I wish it were still open! This was one of my favorite places to watch football. They made a mean chili and some good wings, and happy hour during games was great. The only problem was the layout. Not much room for the bar.

I came to Copperfield’s today for a luncheon. It was in honor of a lady I work with that’s leaving my company after 21 years so we all wanted to send her off in a special way. Well, if I were the one planning this Bön Voyage I would not have picked Copperfield’s as the place to celebrate. To start with, only ONE waiter. The count was off, on their end, so all 32 of us had to get up because they had place settings for only 28 and had to rearrange the table. Next, please keep in mind that our Menu was set way before today’s luncheon. It stated Salad, APPETIZER, Choice of Chicken Rigatoni, Chicken Caesar Salad Wrap w/Fries or Hamburger Platter, Ice Cream, Coffee or Tea. Unlimited Soda as well. OK, here we go! Salad comes out relatively fast, can’t complain here. Really good company & a lot of laughs. After about 20 minutes the waiter comes back to clear the table and so now the wait begins. Laughs continue but then everyone slowly begins to realize there are no appetizers coming out. Slight problem here as we quickly learn that there won’t be any. The Salad apparently was the Appetizer. The Manager explained this was a Typo error — WRONG! What happened next is a review in itself. We waited another 40 minutes before lunch was served. I ordered the Chicken Rigatoni. I counted maybe 3 pieces of Chicken made in a Cream sauce with Asparagus and Sun Dried Tomatoes(the worst 2 choices for me in this dish). The other entrée’s looked a lot better. The Hamburger was enormous and made with Cheese, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomatoe and Onion. Big fries came with it too. I really think the best part of this whole meal was the Ice Cream(French Vanilla or Chocolate). Oh, I forgot to mention. The Restroom has only one stall and a sink. Try imagining that scenario with a whole bunch of Women at a luncheon having tons to drink! I give Copperfields 1 star for food, the other for the occasion. Would I go back? Possibly. They do have Pasta Paradise on Monday and Wednesday nights. Buy one, get the second one free. Chicken or Shrimp could be added for a small extra charge. I do love Pasta, so who knows, maybe if they add a little more Chicken to my dish next time I may just change my rating.

Ale House with snail like service. This used to be the location of Mary’s Backyard which was solid if nothing else. Copperfield’s is basically the same cut of cloth. After entering and sitting at the bar, I was promptly ignored for a good 10 minutes. Apparently it was new bartender training night and the guy required a level of supervision that was astounding. My advice is: if the guy needs that kind of supervision, you don’t want him behind the bar. Another 3 people came in right after me and the 4 of us sat there and waited. The main bar guy then proceeded to talk to a couple that were clearly regulars for a few minutes more and eventually the trainie came over. Since I figured I had one shot at it, I ordered everything in one move– food, drinks, quick draw and settled back. The burger I ordered was actually very good — and earned the place another star. It was so huge that I barely finished it. Fries were done perfectly. The last thing that bothers me about the place is that if you are going to call yourself an «ale house» then you should have a great selection of beers in my opinion. not the same old, same old that everyone else serves up, but really sweet microbrews or tasty mainstreams that are not so widely available. Offering Bud American Ale does not qualify you to put the ale house moniker on your shingle… I’d go back and try it again to see if the service always sucks or maybe it was just an off night? I have to say though, with the way the economy is, you should be RUNNING up to me when I walk in… Parking lot on the side.
