The sign on the door says they will open in Detroit but I can’t find anything in Detroit.

I recently got turned on to this place by friend. Both the paninis and soup are always very good. Fast friendly service as well. Nice local small business.

We used The Panini Press to cater for a meeting, it was awesome. The group was raving about the flavors! They even brought plates. Can’t wait to use them again.

We tried it here for lunch today. I had The New Yorker and my husband the Philly panini — tasty. Also I had a chicken vegetable soup which I liked, although it was spicy which I wasn’t expecting, but I liked that anyhow — seemed homemade. Friendly service. I did a carryout, although they do have seating, but it’s small.

The food is pretty good but it is a price gouge. They charge like two extra dollars for a 25 cent bag of better made chips and a fountain pop.

The panini press was not horrible but it was not good. It took forever for a bowl of soup and 2 paninis. When we got our food there was barely any meat on the one panini we ordered(the Philadelphia post). Needless to say we would have had a better lunch at panera bread.

Pros: Sandwiches are less expensive than Panera. Store says all ingredients are fresh. Michigan based business as far as I can tell. Opportunities: Sandwich build can be better. Every time I take a bite something squeezes out of the other end of the sandwich. This is just annoying. I’ve had 4 of their sandwiches here, they all do this. Granted, it is a sandwich but I’ve had panini’s at panera where this is never an issue. Next, sandwich isn’t that filling. If you’re on a diet, no problem. But if your really hungry you might want to seek other options. Finally, I’ve had multiple sandwiches here, they all could use more flavor. The ingredients on the menu and the sandwich seems appetizing which I find confusing… as to where the taste goes in this process… I’m not sure. During times when the store is empty or has little clientele I find I’m waiting too long to get a sandwich. I’ve waited averaging between 7~10 minutes on days when I’m not waiting for other customers ahead of me.

Great selection of paninis, daily soups, and Better Made chips. Comfortable interior, friendly service, and good selection of current magazines if you happen to be dining alone. I had the Traverse City Times with ham & brie on ciabatta and a cup of chicken noodle soup. Both were very good! Suggestion: They offer Better Made chips, coleslaw, or mixed greens as a side item. Additional options like a fruit cup or pasta salad would be nice.

Sad trombone. I didn’t love the panini press. The price was steep — which is okay if they are incredible– but it was disappointing. My Plymouth Press(turkey) was burnt tasting and dry. All the pesto mayo seemed to conglomerate in one blob at the back. I was excited they had gluten free bread… $ 2 is a lot extra for it though. Most places charge 1 – 1.50 for gluten free… But if the food is amazeballs I usually don’t even notice price. I noticed that I basically threw away 9.72. I love supporting local, and warm sandwiches are my love language so I’m bummed this place isn’t great, I probably won’t be back. I also thought they lacked options for veggies and such to put on the sandwiches. Service was nice, establishment was clean.

I have only been here once, but I was pleasantly surprised; everything I had was great! I ordered The New York Herald(Roasted red and yellow peppers, brie cheese and red pepper mayo) and cabbage soup and my boyfriend had The San Francisco Daily(Roma tomatoes, mozzarella, fresh leaf basil and balsamic vinaigrette) and everything was really good. I would like the menu to expand or offer a ‘create your own panini’ option because with such a small menu, I don’t think I could come here that often. And I am not sure if it was an off day, but the owner seemed a little rude. I would definitely recommend this place for carryout.

Been here a handful of times and I’ve yet to be disappointed. I’ve tried a few of their sammiches but usually get the Tucson Tribune which is chicken, pepper jack, grilled onion, bell pepper and spicy mayo. I don’t think it’s very spicy, but it’s definitely got a good taste. All the ingredients are fresh and it’s big enough to fill you up for a while. Combo comes out to around 10 bucks so it is a little more expensive than the chain sandwich places, but I’d say it’s worth it. You should be supporting local joints anyway! Staffs always friendly and free wifi to boot. See y’all there soon.

Using my epic Unilocal-filter skills, I found Panini Press when looking for a lunch spot in the area. It was a slow afternoon, and our order was taken immediately at the counter. She had us sit at the table to wait for our food, and then took payment after we were done eating. All of the sandwiches are named after a fictional local newspaper. I had the Traverse City Times sandwich, which was bam, brie, and granny smith apples with a sweet mustard sauce. It was super tasty! You can made your sandwich a combo with a bag of Better Made chips and a soda, and it comes out under $ 10. I’ll definitely be back… I want to try the other sandwiches on the menu.

If you’re gluten free I know how much you miss good sandwiches. You must go here because you’ll forget you’re eating gluten free bread! They even have a dedicated panini press!!! Never found that before! Also, the coleslaw is delicious… Super zingy, probably the best I’ve had in a loooong time. Can’t wait to go back again soon.

Rating: 3.5 stars. Happy days all around whenever my former employer chose The Panini Press for catered lunches. We all salivated in anticipation of the sweetest delivery driver ever arriving at our front doors, carrying a huge platter of pressed sandwiches named for Michigan highlights. I’ve never eaten at their Berkley storefront, but compared to other options, I can attest that they present a solid catered lunch choice. Service is quick, orders are accurate, and when there was a problem, they went above and beyond to fix things up. The large catering menu can accommodate vegetarian/vegan tastes alongside the hungriest carnivore, and all sandwiches come identified by little paper flags identifying the contents. All products are named for newspapers of some kind, like the New York Herald and the Kansas City Press, inspired by their contents. Paninis are sammiches best eaten hot, and these are no exception. They don’t reheat all that well even on a panini press or the oven. Favourites: * The San Francisco Daily: Fresh mozzarella drizzled in balsamic is something very special when still steamy fresh. I could eat these for any lunch. Basil is added to the grill as Tamara Y. notes with the arugula, as it’s quite wilted. Ask for extra basil to make the sandwich good. Thinly sliced roma tomatoes rather than big beefsteak wedges has spared many a skirt and blouse for our set. They are consistently the best sandwiches I’ve had from here. * Traverse City Times: Their most interesting sandwich has granny smith apples, brie, and mustard to complement Black Forest ham. This is a filling sandwich for those days when a meeting drags on and on, but not too heavy like their salami and deli meat stuffed concoctions. Misses: — The Key West Courier: This cheddar sprinkled tuna sammich is always the last on the plate, and really needs to be eaten fresh to be appreciated. The gloppy filling came out a bit bland and very runny most times, sort of a squashy and soggy combination. I find the celery flavour doesn’t come through very well either.

I wanted to like this place more than I did. But the sandwich just wasn’t as good as it’s description. I ordered the Plymouth Page — a turkey panini with red onion, arugula, provolone, and pesto mayo. Sounds good, right? Well, kinda. The turkey is not only shaved thin, it’s served in a thin layer of teeny, tiny pieces. The biggest piece of turkey was roughly the size of a shirt button. The red onion was also chopped into fine bits. Not sure if it’s done this way because it’s a grilled panini, or I was served the bottom of the bin. Either way, it’s weird. Ya know what else is weird? Warm, semi-wilted arugula. It’s clear they grilled the sandwich with the arugula on it, rather than adding it afterward. And I could not taste the basil in the basil mayo. The mayo was extremely light green. By the looks of it, roughly a teaspoon of basil was used per cup of mayo. Hardly worth the effort, in my opinion. I did enjoy the coleslaw. It was clearly house made, with a tangy creamy dressing and a generous amount of black pepper. Not your usual coleslaw, but yummy nevertheless. I couldn’t decide between two or three stars, so I decided to round up for the time being. I will give this place another shot, just to see if ordering a different sandwich results in a better outcome. Hold the arugula, please!

Meh. I’ve experienced better. That pretty much says it all… It wasnt outstanding. Wasnt terrible of course, but I just wasnt impressed the way my stomach had envisioned. The place has potential, a nice name, some interesting menu items but execution just wasnt there. Im picky I admit. But hey its my money and for my money there are better sandwich places. One thing i was hoping to see was a panini made with fresh mild Italian sausage and peppers/onions… there was a single layer of shaved steak in my philly and for $ 7 there should be many layers in my humble opinion. Im just mentally comparing my panini with other sandwich offerings elsewhere and to tell you the truth, I was still hungry when i left. Thats not good in my book. All the women below seem to love it tho… Maybe its that kinda place? Jis sayin. ;) I think with a little bit of work it could be awesome.

With only two vegetarian sandwhich options I expected a delicious panini. I am so sad and disappointed in the San Francisco which lacked taste, character, and most of all substance! Where is the fresh mozzarella?! There isn’t even an ounce of it on my panini!(I took a picture and posted it) The daily homemade soup was ok, but nothing special to come back for. I wish I had asked for my money back because I’m still so hungry that I now have to make myself a second dinner to compensate!

I was going to give The Press 4 stars in lieu of 5 only because they charge GF patrons extra for the GF bread, but then I thought«stop the bus!» — For offering GF bread they deserve 6 stars, even if it costs more! To eat a «sandwich» that tastes good… sigh. I have never had a bad experience coming here. The food is always made with fresh ingredients and the flavors are amazing. They pay special attention to the ingredients offering not head lettuce but arugula, an assortment of cheeses, high quality lunch meats, and fresh crisp veggies among other things. The staff is always helpful, and I love that even though it is a counter order place, they still bring your food to you and bus your table. The gal who opened it has the right idea, offer fresh, fulfilling foods with an uncluttered menu. It may be a shorter list of choices, but I guarantee once you have tried a few you will not know what you want next! Plus, who could go wrong with a place that has your sandwich combination on their board as the«Panini of the Month»! Turkey, cucumbers, dill cream cheese, and balsamic … even better than it sounds! Stop in before it ends. One small negative, with the new mega restaurant next door, the parking lot seems to be more crowded. Try to get there a few mins before noon or take a late lunch!

I never considered myself a panini fan because usually the bread is hard and crunchy so after a couple bites the top of my mouth is totally scratched up and that is just totally unpleasant. Not at this place! I ordered the one the Boston with hard salami and my sister ordered the Kansas city with roast beef. We both ordered them with the ciabetta bread. That bread was amazing! The sandwich was perfectly stacked. All ingredients were in every bite which I appreciate. I still can’t decide which one I liked better. They were both good. One sandwich makes the perfect amount for dinner. The owner was manning the shop, making the sandwiches and ringing up orders while still being helpful and very pleasant and I’m a terrible sucker for good customer service. We’ll be back!

I have to admit that I never really jumped on the Panini craze, because to me they’re just sandwiches. Somehow, prior to today, I was never presented with an opportunity to have one. I had to stop by Trader Joe’s and used my new Unilocal app to help me find a quick place to eat near it. The Panini Press popped up and had a solid rating, so I was sold. I actually don’t eat a ton of sandwiches, but I was in the mood. First of all, it’s a pretty cute place. It’s one of those quick food places,(think Zoup, Panera), where you order off the giant menu, pay, and then find a seat while you wait for your food. It seems like a perfect place for a quick, inexpensive lunch. Not only that, they boast being a healthier choice, AND they use local ingredients whenever possible. I love that! Yeah, it’s the latest trend, but that doesn’t make it any less excellent. As for the food, I was so into my Boston Bulletin on Italian(Hard Salami, Mortadella, Capicola, Provolone, Lettuce, Tomato, and Italian Vinaigrette) that I totally forgot to take a picture of it! It was nearly perfect. I just didn’t like that the lettuce was warm, but I think I’d just get it without lettuce next time. I definitely want to go back and try the Traverse City Times(Black Forest, Ham, Brie Cheese, Granny Smith Apple and Sweet Mustard Sauce) and some others. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his San Francisco Daily(Roma Tomatoes, Mozzarella, Fresh Leaf Basil and Balsamic) and soup of the day, which was a roasted vegetable soup. There’s a great combo too, but the sandwiches themselves are only $ 5.99. Oh! I should also mention that the big, chewy chocolate chip cookie for dessert was yummy! Other things to note: 1) Free WiFi 2) Gluten-free options for $ 2 more 3) Delivery between 11 am and 2:30 p.m. for orders of $ 20 or more 4) A couple of tables set up outside(in other words, outdoor seating) If I worked near here, this would absolutely be on my regular lunch rotation. Sadly, I don’t, but I will definitely be stopping by here to squeeze in quick dinners before my band rehearses up the street!
