I’ve never actually left a review on Unilocal before but this definitely heeds warning. Worst Mio Sushi food I’ve had. They put ketchup in their yakisoba noodle dish. Seriously, ketchup. I love Mio Sushi in Portland and was so disappointed by my experience in Bend!

I think 2 ½ stars is a little harsh. More like 3 ½. So I’ll give them 4 to even things out a bit. Sushi was good but the service was a little sluggish. Sign at the front said«please wait to be seated» but there was no hostess to be found. We bellied up to the sushi bar and had a nice afternoon snack. The food was very good and the server was attentive. Overall, a positive experience.

Horrible experience. Sat down at the sushi bar and was driven off. If you say your closing at a particular time, be consistent. Bad form and bad business.

The sushi in this restaurant is quite good. The waitresses are friendly. But when I saw the prices on the menu I was surprised! There was a difference of some dollars in the special rolls. I asked the waitress and she told me that there are different restaurants with different prices. I decided to not tip the girl for the full amount and wrote a message to the restaurant to compensate her for that.

Wow I read the last several reviews, and that isn’t what we experienced at all. We came in for lunch on the weekend, it wasn’t too busy. We were seated quickly and given menus. We selected a few sushi rolls and ordered some soup. Our waitress was friendly, took our drink orders right away, came back and took our sushi order. Our soup came out hot and right away, and the sushi was not too far behind. The prices for rolls seemed decent($ 6 – 9). They tasted great. We had a good lunch without any issues at all.

I wish I could give more stars. The other reviews were not kidding when they talked about how bad the sushi was here. I had some hope since the other Mio locations I’ve been to were really good, so it surprised me when I got my sushi and after the first bite wished I hadn’t even bothered. Def a big waste of money. I gave 2 stars because the servers were really nice.

So disappointed with the service I received last night. I felt like they discriminated against a group of only 6 people, four adults and two children. I have never been treated so poorly. There was plenty of room and had plenty of tables open. The waitress wouldn’t even allow us to speak to the manager. Let’s just say we will never be going back. Pastini’s had no trouble in seating us quickly and they were full.

I only went once while in Bend on holiday and it was a very nice setting and the service was really nice. The place was clean and modern and the food was very fresh and well prepared. I will go back when Im in town.

This place is a total joke, run for the door. They have no clue about the word hospitality. I think anyone in the two star range should be kicked out of the Old Mill, it’s a total waste of GREAT space! Ugh!

Yesterday was the first day we went to mio sushi in the down town old mill district. The service war friendly. The food was ok. I will not go back because today I am home sick with food poisoning. Horrible cramps, diarrhea and vomiting and to mention not worth the money.

I was there last night for my birthday dinner. I have a shellfish allergy and told the waitress I had the allergy. When I asked her if the miso soup was made of shellfish she said it had fish sauce and didn’t know what that was made of, I asked her to ask the cook and she said, «well I guess I can do that.» Then when I received my veggie Susie rolls(after I commented on the order that i had an allergy), they plated them with my friends shellfish roles. After telling the waitress that was not okay, she questioned what she should do and said she would make new rolls and throw these away, unless we wanted to pay for them too. I go to sushi in Bend on a regular basis and the wait staff and chefs are always very kind and considerate of my allergy– I have never been treated like this and will not be going back.

Decent food, but slow service. We waited close to 45 mins for our Bento orders. When I asked about it the waitress looked annoyed and said it was done but she had been doing something on the computer and would get it right away. We waited another 5 – 10 minutes after that.

Only the best sushi I have ever had. And so reasonable in price. I recommend the Coco!

Terrible service!!! You will be ignored for hours on end. The food is not that wonderful, so it’s not even worth the wait. I try to avoid this place at all costs. There are much better sushi places in Bend. Trust me.

We are from out of town and went shopping at the Red Mill shops. We assumed because of all the nice shops and restaurants that sushi would be great here. Big mistake. Should have been a clue when the booth we were sitting in was patched with duct tape. Sushi did not taste fresh and we got back to the hotel and my two kids have been sick. I have no doubt it was from here. I don’t like writing negative reviews but Horrible experience.

Don’t walk away… RUN! There’s a reason why the prices are so reasonable and the prices so reasonable. Why oh why did I forget to check the Unilocal reviews first! One bite and my taste buds screamed FISHYFISHYFISHY and we asked for the check! This is one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. We ordered 4 rolls and the very first bite of one was completely vile. Grocery store sushi would be considered 5 star in comparison to what they serve here. We didn’t feel like getting Montezuma’s revenge so we decided to cut our losses and go somewhere else. The owner was so pissed off when we asked for the check she literally started yelling at us! She said«fish fresh… you no have to pay but don’t say it not fresh… fish is fresh»!!! Over and over again she professed the fish was fresh and kept pointing to the yellow tail roll. Then she yelled«which one not fresh?». When I said«the spider roll» she no longer defended the product. Apparently SOME of the fish was fresh haha! She then STORMED off with the platter in hand over to the kitchen. To our surprise, and half the restaurants, you could hear her cursing under her breath in another language and then we heard her literally chuck the platter into something(hopefully the trash) with such power it sounded like an explosion! Everyone was looking around and our eyes bulged and mouths dropped in aw! I’m glad she didn’t try to pass the uneaten rolls unto some other unsuspecting customer! She then walked back to our table and threw the receipt down with such bitterness and rage in her eyes it was scary, she then stormed off. So sad to see an owner of a restaurant act this way. No apology, no «can I get you something else»! Wow, what ever happened to good ol’ customer service? Maybe that’s the way Japaneses business owners treat their customers. Not sure but thought she was going to pull out a Japanese samurai sword and hack us down before we got out of there. If your food sucks, it sucks! It shouldn’t be a surprise and defending crappy food is a joke. Have some humility and know when your product isn’t even dog worthy and just pray for patrons without tastebuds. Upon further review, I found out that this company buys large quantities of fish when the prices dip and then they freeze it prior to sending it out to all their restaurants making a higher profit. The reason the prices dip people is because the fish is getting OLD!!! YOUAREEATINGFROZENSECONDORTHIRDQUALITYFISHMYFRIENDS! My friend also told me she knows someone who works there and how miserable the staff is. She said they get yelled at all the time. Dear Unilocalers, we are eating raw food that needs to be fresh(without worms) so we don’t get sick! I can only hope this place goes under sooner than later so another establishment can take over. How in heck has this place lasted??? Anyone that might think this is good sushi is what I would consider a crime. Amen!

This is the most ghetto Japanese restaurant in Bend. I guess it’s fitting that it’s in the mall, but the old mill district is pretty classy. You can seriously get better food in an airport. Miso soup is hard to mess up but it is possibly the worst I’ve ever had, bland, clear-ish, with a few strands of seaweed and 2 tiny bits of tofu. The avocado in my roll was black and slimy. The one star was for our super sweet server who agreed about the avocado and swiftly replaced it.

This place is just so-so. Reasonably priced, located in the Old Mill Shopping Center. We went their during our holiday shopping. Clean, no wait, quick service. We tried three different rolls and the calamari. The sushi was just ok. The consistency of the rice wasn’t what I was used too. Really starchy, dense. Not sure how else to describe it, the texture overpowered the fish. The Old Mill offers some options that we can’t find with the local shops, so we are there fairly frequently. Lots of choices of places to eat and I will try Mio again. We like sushi, so I’m not giving up.
