Meh. Interesting, but SUPER expensive and a short window in which to pick up items, better off just going to one of the many nearby Farmer’s markets or even Whole Paycheck! Example: a small 2# bag of organic Fuji apples and 3oz of sprouts costs $ 12.50. AND you gotta pick it up yourself at some guy’s house within a 2 – 3 hour window on only a single day a week. Getting the website to function, setting up an account, and making sure that nothing will come up the evening you gotta get your food can be extremely tricky. Oh, and you have to get your order in several days ahead of time… What a hassle! I was intrigued when I saw their ad and was wondering what the hullabaloo was about, but although the food seems of decent quality I really don’t get the advantage of this over the many easier and cheaper options options nearby. It seems to be yet another symptom of late stage dot-comdom– a disease that takes normal local commerce or services, throws a specific portion of it up on the Internet, calls it a «convenience» and overcharges, hopes overpaid yuppies have no sense of what things cost in the real world, PROFIT!!!(Then sell out to Amazon or Google or Facecrook). Ok, I concede this might have some value if you’re in war torn Flint, Michigan or somewhere else that might be ignored for miles by stores carrying fresh quality produce. But chances are the people couldn’t afford it anyway. So they’re stuck targeting economic bubbles like the Bay Area and hoping overpaid people are nearby the drop sites and always available to pick it up. I wish them luck, the pickup guy was friendly enough and his dogs didn’t bite, but the whole process was tedious and expensive for us and I just don’t understand the business plan here.

I LOVEFARMIGO! I’ve been ordering through Farmigo for the past 2 years — first picking up at UC Berkeley and now picking up at the Farmigo warehouse off of Gilman. The food is amazing, it’s way easier than navigating Berkeley Bowl, and I feel good about the fact that more of my dollar is going to small farmers. s

Trying this online service out. Pop online and have 2 more days to order whatever FM comestibles I fancy. Pick up nearby within a 2 hour window. Easy as pie. For the $$, let’s see on Wed if the produce is as fresh as it ought to be!
