I had the deep dish pizza and tuna panini today. If Unilocal allowed for half stars, this would be a two and a half star review. Being a native of Chicago, I’d give their deep dish three stars. The crust is very good, but the sauce was extremely salty. As for the tuna panini, the pepper was overwhelming such that I couldn’t taste anything else. I split the order with my friend, and we both threw out the majority of the sandwich. Maybe it was a bad day, but someone went overboard on the salt and pepper.

Incredible food and incredible people. The owner and team that run this place are an absolute delight to interact with, and the food they make is incredibly high quality yet totally affordable. Couldn’t recommend this place more!

Small family run café that makes customers feel welcomed the moment they enter the door. They treat you like you’re a part of their family. Amazing food keeps making me come back. Would definitely recommend this café.

Such a great place for deep dish pizza! And I am able to get vegan deep dish pizza, in which other world does that exist? Well technically, I just need dairy free — but still want plenty of meat and veggies. The owner of Tivoli Café also radiates kindness and joy. I was impressed that he introduces himself, is genuinely interested in your name, and remembers his customers. While waiting for our pizza one day, a student asked how good a particular item was. Without skipping a beat, the owner said something to one of his customers, «Let’s ask John. John, what do you think about the [aforementioned item here]?» Friendly, family-owned business with great pizza! Stop in and try them out.

I ordered a pizza at 10:20 and asked if it would be ready by 10:45 and they said no problem. I showed up a bit late at 11 hoping to just run in and grab it, but it took them an additional 15 minutes. I am not mad, but that time cut it into the scheduled meeting that I ordered the pizza for, causing me to show up late, so I probably will not go back.

Tivoli Caffe definitely deserves my 500th review! I work in LA and our company always stops by here to pick up pizza before meeting our students at UC Berkeley. This time, we took over the whole upstairs for 25 people. I reserved the spot with their email and Nancy got back to me super quick! This place is family owned and started about 4 years ago. The customer service was super amazing and the family is very friendly! The owner George practically greets everyone by name as they come in and treats them like family! We got plenty of pizza to share and I loved that everything from the crust to the sauce was made in house. I ate the combination pizzas and it had some really fresh meats and veggies piled on top. I swear my students inhaled their slice and didn’t hesitate to get a second one. I don’t usually eat much crust but I didn’t even put it down! What I really loved was their new banana pizza! Yeah, you heard me right. It was a crust, banana, and cinnamon, layered with cheese on top. It sounds crazy but you HAVE to try it! It’s pretty amazing…

Huge fan of this place. Sandwiches are made with really fresh ingredients and some bomb homemade bread. I would comment on the other menu items, but I haven’t been able to get myself to try anything other than the sandwiches, since they’re so damn good. I haven’t had a sandwich anywhere else in Berkeley in months. What really puts this restaurant over the top though, is the service. The family does a really terrific job of making everyone feel like they’re more than just customers. Keep it up guys!!!

Good oatmeal, could be a bit more hardy though. Enjoyed their omelette! Very good and the toast is nice as well.

Ordered a build your own deep dish pizza. It was AMAZING. The crust was on point, the tomatoes were super juicy, and the whole thing just tasted fresh and homely. Loved everything about it! Definitely coming back again!

The deep dish pizza here is great. It is a true Chicago style pie!!! The sandwiches looked amazing. I will try one of those next time. The place is kind of small but great for this college town. There is a lot of people coming and going. George, the owner, is very nice and seems to know everyone.

This place is chill af, if you want a taste of Berkeley, this is the place to go. Dopest family running a restaurant. The breakfast menu is out of control. Get the breakfast sandwich/burrito or a cornbeef hash. The deepdish is swag also. Yee

We stopped in Berkeley after a trip to San Fran, and relied on Unilocal to let us know what was hot in this area. Stopping here was the most convenient option and with ratings like these I understand why! This is a privately owned place who makes everything fresh themselves(even the bread!). I’m not sure how they pull it off with their cheap prices but it was delish! The tuna melt is the best I’ve had in a very long time, and the Po Boy has just the right amount of flavor/meat/and freshness. I will definitely be coming back.

I enjoy tuna sandwiches every once in a while but the tuna sandwich here really blew me away! The bread was perfectly flaky, the owner told me they make it fresh, and the flavor was so amazing! The veggies were fresh and crisp! Now I have a sandwich that is good for 4 meals!!!

Restaurant’s should always have a balance of quality food and a hospitable atmosphere. Within close proximity to Berkeley’s campus, Tivoli’s Caffe is the go-to spot for college students and beyond. I walked in to order a quick lunch and was welcomed by the owners who helped me decide on a menu item. From their deep dish pizzas, pastas, sandwiches(which are made with homemade bread), and the many variety of options they have for each, you’re bound to find something you’ll enjoy. Lucky for me I absolutely love their pesto chicken pizza and their deep dish pizzas(so far I’ve only had the northwest chicken.) If you’re a student, they also give you stamp cards for pizza/sandwiches, so by the time semester comes around and you find yourself broke and hungry you hopefully have enough punches to stay alive and well.

I normally don’t post reviews on Unilocal because most places I have eaten in Berkeley don’t really impress me but this place definitely deserves one. Tivoli’s is simply the best place to get sandwiches in Berkeley. I have ordered other items on their menu before such as breakfast burritos, chicken Alfredo pesto pasta, and pizzas, but when I tasted their chicken pesto sandwich, my mind was blown. Their portions are way bigger than most places in Berkeley, made with fresh ingredients. Their prices are also competitive. Unlike other restaurants in Berkeley, their food tastes genuine! They make their own bread and prep their ingredients every day! It’s a hidden gem in Berkeley! Can’t wait to go back tomorrow and order another sandwich of awesomeness!

I can’t tell you how great this place is. The owners are the nicest, most friendly people I’ve ever met. I’ve only been here a handful of times but they have never failed to greet me with a huge smile and a «how was your day!» It’s so hard to find good service like this nowadays. Anyway, onto the food. While I’ve only had their create-your-own-breakfast burrito, it is to die for. My boyfriend was a skeptic at first but when he first bit into the burrito, he became a believer. Idk what they do but it’s so filling and delicious and it all just melts in your mouth mmmm. Plus, it’s only ~$ 6 for a burrito the size of your face so it’s a great deal. If you’re looking for cheap, delicious, and filling food, I would highly recommend Tivoli’s.

Lets call it 3.5 stars. But because this is such a nice, family owned establishment, I’m rounding up. I’ve always had a decent experience with these people. They have good options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My favorite: the deep dish pizza. The sea of cheese is so yummy. The combo is really good too. And they will do whatever you want — half and half and such. The kid is really nice and attentive if you dine in, I usually get the pizza delivered or to-go though. They have great breakfast options too. I’ve gotten the breakfast veggie burrito with one egg and its more than enough to fill me up! Overall a great place to stop by if you’re nearby or need a study break, or even if you need somewhere to study(they have a great place up top that makes for quite the lofty study area). Definitely recommend stopping in.

I don’t know how many times I’ve walked by here, but I finally got curious and discovered a little bit of heaven on a silver platter(literally). Been here a few times since. I usually get the traditional pizza, half pepperoni with marinara sauce and half banana, which is a dessert pizza. Never would I have fathomed to combine bananas with mozzarella cheese, but that thing was full of cinnamon-y, cheesey, generous banana-sliced goodness. So tasty! The marinara sauce and crust are scrumptious, just like homemade. Also. The deep dish is pretty darn good. I actually like it better than.gasp.Zachary’s. It’s that thick and yeasty crust. And the chunks of tomato in the pizza sauce. And a generous smothering of cheese. A 10″ small is $ 13, worth it as it gets me through a few meals. The owner and his kids? who work there are super friendly, always asking how the food is and how our day went. Very conversational. Definitely digging the family-owned vibe. They get quite a few regulars and are always greeting people by name – the football team and possibly other Cal teams frequent this joint often too apparently. The pizza can take a while, so if you need something quick and know what you want, try to call ahead!

I came here for the 4.5 star average Unilocal rating, but left with Tivoli Caffe as my new go-to for a quick bite by campus south side(great location)! You can really tell that this place is family-owned, with the cozy atmosphere and the friendly staff. The guy who served us(the owner?) was amiable and enthusiastic, and thanked us profusely upon leaving the store. A+ in customer service for me! The pizza here is surprisingly soft, warm, and fresh. They serve it to you straight out of the oven, so watch out — it’s hot!(…I learned the hard way.) We ordered a small BBQ chicken pizza and the crust was puffy and delicious. I’m a big fan of thin crust, but I still enjoyed the regular crust here. There are a few tables downstairs and more space upstairs, but the café itself is pretty small. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to grab some food to go, and eat somewhere on the grassy areas of campus.
