This shops herbs are not fresh and don’t have any flavor I was very disappointed. They are not organic and are not grown sustainably. I bought a few things because I was there and they were awful. I would go to local ore or a health food store for fresh herbs if you want the real flavor

This place is so great! We love discovering new flavors and recipes in the shop. We have quite the collection of spices now bad use them almost daily. Some of our favorites are the Vanilla Bean Sugar and Peruvian Chile Lime Seasoning. Oh, and the Ghost Pepper Salt — that’s what brought us in the first time. We got the spicy salt as a gift for a relative who really loves all things super spicy. He loved the ghost pepper and we’ve bought it several times since. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Very nice people. We always look forward to our visits here.

Great shop! We visited on a slow fall afternoon and were greeted by an aromatic treat as we entered the store. The staff greeted us and helped us create a custom selections of salts for a house warming gift. Service was outstanding and the selection impressive.

This is a great little shop! The spices that I’ve bought are reasonably priced. I love that you’re able to sample, and the employees are always friendly and helpful. They sometimes to small classes and stuff at its really great. They have very common spices and spices that I’ve never heard of.

On a recent trip to Bend I found this little gem. I happen to have the store owner offer to help as I was shopping. He was knowledgeable and clearly not only had a passion for his craft but he was focused on making sure I got what I wanted based on my own tastes. My wife and I used every spice he recommended within the first week and loved every one. This is a great store with great employees who care about their customers. If you make it to Bend its a great place to stop!

If you love to cook or bake… this store is your«candy store»! While visiting Bend, we just had to stop in here! As we walked in, my scenses perked up with all the smells of the spices in here! It smelled so good! I didn’t know where to start, shelves on both sides of the store and back wall were stocked with spices of all kinds. They do have them categorized by type, baking, poultry, salts, etc… The gal working there greeted us right away and explained their product. She said that smell we were so intrigued by, was a mix of all their spices on the floor! Say what, on the floor? She says, feel free to taste any, pour some in your hand and toss the rest on the floor. Sweet, my kind of store! We had fun tasting all the different spices in here. Their prices are decent as well! They have gift baskets made up in case you cant’ decide on what to buy as a gift. They also have some ghost chili salt, the jar says«do not open»! My sweetie tried some of this, just a teeny weeny bit, and he had some warmth goin’ on in his mouth! I can’t image what I would cook this with! We walked out with some cool smoked salt that we later used on Salmon, that was the BEST Salmon we have grilled yet! So if you love to cook/bake, well you must go into this spice store!

Today was the first time I went there. This store is perfect for finding a gift for that person who has everything. I was there for well over an hour sampling spices! A little pricy but for being in the Old Mill, it was expected. I would have liked the staff to greet me and help me more. It wasn’t until the end had they stopped gabbing with each other and asked if I needed anything. When I did interrupt their convo numerous times for help, they were really nice and helped, but then just went right back into their social lives. Didn’t think they got paid to gossip and for the whole store to hear.

This spice shop is a gourmets dream come true! You can literally smell the deliciousness before you open the door. I could have spent hours here. Anyone looking for a particular spice, or desiring just a dab of spice to test. this is the place! They have samples of nearly all their goods and as little as half ounce parcels. I purchased honey powder, hungarian paprika, ghost salt, himalayan smoke salt, habanaero powder, greek mixture for chicken, vindaloo, cheese powder, and some caradamom seed. But that only scratches the surface. If you have ANY spice needs or are simply a gourmet visiting Bend you MUST go here!!! The people working there are more than happy to assist with quantities and aren’t at all put out by measuring out small amounts of any spice you’d like to try. I can’t wait to go again! —Side note – this is in a higher class strip mall of sorts so be prepared to vie for parking amongst the Victoria Secret/Chicos mommas on their way to a sale — One nearly side swiped me on her way to the White House Black Markiet. Savory Spice Shop opened today in the Old Mill Shops(next door to Ginger’s Kitchenware). The aroma as you enter the shop is intoxicating and the array of dried herbs, spices and custom blended seasonings is dazzling — 400 dried herbs and spices and 140 custom blends make up the inventory. Really, you can see why conflicts raged over the Spice Trade Routes in times past! Imagine cooking or baking without these wonderful flavors. The Bend Store is a franchise location of a company started in Denver in 2009. The folks who staff the Bend store are so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. You can buy as little of the products as you like as the store staff will portion them out of big jars for you.(Buying smaller quantities is key in keeping dried herbs and spices flavorful so you use them up before their flavor is lost.) Some are prepackaged into popular 2 oz size jars, perfect for spice drawers or cabinets at home. Taster jars are on the shelves for many of the items, and if you don’t see a taster for something you want to try, just ask the staff. We sailed away from our maiden voyage visit(there will be many more to come) with many things including Brittany Fleur de Sel, Sea Salt with Italian Black Truffles, Harissa Spice Blend, dried porcini mushrooms, the under appreciated kitchen gem celery seed and a jar of beautiful preserved lemons. As soon as I can find those Peruvian recipes calling for Aji peppers that I tucked away until I found the peppers, I’ll be back as Savory Spice had those lemony flavored pepper gems in both dried whole and ground form. We especially appreciated the array of Indian and Moroccan spice blends. Not to mention the several options they had of one of my favorite spices, cardamom, that appears in so many different ethnic cuisines in dishes sweet and savory. Yahoo! This will be our go to place now for all kinds of spices and dried herbs. Yes, we’ve been to the other well known herb and spice vendor, which shall remain nameless but the initials are Penzeys. It may be a matter of different strokes for different folks, but we found the Savory Spice Shop better on many levels. If you live in Bend or if you’re visiting, you should stop in and experience this amazing place. Your nose and tastebuds will thank you. And here’s an idea — dried herbs and spices, in particular harder to find seasoning mixes(Ras el Hanout, Garam Masala, Za’Taar) make wonderful hostess or holiday gifts, especially when tucked in a pretty bag or box with a recipe or two. Tis almost the season! :-) Here’s another idea — pop up a bowl of popcorn, sprinkle the Italian Black Truffle salt over it and pour a sparkler(as in wine). What a simple, perfect treat to celebrate life’s gifts.
