This is a fantastic café. Amazing service. Terri, the owner is a very kind and caring woman. She loves interacting with the customers and making sure that everyone has a great experience. The food, even though a little pricey, is always delicious. They buy all their ingredients locally as much as possible.

I’ve really fallen in love with this place. The staff is welcoming and I always enjoy the brief conversations I get with them when I go in. Although prices aren’t very low, I appreciate all of the local, organic, or natural ingredients.

Really cool place that we randomly walked into, while looking for breakfast in benton harbor. Friendly staff, good breakfast sandwiches, coffee, & great atmosphere. I got a smoothie that involved espresso, banana, chai, and almond milk. awesome flavor combo!

One of my absolute favorite restaurants in the area! It almost doesn’t feel like a restaurant anymore than it does like home. The owner is so nice and friendly. And their food! Is delicious and so fresh! Not to mention their coffee. I could drink their lattes everyday.

Very cute place, nice people, & good food and coffee! Free wifi-I’ll come here to work or read in the future. Or it’s a nice place to meet up with friends.

I’ve only ever been treated rudely here. For the price, I’d rather go down the street to Mason Jar & be treated with kindness.

Hadn’t been in a while and brunch a couple of Saturdays ago was spot on. The place was quiet on a rainy morning, which I like. Crowds at breakfast joints often keep me from going, as does the fact that I can cook eggs better to my liking at home. Boyfriend and I each had the huevos rancheros. Avocado slices and fresh cilantro garnished the black beans and two fried eggs. Corn tortillas on the plate seemed baked, not fried, which I appreciated. It all went down easy. Shared a cinnamon roll while we were waiting. Mmm. Coffee good. Clean, cozy atmosphere. I like the revival of the place. Will go back soon.

Nice low key place. BLT was good, though bacon could have been crisper. My wife got the Turkey, Bacon, and Avacado sandwich, which she liked. Only been the one time(lunch stop while driving to Grand Haven for vacation), but it is a nice place to grab a bite.

Best. Croissant. EVER! My husband and I stopped here while visiting family in Michigan. It was an attractive place, and the staff was very pleasant. I ordered a plain croissant with my morning coffee. Now, I’ve had handmade croissants, fresh-from-the-oven croissants, I’ve had frozen & baked croissants that tasted like the real thing. I’ve had croissants in a dozen Paris sidewalk cafes. But I’ve never had a croissant as wonderful as the one I got here. Buttery, crispy-flaky on the outside, tender and delicious on the inside, it was absolutely PERFECT, and heavenly to eat.

Great atmosphere but food is outrageously expensive. It used to include a small salad and the sandwich choices were good. No coffee refills but it has that coffee house vibe; go figure. No longer recommend

Excellent salmon on rye. Really! Great casual atmosphere and location. Not so good cappuccino. It was the type of bitter you get with a long extraction(or dirty equipment). It was not so bad that I did not finish my cup though. I’d definitely order another one next time and hope it improves.

Great spot for lunch! Really good sandwiches. Very, very nice people. Laid back vibe. I got the hummus sandwich with Havarti and avocado and it was excellent. Somewhat light and healthy… My husband got a turkey sandwich and said it was very good as well. I also hear the green smoothies are excellent! The manager or owner came out after our food was served and made sure everything was ok – very nice and not expected at a café.

Reliable and fast wifi. Add to that, amazing croissants and great coffee. You then have achieved a perfect mid work day stop off. Job well done Phoenix.

What a great place for a soup and sandwich! All bread is baked on site, the soups are homemade, and the menu varied with offerings definitely not found at Panera — think yellow curry chicken salad on homemade ciabatta. All ingredients are fresh. Save room for a chocolate and toffee chip cookie — out of this world good. The staff is friendly and helpful. The dining area in a restored building space makes for a great atmosphere. Definitely worth a try. I only wish I had occasion to be in Benton Harbor more often.

Amazing spot for delicious«real food». In town for the weekend and was pleasantly surprised to find this authentic local food choice. Had a black bean, egg, white cheddar, and cilantro wrap with iced coffee and a homemade raspberry and blueberry muffin. It was delicious! There was quite a line during brunch, which enticed me to go inside to check it out. There is free WIFI. The atmosphere has an urban/loft feel in an old building that has been restored. Definitely a must try!

This is a big-city-type café that would normally attract hipsters galore. While you do have that clientele, there are also business people, locals, and general randos who frequent the place as well. Admittedly, if it’s a busy morning it can be a bit too loud for my tastes. However. Four Words. Ham And Gruyère Croissant. This pastry can reduce me to a drooling, vacant-eyed zombie, it is so delicious. Crispy, salty, fatty, slightly sweet. It is perfect. The chocolate croissants are only lesser because, COMEON, Gruyère cheese. Some of the specials can be a bit pretentious, but it’s worth it. A hidden jewel in the«Arts District»(Cough Cough) of Benton Harbor.

I came here with a local on a Saturday and sampled their breakfast offerings, all which were posted on a large chalkboard at the counter. There were perhaps seven or egg choices of egg sandwiches, quiche, a lox ‘n bagel schmear, and omelets. Nice limited choices at prices you would expect. I understand that The Phoenix boasts a local/sustainable aesthetic. It’s location in a new Arts District of Benton Harbor’s somewhat lonely and forlorn downtown is a nice draw. Their are other shops like a funky gelato parlor and a bonafide glass-blowing factory, and other art galleries nearby. Easy and free parking, too. The space itself is very bright, modern and open with lots of tables and a tall ceiling. The staff is friendly. Service is that hybrid you order the counter and they deliver type. Our orders arrived rather quickly. We both had the egg sanwiches, with different toppings. The bread and ingredients were fresh and cooked just right. Not too dry like those breakfast sandwiches can be. On this Saturday, we were thinking of lunch, arriving around 12:30 P.M., but only breakfast was available unitl 2PM. So you may want to call ahead if you’re looking for lunch. Intelligentsia coffee makes it worth my while to travel a bit, at least from Harbor Country. But definiteley come sample the great java, the fresh grub, and check out the galleries here, too.
