Coachman inn

Very simple, affordable and the host was awesome. Was at the LaQuinta Inn down in Tacoma for two nights and it was absolutely terrible. We paid exactly double at the La Quinta Inn, and it was going through a remodel and there was not one friendly staff member that we dealt with. I didn’t catch the gentleman’s name that was the host at The Coachman, but just his smile and his genuine kindness was very welcoming. Good customer service goes a long way with me, and I definitely got it here. Continental breakfast was good too. We enjoyed two nights here, and we definitely will be back when in Bellingham.

Although this isn’t a 5 Star hotel in the Sheraton sense, the Coachman Inn is my ideal of an inexpensive motel. The rooms are clean and well-​maintained. There is a very good complementary breakfast, everyone working there is very pleasant, and the beds are very comfortable. We will make a point of staying there again.

It’s definitely worth the price you are paying. A cheap hotel, but not quality wise. The gym was smaller than I would’ve liked it to be, but hey! It had one, right? I left a camera in my room and got a call about 3 hours after checking out to let me know I had left it. He even ran out once he saw me pull up and handed it to me before I even had the chance to get to the door. The integrity was very respectable and I’m thankful. I would stay here again.

Best bang for your buck. Simple place to spend the night. The pool is a nice way to start the day and the breakfast is a great perk, too.

This hotel was a reasonable price for its location which is a little over a mile from downtown Bellingham. I appreciated my room’s cleanliness. I also enjoyed the free continental breakfast that included cereal, muffins, fruit, etc. There is a fridge, tv and coffee maker in the room. There is a microwave in the hallway for one to use. Now on to the cons. I did not know that there is a $ 50 security deposit if you choose to stay in a non-​smoking room. Although, the money is refunded to you when you check out, it would have been nice to know about this charge before I booked a room. I also had a friend visit me. As soon as my friend entered my room, I received a call from the manager at the front desk asking who is the guy that just entered my room.(The manager knew I had a guest because there are a plethora of cameras throughout the hotel). He proceeded to tell me that if the guy wants to stay in my room then he needs to go downstairs and present his identification because I booked a room for one person. I decided that my friend should leave and I will talk to him later. I made my way down to the front desk to speak with the manager about what just happened. He said that he does not mind me having guests but they need to show their identification so he can know who is in the room. He said it is for security purposes. Hmmm in all of my years of staying in a hotel I have never experienced this and I told him that. He said well I understand ma’am, but this is the way we do it here. Okay nice to know, I thought.
I appreciate the fact that they want to ensure that the guests are safe, but calling me to ask who is in my room is a bit invasive in my opinion. Also the wall heater in my room did not work very well at all. I had to call the front desk to get someone to bring me a heater. This may be a budget motel but I have experienced better treatment at other places. My experience at this motel would have been great if I was told about the security deposit for the non-​smoking room, the heater that did not work very well, and guest showing identification if you book a single room. I have never been asked who comes and goes out of my room. I have stayed in hotels on military bases and the staff doesn’t do that. I will find somewhere else to stay next time.

— Bed wasn’t super to me. Comforter seemed not so comfy. Pillows were so-​so.
Overall, a budget hotel, but good, decent, clean and a great price. I may try a slightly more expensive hotel the next time I am in the area, but this hotel was a good value for the price.

This is my «Go To» hotel whenever my business brings me to Bellingham! Truly a great value! Very clean and modern. Free wifi and a very good breakfast selection. Above all, a very friendly an efficient staff! The bottom line is… I won’t stay anywhere else.

Stayed three nights when moving my daughter to WWU. Remodeled, clean, and very friendly. Ideally located close to university and lots of restaurants. Good selection for breakfast. Will stay again.

I highly recommend this motel. Great value for the price! The room was very clean, the furnishings were modest but newer including the bed, the A/​C worked great, good sized flat screen tv, free and fast internet. The place is well maintained. The continental breakfast was nice (not great but okay), and the staff was very helpful. My room (second floor) was quiet. I never heard anyone around me. I will stay there again without question!
By the way try Supon’s Thai Kitchen across the street. I had the Tom Yum Gai, The best I’ve ever had! But suggest not going above a 3 on the spicyness. Also there is the Five Columns Restaurant just up the street on the right. Great food and reasonably priced!

Great customer service, happy and friendly, good meal to tide you over til lunch, heated pool, great for Washington. Stairs near middle doors, ramp i believe in front, it would be five, up date some features and fix some paint :)

Great value! You can’t beat $ 60 when it includes friendly staff, a comfortable bed and breakfast! I would highly recommend this place and will definitely stay there again!

I origonally had a reservation at the Days Inn across the street, but quickly canceled once I saw the druggies hanging out by the door. I headed over the Coachman, hoping they would have a room.
I was so pleasantly surprised! The front desk (manager?) was very kind, to the point and gave me a very clean safe-​feeling room. It was quite and well-​lit and the non-​smoking room actually meant NON smoking.
For $ 60 per night, I was impressed. With some pretty sketchy motels in the area, I was affraid to stay anywhere, but this one was a WINNER!
Thanks Coachman! Ill be back!

Such a random but great find. Cheap and clean. A perfect spot to spend a night or 2 in if visiting the area. The hallway microwaves are incredibly odd but is what keeps us coming back. 3:00 am burritos anyone?

This place is cheap and to the point. I always use this place whenever i visit WWU for special events or going out for a night in downtown. The rooms are clean and well put together, but i wouldn’t recommend rolling around on the floor or anything though. The furnishings arent the newest but gives me a vibe of going back the the early 90’s which is actually kinda cool. The staff is friendly/​helpful and they don’t try to swindle you on any additional fees after your visit. There is a nice breakfast bar with pre-​packaged goodies and water to help with your hangover. This place will get repeat business from me with this consistency.

This place is the best! Very nice for being a «2 star hotel.» You get a lot of bang for your buck: free WiFi, nice rooms with super comfy beds, continental breakfast, fancy tv’s, etc. The owners are also super friendly and very relaxed! They don’t care when you check out, just as long as you’re happy. I definitely plan on giving this place my business again.

Not fancy by any means, but if you are basing a review off of needs being met then I would say that the Coachman Inn goes above and beyond.
The place is very clean. Very cozy, The entire staff is very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is served. And it is still cheaper than most other places. If you have a small budget but still want a pleasant experience then I wholeheartedly recommend the Coachman Inn.

The place is clean and the owner is very friendly. It is not the Taj Mahal, but it is a decent quiet place to sleep for a decent price. My wife, daughter, and I really had no complaints.

This place is not what people say. I don’t know if they are staying somewhere else?
On the plus side:
Yes, 66 $ a night is cheap.
The breakfast options are pretty good.
Rooms were pretty clean.
The Bad:
Bed is super caved in, like an old horses back. Bed cover is polyester.
The air freshener permeating all of the bedding and carpet is horrendous (my clothes smelled like it for days) — if you have allergies like I do, you better sleep with a mask on.
The heat/​air vent is either on high, or not on. Burning hot or freezing cold in the winter.
I left my cell phone charger in the room. I called that evening, the guy at the front desk said that he would have the manager call. He called, didn’t leave a message. I called back and left a message, didn’t hear back. I called again and talked to the desk guy, he said that he would put it aside to pick up. When we stopped by, the manager had no idea what we were talking about and was really put out that he had to interrupt what he was doing to find them for us. They weren’t around so locating them took a while. What a pain.

I haven’t stayed anywhere else in Bellingham but it’s not likely that I ever would.
Great price. Clean and functional rooms. Super comfortable beds. Free wifi whilst you lay in bed! The staff were friendly and helpful. It’s within walking distance to all the fun that waits for you in the downtown. It’s an even shorter walk to the grocery store for snacks. Did I mention how cheap it was?
There is also a fitness center that you could use to exercise or as a back drop for elaborate soap opera inspired skits. Whatever. Oh and an outdoor pool for those pool worthy months.

Stayed again, and for reals the price and quality is amazing. Wifi in the rooms, clean, close enough to downtown.
The owner who I mentioned in my last review remembered me and took the time to explain more about that situation and I feel much better.
The Coachman will be my Bellingham digs for lyfe!
