The Loft

I must say, we stopped here the first week they opened and it was not a pleasant experience. That was a few years ago perhaps, and we decided to give it another shot and stop here for dinner and enjoy a nice date night.
We were seated quickly by a friendly host and our server was truly wonderful and pleasant. We loved every moment she stopped by our table. When she first came by, we informed her that this was our first time back since the first week they opened, and she enthusiastically ensured us that this experience would be significantly better. She was 100% correct.
I ordered the smash burger which was super tasty and the fries were seasoned just right. My wife got the Curry Bowl and felt it was a little less peanuty than she anticipated, but she still loved it. The wine pour was generous and the selection of local beer was a good one. And of course, we loved our server.
We look forward to coming back again, especially for this happy hour we keep hearing about.

First time at this establishment for lunch. My sister had the ahi wasabi salad and I had the Thai chicken salad. The waiter was attentive, efficient and pleasant. The salads were beautifully arranged and delicious. The view was a perfect fall at the bay. We will return.

I went back for the happy hour and it was a total success. I got a microbrew and a delicious burger for under $ 10. That is a great deal.

Great happy hour value and a vegetarians dream! The Loft in my opinion has some of the best happy hour menu selections & prices in town. Whether your vegetarian or not, their veggie burger is hands down THE BEST I’ve ever eaten. The HH version is a full burger w/​fries for only $ 5! Tack on from their regular menu their avocado fries for an appetizer and you’re in for a real treat. So delicious! Other HH fav is the fish tacos. Every seat in the house has a view of the marina and is beautiful on clear/​sunny days. Wait staff are very personable. 5 stars!

Went for dinner with some friends for a Birthday Dinner. The food was fresh. The menu had some very tasty, healthy and unique choices like crab ravioli and a vegetable curry bowl. We enjoyed a great view of Squalicum harbor and all the boats. We liked the quiet surroundings. It was on a Tuesday night so I suspect Friday and Saturday nights would draw a bigger crowd.

Great happy hour. They have great burgers for five bucks from 4 – 6.

A lousy experience from start to finish. Brain dead hostess, overpriced, and poorly prepared food. I have to assume incompetent management as well. My bacon-​wrapped pork tenderloin was so scarily undercooked it was inedible. They earn one star for the view and the beer list.

We’ve been to this restaurant many times… mostly for lunch. The view of the marina from virtually every seat in the restaurant is relaxing, and I love it. The service has been ok. Not horrible, not excellent. Waitresses are pleasant and accommodating. The food choices on the menu, especially dinner, are many and varied and offer different twists on the usual steaks, burgers, and tacos. The main issue with this restaurant is that food quality isn’t consistent. We have eaten here and had fabulous meals: hot, fresh, and delicious. Other times, our food takes awhile and arrives cold or with the appearance it was slapped together. We go back for the view and the times that the food has been good. It isn’t a restaurant that makes a great first impression, tho.

Went here this evening for dinner. We started with the calamari which was completely flavor less and almost jerky tough. The aioli that came with it was full of raw garlic with an aggressive bite.
Next came my crab ravioli and my partners steak. My ravioli were all undercooked and very hard to bite through. Once I got to the crab in the ravioli I found shell pieces.
My partners steak was ordered rare and came out medium. His steamed vegetables were more like microwaved carrots. They were raw, unseasoned and warm at best. The mashed potatoes were dry but with good flavor.
Dessert was ice shards of frozen Black Berry listed at gelato.
The service was great and attentive, perhaps they should find a kitchen that can keep up with their good service.
Won’t be back.

The food is fantastic (except the curry, don’t get the curry). Bartenders are amazing and atmosphere is wonderful. Beautiful view on these Summer nights, looking forward to the stormy nights as well! :)

We enjoyed the atmosphere and food at the Loft. Had heard about the Loft from others so decided to try it out on Monday. Everyone was very friendly, especially our server, Andrew. We ordered drinks and parmesan, garlic fries. Everything was brought in a timely manner and the fries were delicious, lots of roasted garlic and fresh grated parmesan. It was a very hot afternoon, but sitting out on their deck over looking the marina, we enjoyed a little breeze that was perfect.
A couple sitting near us requested «very» crisp fries. Andrew acknowledged his request and stopped by after they had a chance to try them to inquire if the fries were crisp. And indeed they were. Good follow up Andrew!
We’ll be back again.

I love this place! I took my mom here for Mother’s Day, and she loved it too. The environment is clean, classy, and comfortable. The food is always excellent, they have wonderful seafood entrees and also big juicy delicious burgers. This is one of my favorite places in Bellingham, easily!

We gave this place yet one more try because we wanted to dine outside on a nice evening. Wait staff was pleasant but at least three of the staff I saw kept touching their hair. Yuk.
Food was as forgettable as it was on previous visits. My prime rib dip was cold, my companion’s salmon was an overlooked slab. One should not be able to bounce a fork off of salmon.
Sorry Loft, that was your last chance.

My boyfriend and my first time dining here! I had a margarita and the chicken salad sandwich! It was all delicious. I wanted dessert, but definitely could not fit it. The view is beautiful and would be a perfect spot both for summer and winter days. Sadia was our server, she was very helpful and attentive without being totally over bearing. We enjoyed our time here and will definitely be back soon!

I was excited to try out The Loft beside the marina on this beautiful sunny afternoon. The location is fantastic, and we were able to be seated beside the window to enjoy the view. The wait staff was quick and courteous, giving us the food and wine specials and the menu had a good selection. Looking for something light, I ordered the veggie sandwich and hubby ordered the Reuben. His sandwich, which came with fries came on a swirled bread and heaped nicely with meat and sauerkraut. It was delicious. My veggie sandwich was terrible. The undercooked veggies were falling out of the sandwich so badly, I couldn’t eat it with my hands. When I tried to eat it with a knife and fork, the bread was so chewy and stale, I couldn’t cut it with my knife. I ended up eating the inside veggies and fries, but I was left with disappointed with my meal.
It’s a young crowd, and I got the feeling it probably gets louder and fuller near the bar on weekends, but an early weeknight was a good time to go, and I’m willing to give this place a second shot with another choice of meal.

I’ve enjoyed pretty much everything I’ve gotten to eat here. Go for the Bison Burger or the Cubano if you want a sandwich. They’ve got great starters too. I’ve tried the guacamole, ceviche, prawns, and the cilantro-​lime steak tacos and they’ve all been really good.
The outdoor seating is also great. There’s a beautiful view of the water. I went here last 4^th of July and had a great view of the fireworks over the bay.
The only downside to me is that their service isn’t always good. I wouldn’t say the waitstaff is rude by any means, just get really inattentive sometimes. If they make you a drink and you hate it, don’t expect it to be taken off your bill.
I’d still go back, and I have many times, but this place could be better in the service department.

Waahhh… I wanted to like this place! At least the garlic fries were good.

Amazing food! Enormous portions! Without us knowing they thought this was a little early so they brought us a free dessert. Cilantro lime tacos were great and dizzy. The burgers are so big you can hardly get your mouth around!

The food is mediocre at best and overpriced. We stopped at the fries today, they were 8 bucks and drenched in oil, soggy and Bleh. Didn’t want to try anything else! Can’t wait a new restaurant to open in that great location!

I finally got to check out The Loft (I’d been avoiding it due to the mixed reviews on Unilocal) but we went for happy hour last night and I was more impressed than I expected. They have a good happy hour beer/​drink menu, and the food was pretty good (it’s hard to beat a good burger and fries for $ 5 these days). The service was okay, but as busy as they were it seems they could have used another waitress or two. Something really needs to be done about the horribly uncomfortable seats, though. The barstools are about 10″ square and made of very hard wood. We only stayed for one drink because our butts were falling asleep! Those things (the seats, not our butts) need some padding or something. Oh, the view of the marina and bay is incredible!
