Excellent donuts, fair prices. The extra holes in the bag are a nice touch. They had plenty to order by way of donut selection, cereal, fruit, and drinks. Minus one star for barky-service, I have a sensitivity to rudeness.

Our favorite donuts place in the area. The interior is modest(e.g. comparing with another Happy Donuts place down San Pablo av.), but the donuts are so fluffy and prices are great! The owner often adds one or two extra donuts for us free of charge.

Nothing particularly special about this joint, but the dude here is super nice. I went in for the first time last month, and ordered a single donut and a croissant(their croissants are massive btw). When I got home to try them out, I realized he had added random donut holes(like 5 or 6 of them lol) as extras. The pastries themselves taste pretty good, ill def swing by again

A donut is usually a donut as long as its not an «artisan» donut like Donut Savant or Dynamo etc. A common donut shop’s donut is a good donut if it is not stale by the end of the day or doesn’t taste too much like lard or chemicals. I truly believe Happy Donuts is the king of the common donuts in the east bay. They always seem to be open, their selection is hardly thinned out or empty looking like Golden Gate donuts on Telegraph… ugh. But the most important part is the quality of their donut. top notch common donut action here. Their crullers are my favorite and are usually the only ones picked out by midday. Let us not forget to mention the free donut holes if you buy enough donuts. Bring cash to make a happy donut more happy ;)

Man, I love donuts. I was driving down Gilman one day and I was drawn to this place. How could I not with a name like that? I went in to see a ton of donuts. They not only had donuts but they had bagels, chips, soda, etc. The gentleman who helped me was kind and proficient. I ordered the donut holes. Pretty darn good! And cheap as well. I couldn’t use my card though because it was under two dollars. But that’s alright. Why complain about whether I can use a card or not when the delicious donuts are so cheap?

I’m weak. If a food has a high fat and sugar content you can bet it’s on my «favorites» list. So, it’s not surprising that donuts are probably on the top of that personal deliciousness list of mine. Eat one? Are you kidding me? Like a little kid, I need at least one for each hand. So, if you like donuts you’re gonna love this place! Happy donuts will bring a smile to your face as you sink your teeth into theses sugary doughy deep-fried delights! On this visit I enjoyed both a buttermilk bar and a glazed jelly-filled donut. Two of my personal favorites. The dense buttermilk bar was the perfect flavor combination of creamy and sweetness and the jelly-glazed didn’t disappoint with the balanced donut to filing ratio. You’ll definitely have better success on the donut selection if you arrive early in the day, so if you are craving a specific type of donut, it’s best to come in the morning. Enjoy!

It’s been a while since I’ve been to Happy Donuts and things haven’t changed much. Excellent fresh donuts and friendly owners. Was heading out of town and had a craving for donuts. The donut holes and maple bar are my favorites. The lady even threw in a free donut and some donut holes for me.

the last few times we went there the donuts haven’t been as fresh. in fact my husband said the glaze twist was over cooked and didn’t seem fresh. I did notice the French donut was not as fresh. you can tell when it is fresh.

I like the donuts here, good prices, small clean donut shop. I have been coming here a while, liquor store next door to location, I hit the liquor store then this donut shop. If you find yourself on gilman ave, check this place out.

Called Wednesday to order 12 dozen doughnuts for Friday morning. Was told to come in Thursday to order. Went in Thursday morning and was told they couldn’t have that quantity ready by my desired time, 7:00. They bumped it to 8:00. Arrived at 8:00, they handed me 12 dozen doughnut holes. Big Fail. In hindsight, I suspect that they didn’t have my order because they’re giving doughnuts away for free with you order of doughnut holes! Not-So-Happy Donuts!!!

I’ve been going here for years, my favorite little family owned donut shop. Huge donuts and the owner always gives me a little extra. Can’t go wrong.

Best donut shop ever. I randomly discovered this place while my wife was shopping at the Tokyo Fish Market on the same block. The old-fashioned donuts are fried and crispy the way they should be. These days a lot of donuts are not so much donuts but rather whole wheat bread in the shape of a donut with frosting on top. These are delicious old school donuts. They are not healthy for you, but they taste great. Especially if you go in the afternoon, they always give you some extra stuff for free, I guess because they know they are just going to throw it away anyways. They never give you an extra donut of the type that you order, though. The free donut is always something different. I guess they figured that you have already signaled to them that for the donut types which you ordered you are willing to pay so they figure it would not make any sense to give you one of those donut types for free. The location isn’t great. From San Pablo you have to turn down Gilman and walk for about half a block and then cross a dirty grimy parking lot but trust me, it is worth it. So glad I found out about this place!!!

Yummmmm. The chocolate old fashion are the best! Followed closely by maple old fashion. And they throw in a couple of Donut holes which I appreciate. And the are open pretty late(6pm on a Sunday!) just solid donuts.

So good! Our family went here and made a «donut cake» for our sons birthday. They were super accommodating.

I’ve never been a huge donut fan. Krispy Kreme, eh, Dunkin, eh. I’m more of a cupcake person. BUT. I could WAXPOETIC about how amazing these bad boys are. This was my first time checking this place out and I have NOIDEA why I waited so long. I got a ½ dozen, for about $ 5, which is reasonably priced. It was late in the afternoon, but the donuts literally tasted like they had just come out of the oven. They were fresh and soft and kinda orgasmic. I fear I will be going here a lot and gaining about 20 lbs, but it’s so worth it!

These donuts are huge. I felt sick after(not because of them) but because my body could not take that much donut. Donuts are my weakness so when I usually go after a long period of not eating them, I binge. One donut is enough here, but I ordered two. I couldn’t even finish the 2nd anymore because it was so damn big. It doesn’t mean it wasn’t good, because it was delicious. I just could not physically do it. That being said, I will come back — many times for sure.

This is my favorite little hole-in-the-wall donut shop. PROS: –Above average donuts(not THEBEST ever, but the best I know of in Berkeley/Albany) –Decent prices –THEYHAVE A PARKINGLOT. What… no street parking? YAY! –They give you a few complimentary donut holes in your bag with each purchase. Once they even gave us extra full size donuts — score! –Fast service and never crowded –which is great for bringing my kids here! CONS: –Can’t think of anything except for the fact that donuts are not healthy, so I don’t come here as often as I would like to :)

Happy Donuts locations are everywhere. checked this one out. small place, about 10 tables. asian operated, limited menu of dogs(2.25), donuts)(.95), fritters(1.95), coffee, ham/cheese croissant(3.5), etc. everyday fare. asked what kind of coffee they used. was shown bag with«supreme café» on it. pour:(m)1.75 french roast –coffee harsh, no doubt arabica beans. 2 stars coffee drips: –attendant wanted to serve patrons quickly so i just ordered something -(quick, almost rushed service) –endless stream of patrons here, i guess. –plenty of parking.
