A couple updates but still, 3⁄5. More pros? Well, the ever changing beer is awesome Quite a crowd even on weekdays Lots of fun games to play Cons? Overpriced for a very mediocre burger… Maybe I’m spoiled with high quality meat and a BBQ Service was still mediocre Sushi on Wed/Thurs nights averages a 45 minute wait

The yakisoba is amazing here. So good. The place is cute especially in the summer. Love the outdoor patio. There are games both inside and outside to play. A good way to spend the evening with friends or nice date night.

Tucked just off Birchwood, on Northwest Avenue, in a former sushi restaurant is an oasis of beery goodness called Hops ‘n Headz. Their happy hour snacks are affordable and amazing, and they have an incredible rotating selection of Northwest-centric craft beers on tap. If the weather is nice, their beer garden completes the oasis theme with tranquil ponds and sculptured grounds in which to enjoy your favorite brew. Oh, and if you’re still mourning the demise of the amazing sushi restaurant that was Osaka, there’s a secret that not everyone knows. Wednesday and Thursday nights are now«Sushi Nights,» which I recently had the opportunity to check out. Oh. My. Goodness. Quite possibly among the best sushi I’ve ever had in Bellingham. We enjoyed both the nigiri and the creative rolls. The fish was fresh and the sushi rice was perfect.

We stopped in when it first opened. Beer was good, service was terrible, food was so-so. The guy who got chili that wasn’t cooked was similar to one of our dishes.

Yes they have lots of beer. We went in on a «Sushi Nite». The sushi was mediocre, but the funniest part was I ordered a bowl of chili and it was inedible. The beans weren’t even cooked. The waiter asked if he could get me another and I said don’t bother(why would another scoop from the pot be any better right?). Well he said«no I can ask them to make another batch». …um WTF I’m sorry but on no planet nowhere can you make chili in 10 minutes. Being an experienced chili cooker, I asked, «um it takes hours to make chili doesn’t it?» and his reply was«apparently not.» I said NOTHANKS. After that the waiter was rude and un-attentive. Some of the food is decent like the burgers. But if you want sushi, go to a real sushi establishment.

A great local pub. I like the fact that they have an assortment of board games available. A new addition to their menu is Sushi on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I will have to come back to try the sushi. Great service, nice staff, and good food. I will certainly return.

Great rotating beer selection. The owner seems to take pride in providing a good selection of local and out-of-town craft beers and ciders, plus a small selection of wine. Unlike some taphouses, he hasn’t focused on all IPAs or all stouts or any other craft type, instead providing a good and rotating selection of them all. The food is good, an Asian-fusion variety, and the outdoor seating area is awesome. Super friendly staff(and the women are super easy on the eyes). I’m no stranger to the place for sure.

Great concept, especially in the PNW. Extensive beer menu; over 20 beers on tap. that’s the shit I like. Head shop also, hence the name. This place has a cool backyard setting also with games for the kids while you slam a couple beers in front of the pond. There’s still decorations set up outside the last Japanese owners forgot to grab, but oh well. We got a couple pitchers of beer and ordered our food. We waited well over an hour at a picnic table, the pitchers were long gone and we waited some more. The food finally came out as the clouds rolled in and the sun was descending to darkness. I think there was one other group of people outside, so it wasn’t that busy. Anyway, by this time I was a nice healthy buzz, but no amount of alcohol could mask the foods lean cuisine like nature. I shared a plate of sweet and sour chicken with stir fry vegetables. This food seemed microwaved. The chicken did not taste like chicken, the plate was 70 percent sauce that was overly sweet and left the vegetables soggy and saucy to the point of no return. I left really unsatisfied. My friends waffle fries were really good though. She only got about 5 of them unfortunately. Word of the wise: sit inside or they will forget about you, and order some beer and fries. you will probably have a good time. If you’re looking for good beer as well as good food, I would suggest one of Bellingham’s many breweries(Aslan, boundary bay, wander, to name a few)

Love this place! It’s an absolute blast! I live right down the street and it’s so much fun. I couldn’t believe it was right under my nose this whole time. I met the owner and the man who built the ISO container bar, which is pretty awesome. The beef garden is cool and the bar itself has a real homey feel to it.

I came here with some friends on a nice Summer Wednesday evening. The circular driveway of the previous iteration of this location is gone, the entrance and parking is now accessible through the south entrance. I didn’t go inside, so I can’t attest to service or fit/finish. We sat at wood picnic tables outside. We arrived and ordering takes place at an outside counter, housed in an old shipping container. They have some beverages(not all) and we were able to order food. They have a decent and not too complicated food menu. Someone in our party wanted a specific beer and had to go inside to order and pay, as there was some weird thing about«cannot carry alcohol across the parking lot». I don’t recall what the details were, but it was strange. I ordered a beer(they had some good local brews, and a nice chef salad. All the food seemed to be well received by our party. Everyone liked what they ordered. The outdoor seating was comfortable in a nice environment(the rear of the property is a nice garden). It’s good they developed the back of the property so outside seating is away from busy Northwest Avenue.

Great beer garden, lots of taps, games, good food, great service. Would had give 5 stars, however, arrived on a sunny Sunday after work at 7:30& felt a bit rushed at 8pm closing time. Numerous tables were filled, people & families still eating & numerous were turned away who arrived at the at closing time, both inside and out. Some of it is our fault for not looking, was a beautiful Sunday.

H ‘n H is a newbie on the burgeoning Bellingham beer scene. They started off a little slow, but have really hit their stride with the addition of a beautiful new beer garden in the back. Their tap list is long and varied, and features some local favorite craft beers as well as a few more obscure varieties from breweries like Stone. Their food is no slouch, either. I still think their onion rings are the best I’ve ever had, and their burger is big, beautiful, and meaty. What a great place to meet friends, play some yard games, and enjoy some good beer on a warm night.(They have cider and wine, too!)

Live right down the road so it was time to see if this could be our new go-to. Came on a Thursday after happy hour. Had a couple of beers(one I wanted to try from their menu was out). I had the tofu wrap and salad. Good portion, fresh veggies. Loved the sesame ginger dressing. Guy had the french dip with cheese — he would not stop with how amazing it was. He loves french dip and gets one at any restaurant he can. Says this was the best one in a while because the bread tasted fresh and huge portion of roast beef. Had the waffle fries and they were good. Shared a basket of onion rings and you can tell they are fresh made. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. You can borrow a game from the table and play with your friends. There is an outside beer garden/mini golf area — raining when we went so didn’t check it out. Only complaints: not enough light inside, little bit dusty, my plate seemed to be inherited from the old Japanese restaurant that was there, and it wasn’t a good style for my food. We will definitely come again, especially to check out happy hour.

Loved the food, especially the fish & chips(perfectly done, quality fish and fantastic batter.) The beer selection focuses on local and in state brewers, with a wide variety for many different palates. The beer was served in proper glassware at proper temperature! The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and the service was great. The seating areas offer choices for various sized groups and atmospheres(from stools by the dart boards to couches with tv and fireplace in a separate more private area.) As someone who has been disappointed by many places who specialize in craft beers, I was happy to discover thus gem, and will be a frequent guest.

Hmm, My experience here is a bit dated as I had beers and food at a soft opening. However, we were quite impressed with the food. I had both a kimchi-beef slider and a french dip, both I thought were impressively executed! I also thought the wait staff were courteous and professional.

Stopped by this place for a quick bite on the way back to Seattle from Vancouver and boy are we glad we did. This is a fresh hidden gem just off I-5 in Bellingham. I had the Philly Cheesesteak with seasoned waffle fries after listening to the waitresses recommendation and my girlfriend had the chicken fingers and fries. Both were cooked to order, made quickly and piping hot when presented in front of us. Portion sizes were just right. A great selection of craft beer brewed locally and all up and down the west coast. Wine as well if your accomplice isn’t a beer drinker, but no hard liquor — it is a tap house after all. If you’re visiting the area, swing by Mallard’s for ice cream afterwards!
