Been going to this place for years. It had a rough spot near the end of the previous owner, when she basically did not care anymore but did not have it sold. and then when the new owner bought it. of course there were hiccups as she learned the business, fixed a bunch of stuff that the previous owner messed up — including staff, décor, and even her own experience as an owner. But. being there recently, you can see how things are brighter, happier, and smoother. I think Ashley has done a beautiful job of making this place run. and the food and service are great. This is one of my favorite go-to breakfast places in the SL Valley !

Been here twice and both times service was okay. Everyone we were with thought the food wasn’t good or gross. We like Rockys way better.

A decent place for breakfast. Cozy, local and friendly. We all got some version of eggs. I had biscuits and gravy. Not the best I’ve had but certainly not the worst. Service was good. Coffee was replenished frequently but not overly so. The small place was packed on a Sunday morning.

No veterans day special menu Had to take family and our veteran son into Santa Cruz For his free pancake breakfast. He kept us safe in our beds for two tours in Iraq and its sad that we have to take him to Dennys to get him thanks for his aervice. Shame on the management!

We loved Spanky’s — having been driving past for 7 years, decided to see what it was all about, the outside doesn’t do it justice, it’s really cute and quaint inside and clean! The waitress we had was rather wonderful, she made our experience really nice. The food was good, eggs benedict was great. Hear it’s busy on weekends but weekdays it’s lovely and quiet. Open till 2pm so our new place for lunch because our brewery burnt down in Boulder Creek.

Coffee is OK. Eggs are outstanding. Croissant french toast is a marvel of our age.

We had a great experience at Spankys… Food was great… service was awesome. I think the person that Unilocal reviewed about the nasty owner had the wrong person. Ashley is sweet, fun and friendly… ANDTHEOWNER. This is our new go to place for weekend breakfast.

Breakdown, the owner is extremely rude. Not welcoming. We didn’t get are drinks refilled ONCE. And again, the owner was extremely rude. We went this morning. The food was delicious but the service was sub-par. We originally say inside because there was no space on the back patio, One of the waitresses when we were sitting inside was very nice and friendly. When we switched tables as one cleared in the back we got the owner as a waitress. The owner however was very rude. We ordered a lot of food so you’d think they’d at least smile or check in on you, but no if anything she had a stink look on her face the entire time and was the last thing from welcoming! We also got the tiniest drink cups and we were all finished with are beverages before a food even came, but when are food got there are cups got no attention and stayed empty until we left. She had 3 tables, it wasn’t even a busy day she was just straight rude. Very disappointing it was the owner! We plan on moving to the area and we’re looking for some casual choice places to eat when we move but not entirely sold on going back due to the extremely rude owner. I wish we just stayed inside the cramped indoor eating area to keep the nice waitress inside but it was too small for are party of 5

Ew. I gave this two stars because our server was great. I also liked the outdoor seating with toys and a little place for kids to explore. But the food was close to terrible. Not good tasting. At. All. The potatoes tasted like old grill. It was just… bad.

I could have have looked past the shitty service if the waitresses seemed hungover but instead I think they just sucked at waitressing. They might just hate travelers or something.

Another stellar breakfast. The part is that for the price, I still have a hard time finishing my plate. Portions are plentiful and prices competitive. They’re doing an excellent job and mornings are always busy there. The staff is constantly checking if things are ok and asking if you need anything refilled. What a gem in little old Ben Lomond.

I love this place. the atmosphere is almost like you’re sitting at home in your own kitchen, but at the end of the large portioned, delicious meal, you don’t have to clean up! I’ve always been served with friendly faces and the cook, mike, is always accommodating and helpful, not to mention talented behind a grill! I’ve recommended this place to many people and I’ve never heard a complaint from them. great place to spend the morning!

I’d read a review in the Sentinel which mentioned homemade corned beef hash and chicken fried steak, two of our favorite brekkies. So I took the hubby to Spanky’s this morning. First rule of any breakfast joint, keep the coffee cup filled. FAIL. Actually, that’s the second rule. The first rule is make GOODCOFFEE to keep me entertained while I wait for nearly half an hour before the breakfast arrives. FAIL. Unfortunately, it was not worth the wait. The worst corn beef hash ever. FAIL. Biscuits and gravy tasted like paper pulp and wheat paste. FAIL. We didn’t finish our breakfasts. When my husband’s breakfast arrived, I asked, where’s the gravy? He lifted the steak to reveal about a tablespoon of gravy on the plate.(Anyone who likes chicken fried steak knows it’s just a vehicle for the gravy.) I leave you with two words: greasy and bland. I long for a wonderful breakfast place in the San Lorenzo Valley; I’m disappointed that this is not that place.

Great place for breakfast! Small place so I wouldn’t recommend a big group(even of five) unless you give them a heads up. We all liked our food and I thought their biscuits and gravy were outstanding! Most of the family had lunch items — cheese steak sandwich, burgers and all said they were very good, especially for the price. No fryer, so no french fries, but breakfast comes with pan fried potatoes and lunch comes with choice of green, macaroni or potato salad that were all tasty. Definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area.

Been here twice and they are two for two. Last meal was with family, and we were in agreement — tasty food in a tiny dive of a café. Hamburger was large and juicy, and everyones meal looked good. I like their patio seating when the weather is warm. Even simple eggs and bacon are well executed. Hash browns are crispy. Enough said.

I thought the food here was pretty good. I ordered the blueberry hot cakes with bacon and eggs. Came here on Mothers Day and wasn’t busy luckily. Our server was great. Very attentive and friendly. I really liked it. It’s in a small town and the restaurant had a at home feel.

Went here again on our way back home from vacationing in Boulder Creek. Love this place! The people who own/work here are great! Extremely friendly and will always go the extra step to make your visit more than memorable. The food here is fantastic, I’ve yet to eat anything I haven’t just loved! If your in the area and looking for one of the best breakfasts/lunches around check out Spanky’s! Fabulous value all the way around!

It’s a Mom and Pop like diner. I saw other reviews that said it is dirty… It was super Clean! I mean it’s an old place but it’s clean! It’s a cramped sort of spot, that is what gives it the little diner feel though! They allow your dog on patio which is always a plus for us! Chilibella loves to go with us on weekend drives so we always have to find places with patio seating! The service was excellent! Both servers we had were smiling and friendly! That is always a plus! They were attentive and checked on is often :) The stuffed French toast was more like stuffed pancakes but it was still so yummy! I would order it again! The BF enjoyed the potato scramble and remarked how it was filling and tasty! Large portions! Chilibella loved the half a piece of bacon she tried. She gave it rave reviews and agreed with us that it was cooked perfectly !! We both agreed on one thing though. The biscuits that are served with the gravy… Dry… Oh so dry. A crumbly dry. The gravy was awesome and so you eat the biscuit . Will we go back? Yes! It’s a great little place with some great character, service and food! Thanks for having us and our dog !!

This breakfast place is great! Lots of food for the price! I got a full breakfast for only $ 8 The interior reminds me of an old 50’s diner back in the day… pictures of the little rascals hints the name Spanky’s. Very friendly staff.
