Days Inn Bellingham

This is a decent hotel for the price, a very convenient location off of the interstate and very close to Western Washington University.
The good: The beds and pillows were comfortable. The rooms are spacious, there is a fridge and microwave in the rooms. The inside of the hotel is nice compared to the «curb appeal» on the outside. I was skeptical at first, but pleasantly surprised when I got inside.
The Need to Know: They do not have an elevator so be prepared to lug suitcases up stairs if you are not on the bottom floor. The pool is not really worth a mention — if swimming is high on the list, I would pick a different hotel. The pool is very small and located outside in the front of the hotel right across from the office and next to the street.
The continental breakfast: I need my morning coffee but they were out of cream except the flavored kind; a big NO NO in my hospitality book. The breakfast itself consisted of a pancake station, yogurt, muffins and a variety of bread for toast, packets of honey, peanut butter, and jelly. There is juice, coffee, hard boiled eggs, apples, cereal and regular milk. How do you not have cream??? No worries, the Starbucks was not far away, crisis averted. Whew!
A few mentions: Parking spots are tight. Sink in the bathroom is rather low. If you want to feel really tall, you will like it. If you are short, you will be fine. If you are already tall, be prepared to bend over far to brush teeth or wash hands. :) I felt like an elf in a hobbit bathroom. The desk did not have an extra plug to plug in a laptop so that was a little strange, but the table had an outlet so I used the table instead to work. Maybe bring an extension cord if you want to sit at the desk to work (If you need to work during your stay).
FYI: I used Priceline to name own price, so I got a really good deal on this hotel. This is the third time I have used Priceline for Bellingham and every time it selected this same hotel.

Clean, but very shop worn. The bathroom especially was old – the shower head wouldn’t stay up and the toilet doesn’t flush well. The heater sounds like a freight train. The staff was friendly.

How bout a COLD SHOWER? Sorrowfully this immaculate hotel with nice linens did not offer my friends and I hot water. After complaining and having them check it, and reporting the difficulty was assured by Alexis that management would take care of me. Alas Naz continued to argue with me post visit and said there wasn’t a problem. Funny how no one in my party was able to shower (all three of us, go figure). We paid top dollar, although $ 20 less than walk in rate, but through a third party as the summer season is quite busy. Third party billing, I was reminded by Naz does not cover issues with a hotel even when they don’t provide hot water. I beg to differ. No hot water is not something a third party needs to take care of.
Days Inn Corporate, what do you think? Unfortunately Naz said there was nothing he could do as Days Inn hotels are privately owned. He offered 20% off my next visit. Really Days Inn? Is this how all your hotels are? I would steer clear of Days Inn in the future, if you like to shower. Standards anyone?

Cheap and Clean. Check in staff were super friendly. This hotel smells, like a casino, even in the «non smoking» rooms. Breakfast is a great perk, tea, granola and yogurt are great. I didn’t try the pancake machine but it sure looked fun. You couldn’t pay me to eat those blister packed eggs. eek.

We only stayed at this hotel because it was the only one available.
The beds were old and flimsy, no support on your body. The room had a funny smell to it. The AC didn’t work. The bathroom was old and dirty. The shower curtain looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for weeks. The carpet was filthy and not vacuumed.
The hotel has NO elevators! If your room is on the 2 floor or above, you park in the back of the building. They do have a business center with one computer available and if you must print anything they charge a .25 fee per page.
Breakfast was THE only good thing about this hotel. They have a pancake machine. Fruit, cereal, toast/​bagels, oatmeal, coffee and juices were available.

This is a nice /​clean establishment with friendly hosts!

We did the priceline «name your price» thing to stay here and it turned out way better than expected!
The drive-​up appeal is definitely not there, the paint is peeling, the outdoor pool is major-​street adjacent and totally sketchy… but you walk in and it’s warm and inviting (and definitely updated more recently than the outside).
Pros — Super close to WWU campus.
Beds are very comfortable for a hotel of its level.
Staff was friendly.
Wi-​fi was easy to access.
Free and decent breakfast.
Cons — Looks sketchy when you drive up.
Water from shower went from super cold to super hot continuously, both when showers were taken late at night and in the morning.
Would totally stay again.

Great rate! Comfy clean bed, nice clean room, good service, usual free breakfast fare.
(Heavy on the bread, cereal, with hard cooked eggs, bagels, a toaster, some halved muffins, apple and orange juice and fresh fruit, coffee, tea.)
They let me stay with my dog for an additional $ 10/​night. Fridge in room, microwave, just down the street from Haggen’s, a great Bellingham grocery.
Didn’t get a secret deal from travelocity, (Note to self! Once again! Read Unilocal reviews before you go somewhere!) but I did get the room for about $ 60 for 2 people with an additional charge for my dog. I did get a 10% discount for triple A membership.

If you go onto Travelocity, you can look for the «Secret deal» and stay here for under $ 50 a night.
Hotel is decent, just about what you’d expect. One of our rooms had a flatscreen, but the heater was weak. The other room was fine, but with an older TV. Good fridge and microwave. Breakfast is lacking, but fine. Service quick with advance payment.
As long as I can get the secret deal for ~45 bucks, I’ll come back for my lodging needs.

Had a really nice stay here! Free Internet, breakfast, empty fridge to use in room, and microwave. Pretty awesome overall! Front desk was very helpful and accommodating as well.

Clean rooms, good location with restaurants and grocery stores nearby. Just off of the I-​5. Free continental breakfast. Nice staff making sure the breakfast items were well stocked and tables were clean. Room had a nice Vizio flat screen too. Really, REALLY good rate and would come back again. Has a pool/​spa but did not use. Free Wi-​Fi with no password required.
Free parking. Room smelled like smoke even though it was a nonsmoking room though. The only reason why I took one star away.

Water heater went out in the night — Cold Water!!! Room did not have hair dryer. The desk said we could use the hair dryer in another room – inconvenient when you are naked.
We had an important appointment that morning and usually we like to shower, shampoo, and look good for the appointment. Not possible and it seemed management did not care.
We asked for our money back for the night. We received only $ 20 refund and they tried to add $ 20 instead of subtract $ 20 from our bill. Front desk help was not very well trained.
We sent a «Guest Survey» to Days Inn Bellingham and here is what the General Manager said: «The problem with the hot water heater could not be helped. Just as the hot water heater in your home can go out, so can those in hotels.» Perhaps, but we paid for hot water and a working room with hair dryer and should have received a full refund.
We and a lot of other guests checked out to a better hotel (Guest House Inn). Much, much better.
