We have lived in Bend for about 8 months and have been looking for a place to get Chinese Carry Out. The restaurant is extremely clean and the portions are huge. My wife got a combination plate of chicken and vegetables with steamed rice and I had the sesame chicken. I opted for fried rice and it is the real deal and not the yellow, I’m not sure what type of meat this is variety. It is obviously a family run joint and they were extremely pleasant to talk to while we waited for our food. This is definitely going to be a go to place for us.

Our family was driving from Calif., to Spokane, WA, staying overnight in Bend. We found this restaurant using Unilocal. We arrived late but was greeted by the owner and warmly welcomed. We placed our order and was pleasantly surprised with the quality, flavor, and portion size. We will definitely return to this restaurant when we make future trips through Bend, OR. Yes, it’s a drive out from the main part of town but it’s worth the 2 mile drive.

This is my favorite Chinese food restaurant. We have eaten in and taken out many times and every time the service is friendly and timely. I don’t like most noodles but their lo mein is the only kind I’ll eat. It does not taste like wet dog, unlike some other restaurants’ noodles. We usually order their pork fried rice and it’s been consistent every time. I completely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a Chinese restaurant to make their go-to.

Save your gut, do not waste your time and especially do not waste your money! I never write bad reviews and I really did not want to write a bad review with a local company. I pulled up the menu from online and saw that they do not use certain ingredients and our family appreciates that. Online menu showed us that are total was $ 30.02 When we called on the phone to order, the man was rude on the phone and the one thing I asked for to please be in there was sweet n sour sauce for the all the appetizers we had ordered. When we show up to pick the food he said the total was $ 37. We asked why the price is different, he stared at us with a blank face, handed us a menu and said«new menu»… Ok, so we have to pay more because you raised your prices but did not update the menu online! Your problem, not mine! But of course we paid for it. Then when we got the bags of food they were tied up, so I asked if there was sweet n sour as well as spicy mustard.(Not much to ask for) I remember back in the day when you did not even have to ask for those condiments. He said«yes, everything you wanted is in there» Sure you know where this is going… Neither of those were in there. Meat was dry and chewy! We’re not picky eaters. I have a home of boys and they did not even want it! We own a business across the street and I find it sad when people run their business this way but to top it off he was incredibly rude the entire time! We remained polite. You lost us before you even had us. I will make sure to let the locals know. Treat us right and we treat you right!

Tried Double Happiness restaurant after reading a great review in the Bulletin. Have returned several times, to try a fair number of dishes, each being better than the previous one. The meat(chicken in particular) is quality — not the dark fatty/grissol chicken some restaurants use in the breaded dishes. The food arrives hot and sizzling, and the aromas get those tastebuds going every time! The beef is tender, shrimp fresh and properly cooked, and the veggies are never overcooked, After trying 4 Chinese restaurants in Bend over the past year, with disappointing results, I had just about given up on finding good Chinese food in Bend. This is a place that I highly recommend, and will enjoy bringing friends and family here, in the future.

I am in a generous mood tonight(I am SUCH a nice person, my wife and kids tell me that all the time … NOT) so I will give Double Happiness 3 stars. Truth be told, they are somewhere between good and mediocre, but I cannot give them 2 stars. Their steamed dumplings were … gooey, and the dumpling filling was extremely dense and borderline dry. The dipping sauce was fine. I had their signature dish — Double Happiness — and it was like all other diced hot plate dishes I have had. At least the ingredients were fresh, the texture of the seafood was firm and not mushy, and the sauce did not detract from the dish. Overall impression was«bland all over». At least I have complete confidence that I will not get sick from eating there. But other than that, there is nothing about Double Happiness that makes it stand out from all the myriad American Chinese places that cater to Round Eyes.

This is the best Chinese food in Bend. I’ve popped in here many times since they opened in… 2005 I think. It was amazing back then. Now it’s just good, but still so much better than the alternatives in Bend.

I found something inedible in my to-go food order. Ugh! I called them up, and basically they don’t care. In fact, the guy got very defensive and basically said it’s my fault… which of course doesn’t make any sense. There are too many chinese restaurants in town to give this place your money. GOELSEWHERE.

We read the reviews before visiting this restaurant and were please by our service and the food! We ordered food to go and waited there for about 10 minutes, which is an excellent about of time. We had a 2 year old with us waiting and the ladies working at the time were so nice and gave him a cracker packet and a fortune cookie to occupy him with(thank you!). It worked like a charm! You get a TON of food for the amount paid and it was very delicious. I ordered a combo meal and substitued the Low Mein for the Chow Mein($ 1 more) and it was delicious, just like the reviews said. My husband ordered the Mother’s Chicken(another reviewer suggested) and he loved it. Overall thumbs up for great customer service and a delicious meal!

The last time we ate here the service was slow and the food was a bit cold. I asked for my soup to be hotter and the server acted like she didn’t understand me. That seemed odd considering everything else I said to her she understood immediately and responded in beautiful English. I think she was just irritated that I asked.

Out of all the Chinese restaurants in Bend this one is the best! I have my favorites other places but double happiness is consistently great! Whenever I’m in the mood for Chinese this is where my husband and I go. The manager is very nice. A little timid but very nice. Favorites are mandarin pork, chicken vegetable and crab puffs.

Poor Double Happiness. If I was writing this review 2 yrs ago it would have been glowing. They were great. However, this is sadly no longer the case. :( We order take-out from Double Happiness from time to time(maybe every other month or so) and have noticed that the quality of the food has been declining. It’s a crap shoot as to whether or not everything in our order(that we paid for) winds up in the bag. However, we decided to go to Double Happiness for dinner on Mother’s Day this year after cruising through the Chan’s parking lot and being unable to find a single parking space and spying a line out the door. We probably just should have scrapped getting Chinese food that night because Double Happiness was NOT a good alternative. The surly man behind the counter when we entered basically growled at us and quickly seated us in a booth that wasn’t the best choice for a family with a baby in an infant carrier. We made do, though, and pulled up a chair for the carrier. Our server, a young woman probably 20ish, wanted to take our order about a minute after we sat down. We told her we weren’t ready yet, so she left and reappeared about 2 minutes later. We told her again that we still hadn’t decided. She left and then appeared about 3 minutes later. My husband and I just looked at each other in astonishment. Had to laugh about that one. Anyhow, the husband order
