to say that this salon was a complete let-​down and I would never recommend anyone to go there.

This review is for the traditional pedicure service I had done today.
Pros: easy to get appointment (made it the afternoon beforehand for a 9am appt today).
Clean
pleasant atmosphere (I purposely booked an early appointment to have it quite)
Hanna did a wonderful job! I love my nails, perfectly shaped. She was also very gentle.
Cons: pricey. $ 45/​traditional pedicure.
The place can get a little loud and crazy in the hair department on Saturday afternoons.

I went to Paule Attar for the first time to get a haircut and I was very impressed. It is likely the best hair cut I have ever had and the stylist was so incredibly talented and patient with me.
Jamie was the stylist I saw and the care she put into my hair was just amazing! I will certainly go back again and will recommend highly to others. She even gave me styling tips! The atmosphere was fun and easy-​going, but I felt important from the moment I stepped in — wonderful experience!

I had my hair cut by Madame Attar herself, and I was quite satisfied with the outcome, however it required a stylist (Paule), an «aid to the stylist», well over 2 hours, and 150 $ to achieve the result. The cut stood out, but was hard to style myself, and it grew unevenly, so eventually I had to get a new haircut in about 2 weeks from my regular hairdresser.
I also tried their facial services, initially attracted by Pevonia line skincare products they use in the spa. It was a-​ok.

I’m probably going to sound like a total DICK for saying this, but I think the best part about this day spa/​hair salon is their website. I know this because that’s what I based my visit on when I booked this place before heading up to Bellevue for a weekend.
I had decided to really treat myself and booked an almost $ 400 package since my man at the time would be working all day. Once I got there I thought, «Hmm, day spa huh? Looks more like a glorified Supercuts,» but no judging steph, let’s just see what this place is all about.
After waiting for 20 minutes, they finally took me to a back area, aka «the spa,» and my first impression was right. Nothing to type home about. But again, I had nothing to do that day so i figured what the hell.
I started with a facial (my very first one ever) and the woman who performed this act of torture on me was not my favorite to say the least. I had explained to her that I was up visiting my boyfriend so please don’t make me look like a blotchy zithead after this treatment. I was more into the idea of just feeling relaxed, but apparently «relaxed» translates into, «Let’s break this bitch!!» in Bellevue salon speak.
After that treatment I seriously wanted to leave, but I kept telling myself that I was so uncomfortable because I was flying solo in a strange place. (You see, I usually do spa days with girlfriends, so being alone was kinda weird for me) Anyhoo, then it was time for the hot stones treatment. Again, this was the first time I had ever had this treatment so I didn’t know what to expect.
After stripping me down, she placed the temperature of hell torture devices on my back and I literally Unilocaled (every pun intended) and practically jumped straight up in the air. She says, «Too hot?» I reply, «YES!!» She then says I need to wait a bit for them to cool down. Fine by me I say and about 10 minutes later she puts the same hot rocks on me. I’ll note now that I had never been this tense in my life! And I took the damn SAT’s twice!
So after enduring this round of torture it was time for the massage. I said to the girl, I like a light touch as I am a bit sensitive and am pretty TENSE right now. She says okay and again, clearly my language didn’t translate into bellevue salon speak and I felt like I was wrestling with this woman to not puncture my skin. So miserable.
Finally I am DONE. Oh the joy, but wait, there’s more! Included with my Northern afternoon of torture was a free makeup session and hair blowout.
(It is at this time that I would like for you to glance at my photos. Most notably my hair. Do you see how nice and straight and tame it is. Okay, keep that mental image and then let’s talk about what they did to me.)
Does the term BIG HAAARRR ring a bell?!? I looked like that chick from Drew Carey and the makeup, dear god, halloween came early that year.
I just don’t understand how this place stays in business. I really felt like I was on some hidden camera show it was so bad. But alas, $ 400 fricken dollars later, I left this place, sore, stiff and with big hair only to greet my boyfriend and hear, «Since when do you wear frosty pink lipstick?»
