I always walk by this café and go straight to Moccacino, two days ago, i decided to try their Woofles. Woofles are basically healthy, made from scratch, pretty waffles. I ordered a Deluxe Woofle, and it was kind of blend, and she didn’t give me enough whip cream, and i could barely taste the chocolate flavor. But definately better than your everyday waffles. The layout of the place can be 4 star though, because it has an upstairs and downstairs is just a quiet café setting, but the food are not as satisfying.

I like hot dogs wrapped in anything, pretzel dogs, bagel dogs, corn dogs, and NOW waffle dogs! I tried their Corn Pup and was a fan although I felt like I could have just made it with a wafflemaker in Café 3 and stuffed a hot dog inside. Chocolate Chimp Holy Woofle — wanted to try the chocolate waffle. The waffle mix was blended with bananas and topped with bananas, walnuts, and coconut cream. This sounds good in theory but the chocolate flavor was very light, which made it quite nasty. It also took a really long time to make even though I was the only customer. The lady there is pleasant, and it def has a mom and pop vibe, which may be a negative point because it tastes too DIY and homemade rather than piping hot fast food.

I had the summer special here. The presentation wasn’t that nice and was kind of disappointed with the waffle a la mode. The waffle was good, but it’s the same quality I can get at Café 3. There was something wrong with the ice cream as it was chewy. There wasn’t enough fruit(which was only bananas) and the whole plate was drenched in chocolate syrup. The lady there was very nice though.

The owner is such a sweet lady, but shame that the food there are really just OK. It took her 15 minutes at least to actually bring the panini and the cheese waffle stick to us. They don’t taste anything special. :( I quite enjoy the Turkish desserts in the café though. :)

As much as I want to, I can’t in good conscience give this place more than two stars, sadly. The mom and pop vibe to this place makes me sympathetic but it wouldn’t be right to deceive you into thinking it’s mom and pop quality. The novelty draws you in but wears off pretty quickly when you realized you just payed $ 6+ for a waffle. I got the Mediterranean woofle. Basically, it was a semi-sweet waffle with a bit of pesto in the batter and a stingy smattering of hummus. It was interesting the first few bites but got old pretty soon after. It’s also pretty small considering what you’re paying and I was still hungry afterwards. It takes a while to get your food too, even if there’s hardly anyone there.

I understand the bad reviews because, yes, it take FOREVER here. That is only because its more of a mom and pop shop with the owner doing most of the work herself. However, if you are gluten free going to this place is a MUST. it is the only place i have been in all of California that serves a LARGE variety of sandwiches. Waffles are also available!!!

I tried this place because I bought a $ 10 coupon for this place for $ 5. However, one time is enough for me to know not to come back. I went with a friend to this place, and our order of two waffles came out to $ 11. I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty expensive for a single waffle… The old lady behind the counter was the only person working there, and while she was nice, she wasn’t able to serve us quickly. We waited 30 minutes for two waffles to be made. Waffles aren’t exactly gourmet so they should’ve been done much, much quicker. I ordered some sort of chocolate waffle with berry syrup and some whip cream and it was just meh. I ate it in four bites, and can’t really remember what it taste like since flavors were weak, portion was small, and generally, my hunger had long past from waiting so long. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone sadly. I like the place, especially the art-sy walls, but other than that, service is sub-par, food is sub-par, and that makes for a sub-par experience. «I’ve experienced better»

Used my campuscred, not groupon this time. lol This its a definite ‘try at least once in during your 4 year in college’ kinda deal. The prices are good for made from scratch ‘woofles.’ But the one thing I hear from everybody I take here is that it just doesnt fill you up. A woofle plus a mediteranian drink will run you: $ 5.75 + $ 2.50: $ 8.25 + tax. That would be fine, if you were satisfied, but I wasnt. Good place for a date. Tell me how it goes if you ever have one there.

Just went here today and had to write a review. I’ve been itching to go, especially since I got a Groupon-like coupon for Sfoof’s. FOOD: 4⁄5 After a long debate between panini or holy woofle, I chose the panini combo(the Holy Woofle picture looked so sparse compared to a whole panini). It comes with a panini, chips, and beverage. They were out of chips today and offered me the side salad instead, which I was more than happy to accept. The beverage is not just limited to fountain drinks like most joints. You can choose from anything on their beverage menu: Turkish coffee(me!), hot cocoa, soda, mocha, etc. With $ 10 to spend with my Groupon and an extra 20% coupon, I added on a pineapple ginger lassi and a date mamoul. I got the IRS panini — turkey, pesto, cheese, and avocado. Ohhh man was this GOOD!!! Creamy creamy avocado(just the right amount, not too much that it overflows), delicious pesto, lots of cheese, and BESTOFALL thick slice of turkey. Now, this was not measly deli slices like many many many other sandwich joints. This was a ¼″ slice off of a succulent roast turkey. I was pleasantly surprised — heck, I was overjoyed! Good stuff. And the lady, Rima, who made my sandwich even put in tomatoes and lettuce for me free of charge. :-) I only ate half of the panini, and the other half I regrilled at 11pm tonight. Still amazing. The side salad was simple lettuce, cucumbers, red onion, and tomatoes, but they were very fresh and crisp and had just the right amount of balsamic vinegarette. It was nice. The Turkish coffee was very very strong and came in the equivalent of an espresso shot, which surprised me. After mixing it with equal parts milk and hot water, it was still pretty strong but very very good. Turkish coffee is kinda nice, and this comes from someone who doesn’t drink coffee on a regular basis. Normal coffee lacks the extra strong yet subtle pizzaz of Turkish coffee. Try it. It’s only $ 1.75 or something. Date Mamoul: yummy! Not too sweet! And it comes in this cute square that is semi-partitioned into 9 squares for easy breakage. Tasty. I like :-) Pineapple Ginger Lassi: unfortunately they were out of pineapple, so they said I can get an IOU on another day. So, I’ll come back with another review for that. SERVICE: 3.5 Sweet sweet ladies who work here. Let me try the Turkish coffee before I decided on it. Rima made my sandwich slowly(they do like to take their time), but very well. It’s a slowness that I appreciate and respect, because everything was spread evenly in my sandwich and the bread was grilled to the perfect texture, not burnt or dry. And the lady was nice enough to deal with my repetitive requests(some milk, some hot water, long decision time…) DECOR: 3.5 Really cute inside! At first, you think it’s small(which it is downstairs), but there is this nice and cozy loft upstairs. The tables are adorned with cutesy country-style tablecloths, there’s this cute bookshelf at back, and the bathroom is painted with stickers(Eeyore!) on them. Clean and well-kept. PRICE: 3.5−4 With the coupons, amazing deal. Without the coupons, still pretty cheap for what you get(at least for the panini). Panini with drinks and chips or salad running shy of $ 7 is well-priced I’d say. Definitely going to come back and try a Woofle some day. Any other day I’ll come back and get more IRS. This is one IRS I am running toward instead of from!

Hidden Gem! This is an adorable little hole in the wall with GLUTENFREE waffles and cookies and sandwiches. They have wheat too, for you gluten-free haters, but they are very sensitive to celiac needs. They’ve got all kinds of flavors– pick from one of their popular combinations, or make your own! I had a gluten free chocolate chimp woofle(chocolate, banana, walnut, coconut cream) and I was blown away… So many good things happening inside my mouth at once. The lady who runs the place is super sweet, and the décor is nice too. My only complaint is that their hours are very limited. I have driven by several times with hopes of getting a woofle only to find it closed. If this place were open late nights, I’m sure it would become a magnet for college students with munchies.

Like many others, my fiancé and I came here anticipating something amazing after reading a very positive East Bay Express review.(Since then, I’ve learned to take ‘food & drink’ sections with a grain of salt and a more annotative eye.) Since we weren’t hungry enough to order a ‘woofle’, we ordered a chicory coffee & maamoul to snack on. The chicory coffee had a sharp, unbearably astringent taste that refused to be rendered drinkable, even with liberal drownings of heavy cream and sugar. The maamoul was… to euphemize, interesting. Some pretty pastry to be eschewed rather than chewed. I’ve transcribed our conversation to better explain the aggravation: B: Good lord, *spits out maamoul crumb* what is that taste? E: Could it be??? Yes, I think it is… it’s soap! B: …By god, you’re right! It is soap! Ivory soap. Well, different strokes I guess.

What revolution? This place took forever to give us our order. We ordered two waffles and woofle pop which we needed to remind them to give us. If I knew better, I would have went home and whipped out my own waffle maker. It tasted like bisquick with a measly tablespoon of nutella and three cut up strawberries and a tablespoon of whipped cream. I paid nearly 6 bucks for oneof these things AND another lunch at a different place afterwards cuz we were still hungry. The chili waffle was a good idea but did not execute. It tasted like they opened a can of Stagg chili heated up a ¼ cup of it to luke warm in a microwave and plopped it on a waffle. MEH! I have had better waffles at cheap motels and buffets. The woofle pop was a chocolate waffle coated in frosting. We didn’t like it but at least our dog did. The idea is nice and organic is great, but the food is a bit weak. It needs faster service and heartier portions if any sort of revolution is suppose to take place. All hat and no cowboy.

This review is long overdue. I came here with a friend when it first opened, way before they added sandwiches, soups, and salads to their menu. We had the Corn Pup(a hot dog wrapped inside a waffle) and a chocolate waffle with raspberry and chocolate espresso beans(it was raspberry sauce instead of real raspberries which disappointed me, and there was probably 2 crushed espresso beans in it). There was nothing special about either of the 2 things I ordered, so I thought it was overpriced for a regular waffle. Now that they added paninis to their menu, I might consider going back to try again. I was actually shocked that this place has 3.5 stars overall because no one is ever inside when I walk by on my way to and from class.

Woofle café, I love that you have gluten-free offerings. Your waffles and sandwiches were tasty, and I will be back to try your pastries and such. Your counter person was quite friendly. But please … next time, how about NOT making me wait almost an hour to get my food? I had a clear view of the person making my food and I’m puzzled by the disorganized method she used. I’m not sure why you’d work on a sandwich for a minute, run off to do something else, come back 10 minutes later to do something else to the sandwich for a minute, do something else, and then finally give me my sandwich 50 minutes later after I’d finished my drink. No apology was given for the long wait, either, and I devoured my sandwich in 5 minutes because I was so hungry. The food was good enough that I’ll give it another shot, but if the long wait happens again, I can’t justify spending my time or money here.

I want to like this place because I like what they’re doing. They’re doing something bold and serving something unconventional. I like their focus on fresh and local foods(see: fruit pops in freezer), but I’m not seeing anything that freshly made(see: frosty drinks in display case). I’m seeing woofle pups and tabouli salad premade and sitting in the display case. Aren’t waffles something you would want made hot and fresh? The sandwooches and and custom woofles are made to order though. The service is good. They are courteous, but it’s too slow. I would consider study here, especially in that nice little loft area, but damn, turn down the music! It’s just blaring at you the moment you walk in. Seriously, this place tries too hard. They’re putting on this image of being fun and fresh and all, but it could be a bit classier. Right now, all I see is tackiness. It could look funky and different without looking like a ten year old’s art project.

This place is basically right across from my workplace, but I hadn’t noticed it because there are several restaurants across from my workplace. But recently, while I was passing by, I noticed a large grand opening sign. Since I was actually walking to another restaurant to pick up a quick bite before heading to class, I decided to try out this joint. The first thing you notice is the blaring music, which frankly feel is too loud. The ambiance seemed to artificially cookie cutter, but I decided to try it out anyway, since I was in a rush, and didn’t have time to debate eating options. The service was sincere and courteous. I ordered sandwich combo, which includes a drink and chips. The selection of drinks was relatively diverse. Many restaurants have an exclusive contract with coke or pepsi, and only serve drinks from the company they have the contract with. Sfoof’s had a variety, including but not limited to: Hansen’s, Dad’s Root Beer, and Mexican Coca-cola. The food I ordered was okay, nothing special, but while I was waiting, one of the workers offered me a chocolate dipped oreo while I waited. It tasted divine, and was excellent. That chocolate dipped oreo and its offer are the only reasons I’m writing this review. It tasted that good to me.

I had high hopes for this place but they were somewhat dashed. The«bouli» salad was small and the rice was undercooked, or had sat too long(this is known as retrodegration, I think?). Anyway, this resulted in hard chewy rice. A sad dish. The Arabian nights waffle was good and we got a custom waffle too. The waffles are very light, just as advertised, but I’m not sure if they are actually worth it. Also everything takes a while, which could indicate TLC but will lead to problems if this place ever gets busy, because there’s no way they can scale things when it takes that long. And I’m not sure the idea of «mixing» into the waffle is any better than just putting it on top. Maybe they should just put things on top. Perhaps things will improve after a while.

I like this place! The IRS pannini was really good. It has turkey pesto and avocado on it. The avocado is my favorite part because they put a lot in there! Also came with a bag of chips. Also had the chocolate dipped waffle on a stick. It was OK… probably wouldnt get that again. Friendly people, will revisit!

First of all, I feel that if you are going to be serving waffles then you should open up a little earlier than 10:30am. I came for the corn pup, a hot dog dipped in waffle batter and fried but it turned out that they don’t serve that nor half their times till noon! Completely disappointed but not giving up just yet I decided to try one of their waffles(or Woofles as they put it… you know, Turkish Waffles –or so they say). Anyways I got the Durin Waffle which came out to be an over cooked waffle with cream which was supposed to be topped other delights but because the fruit was still frozen she couldn’t serve it and the berry cream was not made I had to sub it for coconut cream all for a total of 8 $. Not to mention that there are a total of 4 chairs and one child size table in this place that just makes the underwhelming experience oh so complete.

My favorite item here is the waffle dog, or «corn pup» or «woofle pup» on the Sfoofs. What it is ia hot dog on a stick wrapped in a waffle, and it is DELICIOUS. The rest of the menu is inventive and tasty. I mean, rumor has it there is a PESTO waffle dog on the menu! There are lots of toasted paninis and choose from, and dessert items as well, all very reasonably priced and high-quality. I predict this place will be the next Gregoire’s — the place where Cal students come to dip a toe in the land of inventive and inexpensive gourmet food. Michael Bauer, are you listening? Grand opening is Saturday, January 23, 2010. Check it out.
