Went there for dinner after a day on the beach. They do not take reservations for Sunday night however, we were seated upon arrival at 5:30. Had the Oysters Rockefeller and Shrimp Salad. Both were very good. We sat outside on a beautiful night. Enjoyed the experience. Our waitress Carolyn 59 was very pleasant and attentive.

My family of 6 ate at Kleins last Saturday. We ordered many different items, and several beverages. Beers were OK, but pricey. The entrees, salmon esp. which was a «special» were OVERPRICED and UNDERSIZED ! Atmosphere was OK, on the Inlet, but that was the only really positive. Service was slooow. I had recently been to Red Lobster in Ocean Twp. My advice, forget the location appeal and have a REALLY bountiful meal at RL.

Awful! Shane on the jersey shore, where I’ve been coming for so many years. But the restaurants KLEINS all 3rd rate at best. Mushy veggies, small overdone seafood, subpar cuts of beef. Sad.

I’ve always loved Klein’s. Their flounder Francese and lobster Mac & cheese is amazing. Their sushi is also very, very good. However, last night I had a disappointing experience when I ordered the tuna tartar as an appetizer. It was quite literally the spicy tuna sushi filling formed into a paté. Very deceiving from the description on the menu and from what I know tuna tartar is supposed to be. I love spicy tuna, when it’s in my sushi. But, when it’s just in a blob and you eat it with a fork, it’s mushy and much less appetizing since it looks like a can of cat food splatted onto a plate. For $ 12, I would hope that they make this dish a little better from here on out.

Had been to Kleins in the past, as recent as last year and the food was satisfactory. Went there for dinner and was told 25 minutes wait, but there were plenty of open tables. Was seated within 15 minutes. Service was marginal, too many young inexperienced waiters. We had to ask for the basics that should have been there. We were not offered a choice of sides, food was just brought out. The food was not fresh tasting and was cold when brought out. Very disappointing and will definitely not be returning.

The food was really bad. Lacked flavor. It seems like a place that gets away with reputation and location. Waitress tried her best and was super sweet but overworked. Probably because she had to manage complaints from dissatisfied customers. Sushi was great, though.

The blackened bluefish and grouper were saltier than anything I’ve ever ordered from a restaurant or cooked at home. Oysters were good, bread was ok, cole slaw… I didn’t touch as I tend not to trust any restaurant with mayonnaise products. The soup seemed like it came from a can and seemed to have a cornstarch base. I go here every so often. Belmar is about an hour away; I visit during the winter, spring, summer and fall. I usually go to Klein’s as there is a certain thing I like about sitting by the water and having a cold Yuengling. That’s the thing, it’s all about location and they are spoiled by it as they don’t really need to serve stellar products. I usually get the fish and chips with oysters. Those tend to come out good; I can get better in Philly and I can make better at home — yet. they come out good. Venture off to try the blackened fish… and I’m rewarded with a mouthful of salt. I think what makes the restaurant a great spot is the water yet I think it’s also the curse. It’s a curse because it often draws a large crowd on a nice night. Mr. Shrimp is a competitor but doesn’t have the location. The crowds want the water; so they take out the debt needed to expand, then to continue to expand with the new place across the street. I suspect they’ll take over the restaurant across the street next to the parking lot just as well. The problem with this is the debt from the expansions begin to eat away at what the ability to produce decent enough quality food to maintain credibility in being able to consistently serve good food. Part of me hopes they take over the next few buildings and provide the infrastructure creation needed for further restaurants to come in as masses eventually inevitably realize the quality of the food is not up to par… …but that location…

Probably some of the worst service ever. Food was average, presentation below average but the service was really bad. My husband and I went to the bar for a drink before dinner and we got to listen to the bar tender talk about how grouchy she was and then when we had dinner with his parents for their anniversary I think our waitress checked on us maybe 3 times? Plates piled up and drinks ran out. And when she did check on us and we asked questions about the menu she seemed genuinely confused. We all assumed she was«newer» but then saw her training someone. We will probably never go back which is a shame because we just moved to Belmar.

We wanted someplace a little special for our 30th anniversary. Nothing stuffy or formal. It was a beautiful night so we wanted to sit outside. We had a happy hour drink at the Tiki Bar. $ 8 for 2 drinks. So far, so good. On to the restaurant where we also sat outside. The promised bread and water never arrived. Clams Casino were ok but definitely reheated(dry). Salad was way over dressed and dressing too sweet. $ 30 Branzino was miniscule, over cooked and had no seasoning or sauce. Baked potato was reheated and burned on the bottom. Vegetables were half raw half mushy and unseasoned. The only positive comment is that the waiter was happy to remove the price of my uneaten dinner from the bill. Nice place but stick to the burgers and fries if you go there.

Very good crab cakes. Saw cold slaw and potatoe salad left out in sun. Did not eat my cold slaw because of this. Service was so so.

Sunday Brunch Review Memorial Day Weekend 2016 We had made 1130 reservations, there was no traffic so we got there just before they opened at 11am. Parking was a breeze, they offer valet and 2 private lots. The hostess accommodated our early arrival and sat us at 11am. An adult brunch which includes a beverage, coffee, soda, juice etc is $ 26 $ 10 for children 10 and under. $ 3 for bloody mary or mimosas $ 2 for draft beer. You have 3 choices for seating, inside by the chafing dishes(buffet), outside on the dock overlooking the river in the sun or out of the sun under a canopy on the dock with the river view. The river view is ok, nice to watch the boats come in and out of the inlet. What I really liked is the location is staffed up, plenty of wait staff and excellent service. I like the fact that guests dont have to wait online for an omelet or eggs made a specific way, the waiter/waitress takes your order and it comes directly from the kitchen with a side of home fries which were very good. The same goes for waffles. The food was well above average, eggs benedict(my favorite) with the eggs soft as they should be. Scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon(cooked to perfection) ham, london broil, turkey. Bagels, lox, poached salmon, a large variety of scratch made cakes, pastries and cookies. The apple turnover was unbelievable My children loved their penne vodka. They had a small selection of sushi, very good. They had this asian cold noodle dish with soy and chopped vegetables that was outstanding. No sashimi Just california and salmon rolls although they have sushi on their regular menu and the chef was there… I wonder if he would accomodate a custom roll? What else… crab legs which were the snow crab variety steamed with melted butter were ok, very small andnthey were not sweer. The chicken francaise was solid, their stuffed flounder was a pass. They had a cipino type dish that my wife liked with clams mussels baby shrimp and baby scallops along with a clam and oyster raw bar… I was hoping they would have shrimp cocktail, I read reviews on how good it is there. Unfortunately none to be found unless you want to pay $ 15 for 4 shrimp. I saw an order come out and they looked like they may have been worth it. The hot food was all hot which makes us happy, nothing worse than cold food at a buffet. I will go back, between this brunch at Kleins and the brunch buffet at Mcloones in Long Branch, its a toss up. Mcloones has shrimp cocktail and crabcakes with a winning view of the atlantic while Kleins has Eggs benedict and a superior dessert selection with a decent view of the river. Cost wise, Kleins was $ 26 per adult and Mcloones is $ 35 per adult. I would like to go back for a straight lunch, the menu looks great and yes it is on the higher end of prices for seafood. I noticed several lunch orders coming out and they looked beautiful. There is a Kleins Fish Market next door and a quick service restaurant across the street that serves breakfast lunch and dinner.

I have been to Klein’s once before albeit for brunch. We came here because another couple we were going down the shore with wanted to go here. This restaurant backs onto the Shark River. There is a large outside seating area. There are mostly metal tables with plastic chairs. There are two bars in the outside areas. On this night there was a musician playing with the music piped into the other outside areas. This place offers a large menu with both beef and seafood. Sushi and rolls are also offered. We ordered steamers for the table. The initial order included half of which didn’t properly open. Nonetheless, the chef plated them and the waiter served them. We ultimately sent the bad ones back and had to request drawn butter because they are served with a clam broth. I also ordered a cup of New England Clam Chowder. It might have been the worst chowder I’ve ever ordered at a restaurant. It tasted as if it came right out of a can. My wife and I both ordered fresh halibut. Neither one of us enjoyed the halibut. It was tasteless. You can order it with a watermelon salsa which unfortunately did nothing to enhance the halibut. I had to request a second portion of the salsa because it only comes with a small cup to start. Moreover, the fish was not cheap and not worth the asking price. We didn’t stay for dessert or coffee. This place was crowded and they move people in and out. But for the prices they charge this place should be better.

The over critical Unilocalers have arrived. Kleins is a great outdoor spot for a date or with family. Its not a 5 star dining experiance idn why have those expectations. If you are looking for a solid place to eat down the shore Kliens will not disappoint.

I know the argument. Everyone’s complaining that Klein’s isn’t what it once was. And maybe that’s true. But I still find it to be one of my favorite places for dinner on the shore. Picture this– sitting on the marina, a delicious happy hour cocktail, a fried flounder sandwich with French fries(no more potato chips!) or their grilled salmon wrap. Also, top notch sushi. Are the portions smaller? Yes. Are the prices higher? Yes. Was it better 5 years ago? Fine, ok! But I still love Klein’s. I walk out full and happy every time I go. And I end up spending around $ 75 if I’m with my wife. I don’t know why they even offer dessert though. Every single person walk out and goes across the street to lighthouse for ice cream. All and all, always a great night out.

Picked up fish from the market to cook for dinner. Got fresh flounder, $ 64 for 3 pounds. Came out pretty good. Small place, right on the bay in Belmar near Strollos.

Stopped into the tiki bar there over the weekend for happy hour. Food was ok. Portions were big for happy hour specials. Old Bay dry rub was a bit callous, as some were just missing the rub altogether. Next time I’d just order them buffalo style. Everything came out together, so it would have been nicer if they had coursed the 3 items that we ordered… maybe bringing the oysters first. First plate was dirty, as was napkin roll-up. Staff seemed a bit indifferent, but oh well… it’s not fine-dining price tags, so didn’t really care.

My family has been going to Klein’s since I was a little kid. We decided to come here for lunch yesterday for my dad’s birthday. we decided to come here for lunch yesterday for my dad’s birthday. We had a party of 5 people and decided to sit outside on the deck on the market side. We got a nice table a few feet in from the railing with an umbrella. Our server came over to greet us and take our drink order. She didn’t seem to know a lot about the beers, as she couldn’t explain what Victory beers were like. My family enjoyed their food. I ordered a Cowboy cheeseburger. I asked for medium and it definitely was well done and a little rubbery. Keep that in mind when ordering by temperature. The BBQ sauce was the saving grace of the dish. Overall the experience was OK. Decent service, average food, great atmosphere. I might return if my family wanted to go here, but I wouldn’t go out of my way or get the burger again.
