I’d been growing out a pixie cut for 9 months and went to Ezell for a trim. I told him I wanted to keep the front length and get the back thinned out. I brought pictures, which he did not pay much attention to. The haircut I got really could not have been more opposite from what I asked for. After a wash, a long, rough blow-dry, and 10 minutes of him taking lots of length out of the front, I told him I was nervous about it getting too short. He explained that my hair was made up of ‘broken bones’ that he had to ‘sew back together, like an ER operation’ — made me feel really great about my hair. He continued cutting, and I ended up with a layer of bangs that are shorter than my hair ever was when I had a pixie cut! He fiddled around with the back and told me it was full of ‘holes’ from the past bad haircuts I’ve had and there wasn’t anything he could do with it, but he wanted to see me back in 8 months. It is going to take 8 months to grow the front out to where it was before the haircut! So frustrating. I should have walked out when he first started cutting my bangs. I believe Ezell is a talented stylist, but needs to work on listening to what clients are asking for. If you happen to have a lot of hair and no idea what to do with it, he may give you a nice new style, but if you have a solid idea of what you want, there is no telling what you’ll actually get. Not worth the risk, especially with short hair!
