One of the worst sushi experiences I’ve ever had. The miso tastes like chicken soup. The rolls were all terrible — the spices were disgusting. Worst of all, the fish was old, dry and so thinly sliced that 95% of the Nigiri was rice. The service was good, although our soy sauce container was empty. The atmosphere is wonderful but, unfortunately it could mask the terrible food. It’s perplexing why this restaurant gets such consistently excellent reviews. Maybe people in land-locked Bend simply don’t know the difference. Everything looks wonderful but my taste buds, and the taste buds of everyone with me do not lie. My guess as to why this place is so awful is thus: you just can’t get fresh fish in Bend, OR. So the chefs have been able to cleverly deceive these poor locals by wonderfully decorating dog crap.

Excellent sushi! We had a rainbow roll and a dragon roll. They were both really good! We also ordered a couple of unagi nigiri and it was melting in your mouth good. As a starter we had the stuffed avocado. I’ve never had a deep fried avocado before and it was heavenly! The Valentine special dessert was their version of strawberry short cake which was a little different than expected but again it was amazing! The service was good as well. Over all great experience!

What a great place to enjoy some fresh sushi. Very nice atmosphere, very friendly hostess and wait staff. Wish they had a bigger selection of rolls and nigiri, but with that said I would go back and enjoy some more.

Very good sushi. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. The rolls were very large and they really came up with some nice flavor profiles and pairing that I have never had before. My server was a bit aggressive when trying to up-sale food though. I understand that’s his job, but he didn’t take into consideration what the customer wanted. I said I liked hot sake and then he recommended one. I said okay I’ll take that. Then he brought it to me and it was cold. Then we wanted to know about some of the sushi menu and he said let’s start you off with some edamame and we never agreed to that but then they brought out edamame to our table. We ended up getting it for free though so that was cool. I would eat here again if I was in bend and so should you.

…I did come back a couple times. To be honest, pretty disappointing but the Steve McQueen roll is pretty freaking good. It is $ 17.

Highly recomend the RPM(Boneyard!) Smoked salmon Roll! One of our favorite beers with some of our favorite food! The owner even came over to the table to chat. Loved this sushi, coming back soon!

Best Restaurant in Bend! Servers are very knowledgeable with every item on the menu. Keith was able to explain every ingredient on the menu and how it was prepared. To finish off the evening one of the owners Greeted us. Well organized establishment, great food with creative originality. Old school service with new school approach. Will be back again and again!

Great atmosphere, great food. I’d give it a 4.5 if I could. The sushi was delicious and you could tell the fish was super fresh. My personal 2 favorites were the Geisha roll and the Shogun roll and would highly recommend them to anyone. As a sushi lover it was a great find.

I live in San Francisco and my parents live in Bend part time. Every time I come to visit they make sure to book dinner at least one night at this amazing sushi restaurant. My folks eat there quite a bit and I am always envious. I am confident in saying that It is my favorite sushi restaurant not only in Bend but anywhere that I’ve ever been. San Francisco needs to step up its game because a small town like Bend having better sushi is pretty sad. Then again great things come in small packages.

Really good sushi. I popped into 5 fusion to see what interesting sushi creations the can conjure up. I asked for something I have not had before. And they did very well. I was hungry so I gobbled up a lot of sushi but I’ll just talk about a few. A flowering hamachi sashimi in a light flavorful oil was a first one I had not seen nor tasted before. Next, a special tuna in a sardine can. Very tasty with small slices of avocado. Then some carbonated oysters and salmon bacon and eggs. That was a treat. Dessert was nice too as I was able to share it with a beautiful woman I just may at the sushi bar. She sat down beside me and we started chatting right away. Lucky she couldn’t say no to sweets.

Wow! Delicious meal, fast service, and a cool atmosphere. My mom and I tried the geisha roll, the tempura, the Peking duck buns, and the pork tenderloin and left stuffed and happy. The roll was delicious and a decent size. The tempura was standard, no complaints. The duck buns were so-so, a little skimpy on the meat. But the showstopper was by far the pork tenderloin: thinly sliced, so tender, with a delicious creamy risotto. Definitely one of the best things I’ve ever eaten! Overall a great meal!

MEH… it’s mostly hype. I’ve been eating sushi for 35 years and it’s nothing special. Good but not 5 stars or with the high price

4 Plus! What a great surprise! I am used to the best sashimi you can get. I have had all the greats, local and well known and have a very high expectation for sushi restaurants in general. Imagine the surprise of finding a super high quality sushi place in the high desert… no fish industry in sight! 5 fusion is a well designed and thought out space. Vibrant mostly younger crowd. I am not sure they were as welcoming as I would have liked, we were on our motorcycles and were not dressed up at all, but for the most part I don’t take Bend as a town that worries so much about dress codes. By the way, this is that classic reminder, don’t judge a book by it’s cover. We may not have been dressed up, but our tipping policies are quite a bit more generous than 99 percent of the people that will come in there if we are getting even average service. That aside, there is some really great fish work here. The fish is fresh and firm and some real creativity was applied. I particularly loved the«Five Nigiri», Maguro with Shiso and Strawberry, Hamachi with Asian Pear and Wasabi, Shiro with Ponzu, Escolar with Serrano lime, and Unagi with Oatmeal. Certainly both unique and amazing to taste! Any Sashimi lover will be very happy here. Also some really great non fish options for your friends!

Amazing specialty rolls, try the Steve McQueen… fantastic Sashimi try the tuna & salmon flights as sashimi Banofee dessert was to die for and the coconut nigori sake was perfection Don’t pay attention to the negative reviews, I’ve had fantastic sushi in Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego and Lake Tahoe and this place can compete with all of them!

«Bakauma!(Foolishly Delicious!)» I have seen and heard of 5 Fusion for several years now and for some silly reason have never tried it. Perhaps its because we live in Seattle and have access to some of the best sushi east of Japan. What a mistake I have been making! First off Joe Kim, Executive Chef is a James Beard Foundation nominee for Best Chef in the Northwest — the first Central Oregon chef to receive this honor I am told. Quite a statement for a Central Oregon Chef and even more so for a Sushi chef in a cowboy town! My wife, daughter and her boyfriend entered the Wall street entrance to the restaurant to find a modern and tastefully decorated space with an overhead glass trellis filled with water gently being sprayed from jets creating a clever feeling of being in an aquarium. We had reserved seats at the sushi bar(the only way to experience Sushi by my standards). My wife ordered the«Lavender Lemondrop» which was comprised of house infused vanilla vodka, limoncello, lavender infused syrup, lemon juice. Being an aficionado of Lemondrops… she declared it one of the best she ever had! We started with Spicy Edamame… very good and BBQ pork loin lollypops which melted in the mouth. The Peking Duck in mantou(steamed bun) was wonderful, but could have been served with a more generous portion of hoisin sauce Starting with Nigri sushi I had King Salmon, Hamachi and Yellowfin Tuna all were of incredible quality and ranked in the best I have ever experienced. My wife had the«FIVE Nigiri» flight. Maguro with Shiso & Strawberry, Hamachi with asian pear & wasabi, Kanpachi with ponzu, Escolar with serrano lime and Unagi with oatmeal. All were incredibly creative and masterful in combining flavors… obviously a James Beard nominee effort! I ordered a Specialty Roll called the«Steve McQueen» roll. I will say my 22 yo daughter asked who Steve McQueen was… maybe the name does not carry the same inspiration as intended. The roll was a serpentine presentation of a Tuna, Red Crab, Avocado, Cream Cheese, Tempura Fried, Topped with Sweet chili, Coconut Sauce, and Macadamia nuts. Just reading the ingredients, I had to order it just to put my head around what this creation would taste like! What a «bakauma» experience! So many flavors in each bite! I was feeling flashbacks to warm evenings in Maui! Overall 5 Fusion in a 5 star experience and I will happily be adding it to my rounds of favorite Central Oregon restaurants. I have seen comments about the price points. My experience is that when eating Sushi you get what you pay for. Quality in fish costs! That said, I found it very reasonable when compared to my regular haunts in Seattle and felt that for the quality, creativity, ambience and setting it was a great deal! I want to also add that Lillian the owner came up to us near the end of our meal and asked how we enjoyed it. What a delight to have an owner engaged and excited about her business. We found all the help engaged in the experience which was evident as we leaving for the evening we were asked how our dinner was and thanked by no less than 4 other servers or bus people. It is clear that 5 Fusion cares about the experience they are delivering! We look forward to our next 5 Fusion adventure and some of the other great sounding dishes.

Went to 5 Fusion last night with my husband. The food was a little on the pricier side but well worth it. The appetizers were delicious and the sushi was fresh. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting some sushi and something different. Happy hour is from 4 – 6 pm.
