Glee

I notice there is a review from 2007. Since then much has changed at this little boutique. There is a new owner and this summer (2010) North Shore magazine awarded this boutique the «Best of the North Shore» in the apparel category. When I was there late this fall, the staff –two of them– were friendly, patient and courteous in every way. Definitely worth a visit to this beautiful little shop.

i so wanted to like this place. beverly is a tiny town, not much going on, and it’s nice to have such a cute boutique there with an attractive selection of clothes and jewelry, but the person running the the store that day was a pill.
my friend had an appointment to try on dresses at a bridal shop around the corner from glee on friday afternoon, we had about 10 minutes to kill, saw the bright orange and pink «glee» sign (we had just had lunch at «Bliss», so we had to keep the theme going…), and were lured in further by the outfit in the window. the woman working the store was friendly, she asked if she could help us, and we explained we were stopping in quickly before trying on wedding dresses, she cooed «aw, how wonderful». we chatted a bit, and then told her we had to go, but we’d be back for some more serious shopping later…
we went back on Monday afternoon, the same woman was working there, we were the only ones in the store, she asked if she could help us (tho it didn’t sound like she really wanted to this time) and we said no, just looking. she periodically gave us bitchy looks, proceeded to get into a fight w/​my friend about what size she was in jeans, gave us more bitchy looks, made a few more condescending comments, and evidentally didn’t remember us from a few days ago when she was stickily sweet — sybil must not have taken her medication that day…
the only reason i give it 2 stars is because i liked the clothing selection and i think it’s a great addition to this small town which has so little to chose from, so the stars are for the buyer. the sales person gets a big ZERO.
