Pleasant outdoor seating and environment, and everyone who works there are all very amiable. I ended up ordering the 1 pc. breaded cod and chips for around $ 10, but it was a little smaller than I expected. Everything is also freshly made to order so a short wait is guaranteed(6 – 8 min window), but definitely worth a stop if you’re not in a hurry to go somewhere. Will visit again the next time I’m in Fairhaven!

Our family loves the fish & chips, whether you choose the cod or halibut, it is the best! We also like the coconut prawns!

Best fish and chips I’ve ever had. And I know my fish and chips better believe it. It’s also in a quaint town with tons of character and charm. Was my stopover en route to Seattle from BC.

The best in town, hands down. Don’t go here if you like a comfortable place to sit, or need your food in two minutes– it takes awhile because he cook to order which is a good thing. Eat here if you want great food and shakes —

I ordered the 2pc. Cod and fries. Not bad at all, but the portions were a little small for the cost of the meal, and the wait. It is made to order, which is good, but don’t eat here if you happen to be in a hurry. Like another reviewer wrote, this isn’t a legit English style fish & chip joint. I followed up my meal with a Pina Colada ice cream cone from their extensive soft serve menu. It was great, as was my wife’s Rum flavored ice cream cone.

Honestly, its fried food and delicious. Skip the clam strips — the breading is a little heavy and salty for seafood… think kentucky fried clam strips :/

I enjoyed the salmon and chips(2pc), three coconut prawns and clam strips with fries(wedges). Every time I’m in the NW region I’m looking for the best salmon and chips and I think I found it. Cool little town too. I’d actually give it 4.5 but there is only seating inside for 7 and currently it’s chilly out, but saying that it would take away from what makes this place cool. If I had visited during mid summer or if the day was warmer it would definitely be a solid 5. The food was very tasty and not heavy for fried food. The prawns were delicious and the clams had a perfect taste and not to «ocean-y». The salmon strips were average in size and were very tasty as well. I think I got what I paid for here. It is quality food served in a basket.

Yummy. The salmon is amazing. And fairhaven fish and chips is on the top 10 best fish and chips in the state of Washington! #5 I believe.

It baffles me how many people just stop here to take a selfie next to the cool bus. The food is excellent. My husband, daughter and I split a 3 piece cod and chips while people watching on a sunny February afternoon. It is a great place to sit outside and soak up the sun and the surroundings.

Best fish and chips I’ve ever had. All of our visitors from back in CA say the same. My husband and I share the fisherman’s basket and add an extra piece of halibut. Yummy coleslaw too!

A solid fish joint. The or fried cod was very good, the chips? Better than most, but still not an ‘English” style chip… But good none the less. The only drawback is the lack of seating. Luckily on the rainy day I was there I got a table with no problem.

I don’t have enough good things to say about this place! My friends and I came here on a drizzly afternoon in need of some comfort food. The special was a halibut sandwich with fries for only $ 10, sounded great to me! The halibut was flaky and had a beautiful crisp outside. The hoagie roll was amazingly soft and even the coleslaw was delicious!(not normally a fan) Additionally, the fries were thick cut and seasoned to perfection. I ate the entire thing and left full and happy. With many cold, wet fall days to come, I see myself coming here a lot! My only gripe is they’re closed on Mondays. I never thought this would be an issue but I always find myself craving fish and chips on Mondays!

Noticed this place last time we were in town, but the weather was not cooperative for outdoor seating. Stopped in for lunch. Hubby ordered the two piece halibut and I had the two piece cod. Both came with coleslaw, fries and some house made tarter sauce. Fish portions were good for the price of our meals. Liked the coleslaw, not overly sweet or vinegary. The fries were a bit greasy, but that didn’t stop me from eating most of them. What we enjoyed was the outside eating area so our pup could be with us. We would stop here again.

YUM! I have a deep love for seafood and fish & chips qualifies as a comfort food for me. This was some of the best I’ve ever had! I had the Alaskan halibut. The«chips» we’re delicious too! I also had to get the chowder because, duh, it’s clam chowder. That was an excellent decision! Everything here was great right down to the coleslaw and I’m not even a big coleslaw fan. This place will fill you up and leave your taste buds very happy. I had just a 1 piece and I was stuffed after my fish and chowder and took most of my fries to go. Also this place is a converted double decker bus. How cool is that?! I definitely recommend this place to anyone!

«Last night was crazy…» gabbed the gal behind the counter to her fellow coworker who was just as oblivious that I had been standing in front of the«Order Here» window for about 5 minutes. I thought«wait» staff were supposed to wait on customers, not the other way around. It was a Wednesday evening around 4 pm. There were no lines, and there was only one other couple finishing their meal. The«gabber» finally noticed me and rushed over. I explained that this was my first time here. She responded with a deadpan face. I looked around for a menu since she didn’t offer one. Thankfully I had read the Unilocal reviews and remembered something that drew me here in the first place. She rang up my fish & chips basket and a Pepsi which set me back $ 15 and some change. Ouch! Does this come with a live show? Singing fish maybe? Nope! Anyhoo…the Fisherman’s basket caught my eye. It offered 3 varieties of beer-battered fish including salmon, halibut and cod along with wedge fries and a side of coleslaw. The cod was small, light and flaky. The halibut was more meaty and dense. Both were rather bland and slightly greasy, but the texture and crispiness was good. The salmon was pink, flaky and more flavorful than the other two fish. A small container of tartar sauce was available for dipping. There was also a small, styrofoam cup of rather dry coleslaw. Really? Styrofoam? As I was busing my own table, I asked if they recycled soda cans because I noticed someone had thrown their aluminum can away in the trash. The wait staff pointed to the off-property, blue, metal recycling recepticle that the city fixes to the corners of busy street intersections. Seating options include three tables inside a small gazebo attached to the entrance of a red, double-decker London bus. At least you can get out of the rain and cold. During the summer, you will probably choose the pub-like or garden tables on the outside patio. You also have the option to take your food to go which might be wise now that Fairhaven has implemented 2-hour parking limits. At least parking is still free, for now. The double-decker, London bus is a fun attraction. Sadly you can’t go inside it. The downstairs is the kitchen where your meal is prepared and the upstairs is an office. What fun is that? This was a mediocre experience at best, but not worth reliving a second time.

Had to cross the border so we found this place for lunch! Was super yummy! My husband had the fishermen’s basket which included all 3 fish. He said the halibut was the best. Our 10 month old son who we do baby led weaning with liked all the fish my husband gave him. I had a two piece chicken basket and they gave me 3 because the pieces were on the smaller side but it was more than enough for me. My son had some and my husband helped me finish the rest. Everything came out hot and the fries are a mix between potato wedges and steak fries. Mmm. Definitely would go back.

Never disappointed when I go to Fairhaven fish and chips! The food take a bit longer to prepare because it not fast food folks, but well worth the wait!!! Try the coconut shrimp or just go with the fish and chips! I love taking my out-o-town guest there because it just plan fun! Especially when the weather is nice! A double decker bus is their store front and outdoor seating is plentiful. This is a Fairhaven must!

Such a wonderful little spot. The seating, surprisingly, wasn’t terrible either, it being mostly outdoor and all. There’s a neat little space with indoor seating too, for people who prefer it. The employees are all very friendly as well. I had their Fisherman’s Basket and my boyfriend had their Dover Sole sandwich and clam chowder. Both were absolutely delicious. Not to mention their coleslaw. They also have various flavors of soft serve ice cream as well as a variety of milkshakes. Their cranberry milkshake was delicious. Definitely making it a thing to grab lunch here every time I’m in town.

My girlfriend and I explored downtown Bellingham last Saturday after going to the Skagit Tulip Festival. We both love fish and chips, so we decided to stop at Fairhaven Fish and Chips for lunch. The fried fish tasted great. The batter was a bit too heavy and greasy. When you have outstanding fresh fish, you don’t need to hide it with tons of batter. The tartar sauce was on point. I liked that the chips were thick potato wedges. The coleslaw was just fine. Overall, it was a really good version of fish and chips. If I visit Bellingham again, I will definitely return.
