Walked here the past two days for late breakfasts. Everything is cooked really well and is super tasty. You have to season the eggs to taste but that’s to be expected. The sausage, hashbrowns and bacon are all delicious as well. My son loved his pancakes(he’s 14) and said he hasn’t had pancakes that good in a while. Depends who is serving on how prompt and alert they are, but this is a laid back roadside café, so chill out a bit. Having my driveway snowed in, I was super happy to find this within walking distance. Also, the fresh baked goods look delicious! Not sure about the bad reviews… not deserved.

Place is just okay but we had no choice because we were trying to avoid the traffic going back into town. I think this is your last option heading back to the freeways. They said their biscuits and gravy are homemade, and while they might be, the biscuits were definitely not fresh. My fault probably for ordering on a Sunday. Gravy though was very good. His and got an omelette and O’Brien potatoes which he liked. Toast was a bit dry even with butter. Before the food came o tried one of each of their cookies. PB one was kind of stale and the other two were pretty tasteless. I wanted to give this place a better rating but I can’t. Coffee is okay, not great. Friendly waitress but owner didn’t pay us any attention, which she did to others.

From the outside and in it looks like a typical basic mom and pop style limited and cramped if you’re a party of 4 and get unlucky with the two square tables that are about the size of a TV dinner tables. Seating and food was average If you go here order something simple like pigs in a blanket or scrambled eggs with sausage, it’s how it should be but nothing amazing just basic nothing special. I love breakfast food so I ordered what I usually do, country fried steak and eggs, when I ordered it I requested the hash browns to be extra crispy, when it came out it looked the same as my cousin’s hashbrown, one of my pet peeves is soggy hashbrowns and mine where close to soggy soft, barely crispy hash browns when I specifically asked for extra crispy and the request was disregarded. The fried steak wasnt bad but it wasn’t good, it was crispy but then flavor was bland and was about the size of my palm. Mexican cookies were alright, I was excited to try the peanut butter ball, it was mediocre. Plain peanut butter with a little bit of rice crispy lightly covered in chocolate. The bill came to around 60 $ for 4 breakfast plates not including the cookies. I was expecting home style flavorful food but this is more of a Mexican influence mediocre american breakfast/brunch style, proportions were weak I was still hungry. 10⁄10 would go again just for a reminder to appreciate Denny’s, can’t go wrong with Denny’s they actually have food and business standards.

This is the best breakfast place I’ve tried in Big Bear. The food and the price was pretty good.

I have tried Blanca’s about 4 times, since they are the only restaurant in The Boulder Bay Area. For the most part the food is only OK. Friendly service.

Best food and service. We were here for thanksgiving weekend and found this place just by chance. And wow I was amazed by the food and nice service we had. I ordered a club sandwich and my wife had the Alfredo fettuccini and my kids had the kid spaghettis with tomatoes sauce. Delicious. We will be back soon. Loved the place thank you

First time in Big Bear and I got here early so I could hike and explore before my lodging was ready. I got a good hike in and searched Unilocal for a place to eat. I found this place, read the reviews, and decided to check it out. I saw some complaining about bland food, but I don’t really agree. Truth be told sometimes food is better a little bland so it doesn’t come out too salty. One man’s opinion. Anyway I ordered an omelet with veggies and pepper jack cheese and O’Brien potatoes. It was delightful. If eat here again. Kind of a small family style café. The prices were also really good. Would recommend.

Bland food. Mediocre service. Ordered eggs Benedict and biscuits and gravy. Needed to salt and pepper the crap out of it all. Meh.

Ordered waffles and the waitress served it as cold, the butter on top of the waffles are not even melt. The young waitress is not very friendly, no smiles for the entire time when we were there.

After checking out of camping for our final day, me and some friends decided to stop here to get breakfast. It’s a small place, but I loved the food! My only complaint is that the food did take a little long, although we were a party of six do that could be why. Anyway, the food was delicious and our server Blanca-I’m guessing owner as well– was very kind and patient with some questions we had. This place is certainly a good bang for your buck! I will definitely come here again!

A great alternative to Teddy’s in the Pine Knot Village area. There was a huge line at Teddy’s so we decided to go to Blanca’s instead. No line and we were seated and attended to really quickly. They are on the way out if you’re heading back home.

This place is just down the street from my cabin, they have hot and fresh brewed coffee and danishes. Everything seems to be made to order, plus the woman who helped me was So So nice and aimed to please. She made sure I was able to warm my to go Danish, and I had cream n sugar for the coffee. Thank you to this local gem!!!

We found this place thanks to Unilocalers posting a pie picture, thanks fellow Unilocalers! This is a fantastic family run, family friendly restaurant. The service was sweet & attentive(I read about some unhappy guests before on here, so maybe we were lucky as it was us and 1 other fam in the restaurant this am) the breakfast was fresh and delicious and the peach pie was everything I dreamed of and more!!! What a great place and has for sure become a go to spot when we visit!

I was super hungry when arriving at Big Bear Lake so we stopped at the first restaurant we see. We were expecting over priced tourist trap food but I was totally surprised. The menu consisted of average comfort food and brunch items. We ordered the Country Benedic and Butter Cod Sandwich and both were super delicious. The fried fish was really tasty. The hash browns that came with the egg benedict was perfectly cooked. It is a small restaurant and there is a cute garden in the back.

Where do I begin? First of all the hostess is rude and obviously does not like her job. Second, it took over 40 minutes to get our food and the place want even packed. When we got our food is was room temperature. The Belgian waffle was not even warm enough to melt the butter that was on top of it. Third, the entire time we were there witch was over an hour, my wife was never offered a refill on her drink. To sum it up the service is HORRIBLE! waste of time and money. I will not return to this place.

This review is based solely on the pies. Not sure if standards are just lower up there in Big Bear(or if the selection is just so sparse that people will take what they can get), but this was really disappointing. All the awesome-looking pictures of pies with lattice tops that other reviewers were posting on Unilocal had me craving some of this pie. So we stopped in for a slice of blueberry and a slice of strawberry rhubarb. It looked lovely — and then I took a bite. It was a cold, gluey, thick, pudding-like mass of pink gunk with odd bits that I’m guessing were the rhubarb. The crust was pasty, too thick and tasted defrosted.(Maybe because it came straight out of the fridge and wasn’t warm.) After a couple bites, I couldn’t even finish it. And the blueberry was no different. I really wanted to like this place — I had been looking forward to a slice of the pie based on the photos on Unilocal, but looks are deceiving, people.

Have eaten here twice now. Once for breakfast and most recently for lunch. Food takes awhile to arrive but that is because it is made to order. I don’t mind waiting when the outcome is worth it. This is not a gourmet restaurant but is real home style cooking. My sister and I split the tuna melt and fish and chips. The melt was fantastic. The fish and chips adequate — they didn’t have tartar sauce! This is a great place for casual American food that also has some great baked goods. I cannot go here without getting the Mexican cookies.

I don’t know what you’re looking for… But if you want quality food, that’s really reasonably priced, served by one of the owners, and quick but you’re not rushed… I don’t know how you can do better. There was no line when we got there, where other Unilocal places were out the door… We weren’t crazy about the indoor choice of seating, but NO one was outside in the back, and it was an amazing Big Bear autumn day… We had that all to ourselves for the first hour of relaxing conversation. Under $ 20 for two people for breakfast and coffee. If you want fancy, or white table clothed snobbery… Chose another place, I wouldn’t hesitate to go back here. I will say that the one table we asked to be sat at, which was empty was being held for a party that called… So, I don’t know if they take reservations, but in that case they did.
