Have come to the 3rd rail now about 4 or 5 times. Since its so close to my home, its conveinent but after yet another disappointing time, we will not be back. I have gotten the wings here a bunch of times, they’ve always been great, tonight though, not so much. We got take out. First off, it took almost an hour for 2 orders of wings. That can be okay, they were busy, but still, its not that hard to fry up some wings. They were all drumsticks, clearly frozen, about half the size of what we’ve gotten before. No blue cheese at all, I don’t get it. How can some thing so simple be screwed up so royally? The rest of the menu is pretty brutal too, not many good options at all. Also, they claim to have craft beer. Poor attempt at that too guys. News flash, Leinenkugel, Hofbrau, Goose Island and other«craft» beers suck, and cheapen your restaurant. I don’t see this place lasting much longer…

Burgers are fantastic. Cooked to order and delicious. We shared the«BIG» Pretzel appetizer. Came with a cheese sauce and then like a light honey sauce. Very good. Couldn’t finish so we wrapped it. Waitress was attentive and friendly! Have TV’s around to watch the game. Good beer selection, full bar too. As we were leaving a live band/DJ was setting up to go on. Great location, nice ambiance and even the Chef came around to make sure we were ok! Will be back :)

Everything today was amazing! Service was super friendly and accommodating. Our table was visited by the owner and the chef! Had thai calamari which was delish, followed by a diesel burgwr. Although none of the items were not on lunch menu we were still accommodated. Espresso martini and old fashioned were to die for. Crystal was a breath of fresh air for a server, we laughed and joked the whole time– my friend and I both agreed that it felt as if we knew her forever. Definitely our new go to place. Thank you 3rd Rail for a great experience today!

Extremely surprised by how quickly this place filled up on a Wednesday for dinner! Went here with a friend for after work dinner. Immediately greeted by a friendly waitress with blonde hair who seated us, then a young courteous fellow took over. I order a mule and my friend had a beer. I was really glad to see a mule on the menu(because that means when I come back on the weekend they’ll have the ingredients for a Dark and Stormy!) and we also ordered the amusingly large pretzel and tai calamari. Both apps were great. For mains I ordered the oyster po’ boy and my buddy ordered a burger that had pulled pork on it… Mine was good but oh boy his was incredible! Look at the picture! We rounded it out with some lava cake and I have an espresso martini. I liked this place. I really enjoyed the pace and didn’t feel rushed. I also really enjoyed the space, there was actually ample room. Service was good, ambiance was casual… I’ll be back.

Great draft beer selection. Great service(our server was Ronnie). Nice and low key ambiance. Our table had the mozzarella sticks to start and the breadcrumb that was used was delicious — you can tell that it was freshly made. We ordered the cheeseburger and turkey burger for dinner and the portions were large — I was able to share my burger with my daughter. I’m looking forward to coming back to try their Happy Hour.

I have been to this cozy neighborhood spot a few times. The food is fresh and delicious. Always a few creative specials available. Extensive beer menu. The service at the bar and in the dining room is very attentive. This is a true neighborhood gem.

This is a great little spot right near the Bellmore train station with plenty of flat screen tvs for the sports fan, like myself. The tap beer selection has a good variety & I really appreciated the fact that they have Chimay white in a bottle available. The menu has a great variety of things from sandwiches to burgers to seafood specialties like mussels served a few different ways. I was dying for a burger, so I chose a burger with Swiss cheese & sweet potato fries. The burger was cooked perfectly, the sweet potato fries delicious, & the draught beer was cold & tasted perfect. Good food is crucial but many times people sacrifice good service for good food; this is not the experience you will find here. My server, Beth was so incredibly friendly, courteous, & attentive. She anticipated all of my needs & prepped my table with everything I would need prior to my food arriving & she answered knowledgeably answered the questions I had about the menu. Servers should take a lesson from her!!! Love this spot!

Tonight was my first visit here, and I was far from impressed. My friend who was visiting from out of town recommended it, so this is where we went. Upon entering, I saw that the place was pretty busy. It seemed like more locals than people there to drink at a bar close to the train. Several families with kids. I took that as a good sign. We started off with an order of buffalo wings. They were very overcooked and dry. The blue cheese dressing that accompanied them had that oiliness to it like the big jug of it was sitting out in the back all night. It had definitely begun to separate and get that synthetic texture to it. Almost as if they mixed a small amount of Italian dressing into it. But you know they didn’t. The entrees came out and with one fail swoop in putting our plates in front of us, all of our appetizer plates disappeared, including the wing plate with two wings left on it. Gone before we even realized what happened. That was $ 2 worth of wings if my calculations are correct. For entrees my friend got a strip steak with broccoli and baked potato and I got an order of fried calamari from the app menu and a Greek salad. The calamari portion was about a third of what you would get at about any other restaurant. In light of the small portion, I expected it to be some amazing calamari, but it wasn’t. Very disappointing. The Greek salad… Where do I begin? The portion was on par with the price. There were WAY too many olives on the salad. So many that I asked for an extra plate to put them on. I don’t dislike olives at all, but I picked out at least 10 large olives and put them to the side. And that was after eating a few already. It was ridiculous. Now, I’m guessing that whoever made the salad was feeling creative, but spring mix does not belong in a Greek salad. It made for some very odd texture as spring mix leaves tend to get slimy with dressing on them. The cucumbers and peppers were diced very small, whereas they should be celebrated in a Greek salad. The dressing was something unfamiliar as well. It tasted more like a red wine vinaigrette than a Greek dressing. The feta was good quality. I just wish there was more of it on the salad. Honestly, the feta was about all I ate off of the salad. After removing all of the olives, I just couldn’t get past the other oddities in there. I’m just not sure what was going on with this salad, but it was all over the place and I left 80% of it on the plate. I would not order it again. Another thing… because I had ordered the calamari and the salad in place of an actual entrée, I had two separate plates. So when I moved my calamari plate away(still with some calamari on it) to pull the salad closer to eat that, some ninja busser swooped in and snatched the calamari plate thinking I was finished before I even realized it. I looked down from the TV that I had momentarily looked up at and was like«really? Are you kidding?» SMH!(shaking my head) My friend seemed to like his meal. He said the steak was ok. The baked potato was just a plain baked potato. It came with a cup of sour cream on the side. The broccoli was not eaten, so nothing really to say about that. The cokes were extremely sweet and flat. No carbonation whatsoever. Our waitress, Sam had a great smile and a welcoming personality. It was this and only this that still inspired me to leave a 25% tip for her. I dunno. I see most other reviewers have enjoyed their meals here. Maybe it was just(bad) «luck of the draw» on this one for me. Just my honest review. Not exactly a meal I would consider dropping $ 80 on again in the future.

Went here 2 weeks ago. I get that it was a Saturday night, so I understand it was busy. But to wait 30 min after being seated and not have one person just even introduce themselves to us as our waiter was ridiculous. In that half hour we had multiple eye contact with people that appeared to be servers, yet still no one came over to our table. We basically had to assign a waitress to our table ourselves by flagging someone down. The waitress we stopped apologized and said it was very busy. Obviously we saw that, but to not even acknowledge us as waiting customers and give a few min just to introduce yourself, ridiculous! Eventually, we got our orders in. But still I can’t get over how you can just keep passing by our table and make eye contact with us, yet never stop and ask if we were being serviced. Literally I saw these 2 waiters go to every table but ours. Our food was another 40 min wait. Tasted good. But definitely not worth the wait for it, or the wait before that.

This place is honestly… GREAT. the food was amazing, we had wings, pretzels, calamari, and flatbread and all were so delicious! we definitely did not leave any leftovers. We called ahead and someone who answered the phone said to come in we dont need reservations. So we did and as soon as we walked in the hostess asked if we had reservations. I think poor communication and having waitstaff answer the phone may need to be addressed but aside from that… it was a good experience. We were seated 20 min later(a bit of a wait but what can we do) the waiter and the hostess made sure we were comfy all night and we forgot about everything. i highly recommend, but definitely make a reservation ahead of time.

This bar/restaurant is so fantastic, but like most people… I don’t want to share. From the outside it doesn’t seem like a ‘go to’ spot for much more than a drink because it’s near the railroad and is positioned in between other retails locations, but trust me, JUSTGOINSIDE!!! ATMOSPHERE: I went there last night(Monday) as they were completing their holiday decorations and everyone was so welcoming from the moment I came in the door. The atmosphere is simple, but can clearly be romantic and will also allow you to enjoy the game at the bar with friends. I LOVE places like this where there are a few regulars but also some ‘newbies’ like myself which and allows you to feel so comfortable. SERVICE: I recently moved to the neighborhood and I have been looking for a bar/restaurant with great food, atmosphere and service. I found ALL3 here at The 3rd Rail. The staff approached me as soon as I walked in and seated me at the bar as I requested. Both bartenders, John & Wally were so personable and great at their jobs. They were friendly, knew the menu very well and made our stay really fun. We went for a quick drink and ended up staying for 4 hours and watched the football game. FOOD: John, our bartender for the 1st leg suggested we get the Diesel Burger and the Old Caboose. They were unbelievably delicious! I don’t usually finish an entire burger, but I stuffed my Diesel burger down my throat so fast, I almost hurt myself. My guest, who is a super picky eater, loved the Turkey burger and Caesar salad(dressing was ‘on point’). Just when we thought we had enough, Wally, the bartender for the 2nd leg of our stay suggested we try the Lava cake. Also, absolutely perfect and super tasty. We couldn’t believe what we discovered with this place, and just couldn’t leave, we were having so much fun. We enjoyed ourselves so much talking to the bartenders and other guests that we ended up finishing quite a few cocktails and had to take Wally up on his suggestion of ordering the Sriracha Chili wings. Yes, I said wings, I know it’s after dessert, but we kept drinking and next thing you know the game was on. You gotsta eat wings with the Football game, I mean C’MON!!! To finish… you MUST try this place even if you’re not from the area. It’s worth the trip for a nice, casual meal or to watch the game at the bar. Bottom line, the food is phenomenal! Thanks to Management for putting together such a nice team. They all seemed to enjoy working together and that’s the type of energy I prefer to be around. Kudos to the Manager for walking over to check on us during our stay. Nice, important touch!

Not sure why someone thought the portions were small. I was overwhelmed with the food given. Awesome burgers and the appetizers are tasty. Loved the baked potato skins in particular.

Finally got around to visiting the 3rd Rail this past weekend and it was an all around solid experience. Seated promptly, friendly staff, good service, solid drinks and the food was very good. Greeted twice by owner/chef — always a good move in my books. Burger was excellent, chicken fingers were spot on, good french fries, really good hot chicken wings and a solid wedge salad! Complimentary pasta salad when you first sit down was different but it was really tasty and much appreciated. I’ll be back again as they had many items I want to try especially from their appetizers, giant pretzel looked awesome and the thai calamari must be tried. I sincerely hope the 3rd Rail does not suffer from the curse of this location as it has been a revolving door of restaurants for many years. This one a keeper — I really hope they stay!!!

Reuben sandwich portion was tiny and $ 3 extra for a salad and they take away the fries? Burger was good and fries portion was small. Ginger ale was syrupy. Acoustics were loud.

Nice and spacious. Super friendly bartenders let us try any/all beers we weren’t familiar with and even the owner. It’s Long Island so I don’t need to say the ppl are friendly and talkative lol … … Also if your looking for a «snack» you can’t go wrong with the Giant Pretzel. It’s just that. Giant lol

Came here yesterday on the 4th, and was pleasantly surprised. Nice by the glass wine selection. I enjoyed a glass of Malbec, while my fiancé had the amber ale. The pasta salad that was brought out in place of a bread basket was good. We both had burgers — and they were cooked perfectly ! My fiancé had a burger topped with sautéed mushrooms, and I had a burger topped with avocado and spinach — delicious ! I saw someone else had ordered the giant pretzel– have to come back to try that ! Great décor and service, as well! Our waiter Frank, was attentive and sweet. Will definitely be coming back soon !

Everything was amazing! A local go to for sure!!! We started with 2 flights– beers were delicious and cold. We then had buffalo shrimp which was to die for. Our main courses were fantastic as well. Our waitress Ciara really made the experience enjoyable. She was informative, patient and attentive. The owner sits down and makes you feel like family! We live local and will be back for sure. A MUSTGOTO!!!

I was a little skeptical of all the positive reviews so shortly after this place opened, but my wife and I just got back from dinner at The 3rd Rail and all the great reviews are completely justified and dead on. I can’t count how many restaurants have been in this spot the past few years, and some were better than others, but this is the best by far! The potato skins were some of the best I’ve ever had, with a big scoop of sour cream(unlike the tiny ramekin you get at most restaurants), and the burgers were cooked PERFECTLY! Usually when you order anything cooked medium or medium-rare you just kind of prepare yourself for it coming out like a hockey puck, but both our burgers came out exactly right. The Diesel Burger is amazing, by the way. Just the right amount of heat, and the potato bun is awesome! And the best part? Beer flights! Tons of great craft beers on draft so it helps to be able to try 4 at a time. Jim, the owner, stopped by every table while we were there, was helping out bussing tables and running food, recommended some beers for us and even sent over 2 extra samples after dinner. We’ll definitely be going back!

Finally a place in this location I hope stays and succeeds. Same chef/owner as Popei’s in Bethpage, but this offers more of a pub fare. Started with the wings and jumbo pretzel. The wings were surprisingly good, cooked well, not too much sauce, and good bleu cheese. The pretzel, was cooked too long, and was a little too hard. The dipping sauces were good, not great, wouldn’t order the pretzel again. For dinner, there were a bunch of us, I ordered the Rail Burger. A burger with pulled pork on top, and i added swiss cheese. Cooked Medium, this was pretty good. The burger was barrrreeelllyyyy overcooked, but still pretty good. I’d order it again. Tasted two other dishes that were pretty good as well. And the other two people I was with enjoyed their food too. Nothing to blow you out of the water, but if you want a nice pub atmosphere, or a burger/wrap/sandwich, i’d come here instead of going to a dinner. Good pricing on most of the menu as well.
