We grew up with a summer place in Chatauqua. For years Guppy’s was the meal that I’d look forward to having. They have the BEST stromboli.(Maybe the best anywhere) Years after our family sold the place I still go up there. Now it’s with my wife and our son. After a day at Midway Park my son is begging to go to Guppy’s. Ironically, just like I begged my parents after I would spend all day at Midway too!

Guppy’s is hands down our favorite restaurant around the lake. The owners are hands on and make everyone feel welcome. The food is overall very good and the beer selection is great. Have noticed lately that consistency is down and prices have crept up.

Boisterous, friendly, casual atmosphere where you’ll have a great dinner. They have an extensive menu with excellent choices, from salad to pizzas, steak & burgers to fresh seafood. We would recommend this for anyone staying along Lake Chautauqua.

This is a great place to eat — although if you order a double order of chicken wings you can only get one flavor — in other words u cannot split the sauces so they charge you for an extra order of wings which is a total rip off !!! This ended up being a total turnoff for us because we requested to get additional sauces and they had charged us four dollars extra!

Great service! The portions were large and the food came out rather quickly even as busy they were on a Thursday night. The owner delivered our food and dropped an onion ring which we did not know. He joked about it and replaced with a nice hot one.

We had a great dinner! I was accidentally given the wrong stromboli but the staff apologized and offered me something else while I waited for the correct one. It was well worth the wait. It was delicious, as were all of our dinners and appetizers. If we’re ever in the area again, we’ll definitely go back.

During a midweek getaway, we decided to stop in for some food and beer after receiving recommendations from numerous friends. We were here for burger night on Wednesday(any burger for $ 6.99). My husband ordered the Smothered Mushroom burger and I ordered the Blue Burger, both with fries. They were cooked to order and equally delicious, although we both agreed the smothered mushroom was out of this world! They had a great selection of beers, both on tap and bottled. They even have growlers available for purchase if you plan on taking some home and drinking by the lake(which we were very tempted to do)! If we make it back to Chautauqua Lake we will definitely be coming back to Guppy’s. I would love to see what this place is like in the summer and take advantage of the outdoor seating and bar!

Inconsistent for sure but when it’s good it’s really good when bad blahhh. Prices could come down they try to be more gourmet than they really are. Overall a ok place lots of beer on tap though. Good for a afterwork cocktail.

We loved the«old» guppies — a place where you can come and have great food, in a great atmosphere — and enjoy… UnfortunatelyThis place bears no resemblance… Can you say tourist trap ??? Lines too long — staff appears to be on tranquilizers… Too sad …

Nice atmosphere. Good beer selection on tap. To eat we had the wings, nachos and crab cheese dip for appetizers. I had the battered haddock as my entrée. All was very good. Average price is $ 25 to $ 30 per person, I would go to Guppy’s again if I am in the area.

Guppy’s is a nice local place that somehow turns out decent grub for such a small kitchen. We normally go there in the winter and stop there after skiing for some food. Theres usually a wait in the small bar which is tolerable unless it is 2 degrees outside and the door is constantly opening. They do not have much room to expand and it looks like they have added on over the years. The restrooms leave something to be desired as the are a restroom/storage/janitorial closet as well. Remind me of a restroom in an RV and are more of a «bar pisser» than a restaurant restroom. Overall, for the choices you have around the lake they are our #1 choice and go-to place, next to the«casino». Give it a try, it’s got a warm family feel to it.

This is an awesome little place to grab a casual yet delicious meal. Cheap prices and for the extent of the menu, they do a lot of dishes quite well. I had the garden veggie calzone, which was honestly the largest calzone I’ve ever seen served and by far the largest one I’ve ever eaten. The marinara sauce here is quite good. I’d say this is a great place to go for a lazy Sunday afternoon meal.

Really a perfect place for the area. I had a hard time determining if this was a nicer sit down place or a beer and wings type bar. Answer: both. There were families dining, as well as couples on a date(us!) And everyone in between. We dined on a Sunday night and it was not to busy, we had to wait for a table to be reset before being seated. I had on nice jeans, heels, and a nice top on… Thought I might be over dressed. Definitely was not. But I also would have felt comfortable wearing a hoodie here for dinner. Service was good, waitress was friendly and attentive. I ordered the pound of mussels as an appetizer all to myself(boyfriend is highly allergic to seafood so I order it when I have the chance!) We picked this place mainly for their diverse menu. Boyfriend ordered fillet mignon. He ate every bite. My mussels were delicious and even made me more hungry(which is what apps are supposed to do!) So I had high hopes for the clams over pasta. Unfortunately my entrée was incredibly garlicky and salty. It was good but not nearly as tasty as expected. Boyfriend loved the steak though. It was wrapped in bacon. He is an incredibly picky eater so I always give places extra props when he is happy. Southern Tier beer on tap. Pumking at the end of August! Woo! Final observation: prefect for a causal night out for any walk of life if you are in the region. We like to think that lake Chautauqua is one of or best kept secrets, but more people need to know how special and fun this area is :)

Very impressed with this restaurant. I’ve been there three times now and have always been very happy with the service we have received and I love the outdoor eating area/bar. There are a lot of food choices on the menu, which makes it difficult to decide, but everything is very good. Last time I went they had a Greek Salad special and I was very impressed. I agree with another reviewer, «A must visit if you’re in the area.»

Great drink selection and good prices. Drinks are okay priced, but there are better places, but few beat the selection. A wide range of food from pasta, to pizza, and sandwiches. I think this is one of the few places that I have been where the quantity also meets good quality. If you order the calzone, it is easily large enough for two people, the sandwiches are also large, and filled to the brim of the crust with good toppings. Tiny eclectically decorated dining room.

Despite the fact that I have grown up here in Chautauqua County I must admit I am ashamed to say that until recently I had not tried the food at Guppy’s. Most admittedly it is because the couple of times that this establishment came into my mind as an idea for libation and sustenance, the parking lot was overflowing. I will be honest here, I don’t mind waiting but I am not going to wait over an hour and a half for a table anywhere… Finally, a couple of weeks ago, we decided to give Guppy’s a try when a friend was in town from Maryland. First thought: Excellent beer selection. Second thought: ridiculously small waiting space while waiting for your table(which was going to be 45 minutes). We felt in the way and were squished into a small corner for most of the duration of our wait. All that being said, when we finally were given a seat the food was fantastic. The menu was a little ridiculous. Too much on it, too much writing, too many colors, very hokey. I went with what I have heard they were known for, the fish fry. It was amazing. Not too much batter, nice and crispy on the outside, and soft and flaky on the inside. Exactly how it should be. We also ordered the Mussels as an appetizer. I wanted to lick my fingers the broth was so good.

*CLOSEDMONDAYS* Came here on a Tuesday which was Wings night — .40 cent wings(minimum of 5 orders required — and can’t take home any left overs) Ordered 20 wings, Sweet and Spicy and Oh Boy(which is suppose to be their hottest wings). The Oh Boy was not oh boy at all. It was just regular hot(they have a hot level as well). If you can handle spicy wings, don’t worry about oh boy being too hot. Wings were decent. Have had better but can’t complain with it being 40 cents a piece. Sweet Potato Fries — It was a bit on the thin and skinny side so there was a lot of friedness going on then tasting fresh or potato like. Was too fried or they should change their cuts to larger pieces. The highlight was the beer was on the cheaper side. I heard this place gets packed out and long waits are unavoidable in the summer. Came in November(Tuesday) around 6pm and no line and tables available.

One of the best places to go to on Chautauqua lake. I’ve tried others but end up coming back here the most. The selection of South Tier brews(and others) is fantastic. The burgers, hand tossed pizza, strombolis and desserts are great. Most of the staff is very friendly. Was a bit disappointed that the bar staff doesn’t know how to make common mixed drinks, but they are friendly. The drinks and food specials are too expensive but the menu is priced well. They have cool merchandise too. Overall, I love the place. It’s our default stop. Just be prepared for a wait during weekend dinner hours… and it’s noisy and a bit cramped. Seems like a good candidate for Wifi, but they don’t have it.

When a girl needs some beer and ribs this is the place to run to. Upbeat atmosphere, excellent waitstaff, quick service, and varied menu. Our table ranged from Asian stir fry to beef on weck, a wrap, to BBQ chx and ribs. And the best surprise was when my NJ cousins wanted to pick up the bill and their face dropped at how«cheap» all that food and drink was.
