Stopped here for lunch following recommendations from several people at work. Had the grilled chicken club, wife had something similar. The chicken was done right and everything was plentiful. The bacon was the real stuff and cooked to a perfect crispiness. The fries were run of the mull crinkle cut. This place certainly has potential. The staff was friendly. The chef and his wife own the place and she was delivering food to tables and chatting with customers. Definitely a nice local, family place. Definitely will be back to sample more of the menu and hit up the ice cream counter located across the restaurant from the main counter.

I went to Billy’s last night for ice cream with three kids. The young lady serving the ice cream did not provide good service. We were next in line, just as I was stepping up to be next, two other women came in that the young lady obviously knew. She started to walk right past me, didn’t even look at me. I spoke up and all of a sudden there was confusion as to who was next. We were there for a good 5 minutes waiting for the family in front of us to finish. It was obviously clear we were next. We asked for 3 milk shakes which was obviously a chore for her. A lot of huffing and puffing and grunting. She was filthy, covered in ice cream and sweating. She told another customer that she was there since 2:30pm and lifted up her wrist to show a wrist support band which was covered in ice cream. This young lady was obviously not a good fit for the position. She was not happy, made it known to customers she was not happy. She was so distraught from the milkshakes that she didn’t even ask me if I wanted anything else, which I did and never got. She just rang me up and was done. My recommendation is that Billy’s provide aprons to their help so they don’t look so messy and up the AC. This young lady did not provide good customer service and did not project a «happy» image. I will not be returning which is a shame because I would rather give my money to small business but Carvel and Friendly’s has Billy’s beat in service.

Delicious food, bigger menu now. Used them for a catered affair, they were spot on, and generous with their trays.

Don’t let the name deceive you: this friendly little roadside spot is much more than ice cream. I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Billy’s on several occasions and have rolled out in blissful food comas every time. The menu– which changes daily to accommodate fresh ingredients– skews Italian. Billy’s pasta is superb– just as good as any you could find at legendary spots in major cities but without the astronomical price tag. On our most recent trip, we split the Cavatelli Alfredo(perfectly al dente and impeccably seasoned with fresh cracked pepper and a bright sprinkle of parsley), fried mozzarella(crispy outside, gooey inside with a zippy red sauce), and lobster roll(Connecticut-style, piled high with tender chunks of meat and warm drawn butter). While Billy’s may not serve alcohol, the policy is BYOB with no corkage fee– because what is a big Italian feast without a great bottle of red? Billy’s, thank you for your hospitality and excellent home cooking. Passersby be warned: this little gem of a restaurant won’t remain the locals’ well-kept secret for long!

What a wonderful addition to an already amazing little town. Billy’s knocks the ball out of the park with great service, selection and top notch foods. From sandwiches to salads to pastas to prepared foods to ice cream I’ve never been disappointed. Mmmmm, the rigatoni ala vodka is almost good enough to jump in the car right now from Washington, DC. I drive up through CT three to four times each year and when I do I visit Billy’s each and every day I’m in town. I’ve visited for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Last year alone, I participated in one of their catered events for Thanksgiving, several catered parties over the summer and plan on using their catering later this summer for a reunion. Pricing is great for serving size and quality of the preparation. Head chef and management worked 40+ years at the old 500 Blake Street and provide a great standard of service and exceed expectations. The quality of food has carried over! Last but not least, the interior looks fit for Martha Stewart Living — New England edition #icecreamparlor #kidscomeseethetrain. Kudos to the design team on bringing it home. Cheers to Billys and thank you!

Had dinner there on Thursday night. My wife had the lobster roll and I had the Chicken Marsala. Both items were drop dead delicious! The new owner was extremely cordial and informative. He is connected to the 500 Blake Street —– need I say more? I will definitely be back! Support this restaurant if you like to have local, convenient, great food! They had a «freebie» day today with free burgers, dogs, pony rides, ballon maker. Nice! READY, SET, GO!

Excellent food, prices are average. They don’t serve alcohol as this is more of a sandwich/lite dinner place. I have seen some people bring their own wine. The food can take a long time to be prepared but it’s ALWAYS hot and made fresh. The décor is really cool with lots of old fashioned signs and knick-knacks. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner!

I stop here quite often for coffee, muffins, breakfast and ice cream. Kind of wondering why they kept the old name since the previous owner ran the business in to the ground.(Poor service and he had a real bad attitude). The good news is the new décor, the food and the staff are very good. Entrees are excellent. Definitely a plus to have this in Bethany. In the warmer weather you can sit outdoors. Good place to bring the family.

Ice cream is great. We routinely will pick up a quart to take home. Waitstaff are very friendly. We did try the barbecue brisket once and it was decent.

Billy’s old fashioned Ice cream … The Ice cream is great !! But the dinner entrees are fantastic !!! The new owners, Grant and Kathy are the most wonderful host and hostess… Chef Eddie offers the best variety of food from specialty sandwiches to the wonderful dinners(chicken Neapolitan, zuppa di clams, Parisienne pepper steak) just to name a few … You’ve got to try this place !!!

Living right around the corner, I’ve been to the old and new Billy’s. Like everyone else says… renovations are beautiful, the owners are wonderful! The chef is from 500 Blake Street(no longer open) so you know that the food is incredible! He changes the specials frequently, so there’s always a treat to try! They also have a huge portable smoker that you can hire them to cater your party; some weekends, they will serve up some kind of smoked delicacy. The ice cream is imported from Prospect(I forgot where) which is amazing also! I could go on, but I highly recommend taking a scenic trip on Rt. 63 some day here. You’ll be happy you did!

For those of us who knew its former incarnation, the renovations are very impressive. The staff and service are also great. We’ve only visited for ice cream, but those partaking in the food seem to be really enjoying it. When it comes to ice cream, the selection is good and the portions very generous. How anyone consumes more than a small/single scoop here, I’ll never know!

I grew up in Bethany; Billy’s was a big part of my childhood but I must admit, I wish it was as delicious back then as it was today! Came home to visit my parents and check out Billy’s, since it’s all they’ve been talking about lately. The atmosphere is so much more open and welcoming. The new owner’s did a wonderful job renovating! There is indoor and outdoor seating. The food was wonderful, WONDERFUL. I had the philly cheesesteak, my dad had the pulled pork special, which I became very jealous of, and my mother had the reuben. All sandwiches were very tasty. Afterwards I had the Italian ice(they proudly serve Libby’s so it saved me a trip to Wooster Street!) Though next time I return I will be trying some ice cream since it looks delicious and there was quite a variety of flavors. Thank you Bily’s for a wonderful experience. I’m a bit sad I do not live in Bethany anymore but I will be back!

Very nice upgrade to the interior, ice cream was great, sugar free options are apprecated.

The ice cream is as good as ever and the menu options look good, but I really do not understand the point of a restaurant whose kitchen closes at 8pm on a Friday and Saturday night. Someday, maybe I will try them for a weekend lunch, but they are not a viable dinner time option.

First, the rating from 2007 and 2009 are the old owners — wont go there! NOW, THENEWOWNERSARESUPERANDTHEFOODSUPURB! On the go and need to grab and go dinner, they have EXCELLENT pre-made meals like Chicken Francaise, Chicken Marsala, Beef dishes, ribs, homemade soups, salads — all kinds. Want to sit down — inside or outside, they have that too! Now onto the ice cream — EXCELLENT! Their homemade whipped cream topping is something to look forward too. You have to come and experience the food, ambiance and great folks!

Awesome job with the renovation! I was in for lunch, started with a bacon cheese burger had a few scoops of coffee Oreo ice cream for dessert, even finished with an espresso too! Such an awesome place. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

Checked out the New Billy’s Ice Cream tonight. It is so nice inside!!! The new owners did an awesome job renovating the place and the ice cream was absolutely fabulous! I have not tried the sandwiches, or breakfast items just the ice cream. The hot fudge sundae had homemade whipped topping and it was definitely homemade ice cream. Not sure if it’s made there or not but it was the best I’ve had in a long time. If the food is as good as the ice cream I think I’ve found my new spot in town to grab some new grub
