Well we finally got up early enough to get in for breakfast at Grizzly Manor Café. We got there around 7:15 and secured the last table for four. I ordered the Grizzly Bear which consists of two eggs, bacon, hash browns and two biscuits and gravy. My teen age kids ordered pancakes and they must have been twelve inches in diameter overlapping the oval plate. Within a few minutes after ordering the food started to arrive at our table. Everything was really delicious. The white gravy was fantastic. The biscuits aren’t as fluffy as you get in the Deep South but, they were light and delicious. We will try to get up early one more time before we leave. And the coffee was really good, too. Add that to a friendly and attentive wait staff this is a place you HAVE to go to in Big Bear. I wish they could open up one of these in San Antonio. It is a little cramped and by 7:45AM there were groups of people waiting to get in so the directive to get there early is real.

Too put it simply, amazing. We come here regularly I get the blob, my husband gets the mess and the kids get pancakes. Service is great they get you in as soon as they can but there is always a line you know you’ll have to wait but it worth it. Go hungry portions are large and you’ll be fat and happy by the end.

Hands down best breakfast in Big Bear Lake. Worth the wait on wknds. Family owned and it feels like a ‘greasy-spoon’ joint but delivers above and beyond! Come hungry n leave stuffed!

This is tough because for me a good restaurant must have great coffee, especially a breakfast place and the coffee was really bad. So sad because the meal was pretty good. My husband really enjoyed his chicken fried steak. The service was pretty good too. But I would not come back for 2 reasons the dreadful coffee and the ambiance. It was small inside and felt so crowded.

After waking up from my first night at Big Bear, I was mad hungry and cold so I woke up pretty early. I checked Unilocal and after a while I was able to get signal on my phone. The first thing that popped up was this breakfast joint. I quickly got ready and proceeded to walk on over since it was only a 6 minute walk from where I was staying. When I got there I was pretty lucky that they had one table left. Spaces are very limited here as this place is extremely tiny. Its about the size of a bedroom. Service was pretty cool. I glanced at the menu before deciding to go with the Polar Bear. The polar bear comes with 2 eggs, some bacon, hash browns and a giant plate of pancakes. To be honest that’s the main reason I wanted to come here, because of the giant pancake picture I saw on Unilocal. The pancake tastes really good and was the size of a basketball. It covered my plate completely. Clearly the highlight of my experience was indeed the pancakes. Actually they give you two so its really two of them covering the plate. The eggs were delicious too as well as the bacon. Hash was on point. The Biscuit and gravy was very flavorful. One of the better ones I’ve had in a while and I’m not that big of a fan of biscuit and gravy to begin with. The one knock is that the food does take a while to come out but that’s understandable though. If you are claustrophobic this is definitely not the place for you. If you get there when its jam packed, then just put your name down in the front and trust me it gets jam packed. I rolled by a few more times again to check it out and each time they were busy out the door. Overall I had a super time here. Its one of those mom and pop dining places that I see in the movies. Its pretty awesome to experience that finally. The food was solid and it gave me a giant boost that I needed to start my day. PS they accept every card except AMEX

Grizzly Manor is the BOMB! It’s a small quaint place, where the people are friendly and your server is also the cook. The food, oh my gosh, the food — it’s FANTASTIC!!! Be sure to come starving because their portions are HUGE!!! We had the Sissy Boy breakfast which consists of 1 pancake, 2 eggs and your choice of bacon or sausage; sounds like an average breakfast. NOT!!! The food is awesome, the service is great along with its country charm makes this a a definite must stop on any visit to Big Bear!!! They open at 6:00 am, be sure to go early because it fills up fast.

This is one of mine and my boyfriends go to spot when in big bear. If you’re hungry and looking a hearty breakfast this is the place to go, however be prepared to wait an average of 2hrs. The place is really tiny and it’s pretty well known from all the travelers. Most items on the menu are pretty big portions, which are good for sharing. Like their omelets, the pancakes are huges. I typical bounce back and forth between the blueberry pancakes or the waffles with the side of scrambled eggs and sausage. And my boyfriend sticks to the same thing all the time which is the waffles, eggs and bacon. The waffles are a must. Service is a bit slow and some of the staff are friendlier and more attentive than others.

Seriously amazing! My husband found this café online, saw the great reviews, so we checked it out. Got there around 9 and didn’t have to wait too long. The atmosphere is great(small and quaint), the staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is out of this world! I love a great breakfast, and this place didn’t disappoint. I got the Sissy Boy(one blueberry pancake, 2 eggs and a sausage patty) and my husband got the full order of Biscuits and Gravy with Hash browns. We shared everything and still had leftovers. The portions are huge and the prices are very reasonable. Definitely making a stop there next time I’m in Big Bear, CA!

Let me start by saying I’m a breakfast kind of guy. This place was great, I’ve eaten at just about every small town, airport, mom and pop breakfast joint from L.A. to Nevada and Arizona and Southern Colorado. This place has some of the best biscuits and gravy I’ve ever had, the eggs were cooked perfectly and the food is hot. The service was just as good. If you’re in town you won’t be disappointed. The holiday weekends can be a little wait so plan accordingly. Great place guys, thank you for your hospitality

Huge portions, friendly staff, not too long of a wait on a Saturday morning around 9. They were prompt, courteous and even complimented us on how cute our kids were(always a bonus). My husband ordered the Blob(which was amazing!), I got the waffle combo with bacon and eggs. The waffle was perfect, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, bacon was cooked exactly how I liked it, crispy not burnt. I was going to order a short stack of pancakes for the kids to share for $ 9 but the waitress recommended getting one pancake for them to share & even said they would probably not finish it. She was right, I saved $ 3 and the pancake was huge! Overall a great experience! We’ll definitely come back! On a side note, another Unilocal review recommended calling ahead to get your name on the waiting list but when we called, they said they only accept walk ins. They do tell you how long of a wait there is over the phone. We happened to come at a good time and waited less than 10 minutes before we got seated. Definitely come early to avoid crowds!

Honestly, I really felt that this place might have been overly hyped. While I loved the small diner feel, I’m not sure that I felt the 1.5 hour wait was completely warranted. I’m a big bear regular and have seen Grizzly Manor on my drive in and out as well as on countless TV shows. My husband and I finally decided to pop in when the snow was crap and we had to cut snowboarding short. The ambiance is small neighborhood kitchenette. There are maybe enough tables/bar seating for 20 people? Small restaurant = LONG wait. The food is good and the portions are SIGNIFICANT! I started with the hot chocolate which is delicious b/c they top it with a MOUNTAIN of whipped cream and add chocolate chips! YUM! My husband and I ordered The Mess and a pancake breakfast combo. First off, these are not small portions… You could EASILY share The Mess between 3 – 4 people and the pancake combo is basically a HUGE pancake paired with a HUGE plate of meat and hashbrowns. There wasn’t even enough room on our table for all the food! –Pancakes: PERFECTLY Fluffy –Sausage/Bacon: Not as crispy as I would have liked, but the portions were big so I could let this slide –Hashbrowns: SOCRISPY… Just the right amount of salt… YUM. –The Mess: Egg, bacon, sausage, cheese, jalapeño, hashbrown goodness. I couldn’t even close to finish and needed a long nap after! The service was friendly as well. Again, I just can’t say that waiting 1.5 hours was worth it. Pros: –Great PORTIONS –Good Price –Great service staff Cons: –LONGLONGWAIT –TOUGHPARKING –It’s a cold wait outside! Tips: –Call your name in to the list –YOUMUST be there when they call or you’re cut –If it’s a weekend, you can park across the way at the middle school lot

This place is Great! We had breakfast here both days we were in Big bear, the food is so… good, but Beware it’s A LOT! So do go crazy and order everything on the menu. The staff is funny and on point, we will definitely be back for another helping when back in the area!

This place deserves more than 5 stars. Hands down the best breakfast joint I’ve ever been to with great high energy service to match. You can’t help but appreciate how awesome the handful of staff are with their endless wait list. The cook bangs out the dishes quick and they’re freaking amazing. No fancy smancy menu or décor. Locals mixed in with visitors, walls completely covered with stickers and notes, huge ass pancakes, etc. It’s a small restaurant with huge amounts of character. Everything is fairly priced. Coffee is bomb. The portions are so huge that I guarantee food coma. In my opinion, the best seats in the house are along the counter. You get to see all the hustle and bustle. Love this place!

Went up to Big Bear Lake for a small getaway and to try my luck at snowboarding. After waking up sore as hell the next day, our goal was to hunt down the best Diner-like breakfast place and we found this gem! Although there was about a 30 min+ wait when we arrived we gave it a shot, must mean it’ good, right? Mind you there are not a lot of high-rated places to have breakfast here at BBL but this one. After being called in(waiting area outside), we noticed how unique the interior of the place was. There were stickers all around the walls, dollar bills signed, photographs autographed, deff a touristy feel to it, but with some locals as well. The owner, and Navy Veteran was there. He took our order and wasn’t long when our food came out nice and warm. I’ve gotta add the customer service there was fantastic. Even though, it is a small establishment the employees definitely hustled and made it work for all the foodies there. Got me a hot chocolate(perfectly suited) and ordered: THEBLOB: 2 Biscuits w/Gravy and Cheese, Bacon, &2 eggs on top! What a breakfast! I almost finished it since it was quite the heap but, man oh, man with that gravy I instantly felt like a mountain woman. Haha. You know how certain food makes you feel at home? I, by no means have ever been to the mountains, but this meal made me feel at home. Whatever that means. Would gladly return!

What everyone says is right — its a super small place and there is just about always a wait. We came in for breakfast on a Tuesday and there was a short wait and they had to tell everyone all they were serving was breakfast — odd but hey thats what we were there for. The food was good but not stand out special. I got eggs and sausage which was good and a blueberry pancake. There were lots of fresh blueberries in it but the pancake itself tasted dry and was a bit crumbly. We also sat right next to the kitchen and got to hear the cook telling one of the locals how he hates it when people not from town are here and he is so glad that they were all gone — always great to here when you, yourself are one of the out of towners. You would think he would appreciate the business he is getting but not so much.
