Very little patrons dining here should have been our first clue that this is not a good place. 1) The kids meals were expensive, they don’t include a drink, the drinks are $ 1.99 more 2) All of the food is very overpriced, $ 8 for 2 pancakes, no sides!(That’s just one example) 3) long wait for the food 4) the food is awful! Nothing is homemade, nothing has flavor. Nothing was prepared properly. I could’ve cooked a way better meal at home. 5) there was lipstick rings on my cup… bottom line DONOT go here, even if there are long waits at other places. You will be charged top dollar for low quality everything.

My husband and I came here after finding out they had German food. I had never had real German food before but my husband lived in Germany for awhile and missed German food. We ordered the combination meal for two. It was amazing. We left so full and so happy. It was so delicious! The employees were very friendly. We loved it here. Will definitely be back next time we are in Big Bear.

We are from Ventura county and stopped for lunch because of just the name! Old country inn! I had the bacon avocado burger with the skin on fries and my husband had the blue cheese burger. They both were GREAT! Service was great also! Will come back…

We were referred to this restaurant when we checked into our hotel and tonight was the second try we made to have dinner there. The sign says«dinner» nut no place in front or back, on the Web site, more here on Facebook do they show times of operation. We saw people inside but the doors were locked and it was only 8pm. Once logged onto Facebook we see, «closing in 20 min». I tried calling and there was no answer. I guess they don’t need any business. We decided to go to the Teddy Bear restaurant where they are ALWAYS nice and great food.

My family and I have been coming here for years and years. We were hesitant to come back because of the bad reviews it’s been getting. We thought maybe it changed hands. The food is still really good. It is on the pricey side, but the portions are HUGE. The food came fast, looks and tastes fresh. My kids ate a surprisingly amount of food, so the price was definitely worth it. I’d never rate a restaurant on their Bloody Mary alone. I overheard several other patrons complimenting the delicious food as well. The staff is friendly. Good experience, glad I ignored the negative reviews and came back.

I rarely try the eggs Benedict, but I decided to try it. Not very good, the eggs were cooked hard. Country potatoes not very good either. But the service was nice and friendly.

Before coming here I read the reviews first normally I would skip this place but the only reason I ended up here because grizzly manor café was packed and couldn’t find parking. The only good thing about this place is just that the big parking lot. We came to eat we waited so long to just get our plates and to make it worse the food was bland I got the country fried steak and it did not have flavor my boyfriend got pancakes nothing special I could of made them at home. Personally from the quality of the food this place is overpriced. I would have had a better quality of food at Denny’s.

Bought the avacado bacon burger. Perfect! We were eating at 3pm. A little slow at the start but fast once we ordered. Best burger I’ve had for a very long time. Fries were amazing too. Blue moon 22oz can’t go wrong either. Just the owner working, cooking etc. Not sure why all the bad reviews. We were amazed in the food quality. Thanks.

Parking Has plenty of space to park around behind it. Wait Time Went out to breakfast at 10am on a Monday. Waited roughly 5 – 10 minutes. Place had perhaps 5 booths open. Service After being seated was able to place drink order immediately and had subsequently was able to order in the next 10minutes. For an hour long dining experience we were checked on 4 times, which is a decent amount. Food We had water and milk. My son’s milk glass had crumbs stuck to the bottom of the inside of the glass. He was suddenly fine drinking water so he could see the bottom of the glass. The food was not bad. I had the Old Country Super Scramble and my son the French Toast. My food was good, found some unidentifiable crunchy bits akin to egg shells in it but only at the end. My son’s French Toast tasted rather bland, but didn’t keep him from finishing it. Checkout Was able to get the check and on our way in 5 minutes time. Summary Overall an OK breakfast dining experience. If you’ve eaten at greasy spoon’s before, you know what to expect. Food isn’t exorbitantly priced, atmosphere has the awesome XM station The Bridge(Classic Rock) playing which was great. Not a bad place to get food, just don’t expect perfection.

AVOIDTHISPLACEATALLCOST!!! The absolute worst service and less than average food. They made us wait over 30 minutes to get our tabs processed and didn’t bus our tables while we sat there. One of our guests had to go and assist with checking us out, and on to top it off they charged us 18% gratuity and all the management hid in the kitchen. Instead of simply apologizing for the wait the entire staff avoided every member of our group while we walked out. They somehow managed to serve our group both moist uncooked sweet potato fries and then overcooked sweet potato fries, soggy sandwich bread, and hockey puck burgers. For a place that sees so much consumer traffic, I would have expected a little more integrity and honesty instead of complete cowardice when dealing with an understandable delay.

Came here for lunch and almost every dish we got was awful and the Bloody Mary just wasn’t up to my expectations. I will give you credit for the turkey burger Our waiter was lovely though so I will give u a 5 for that.

Mediocre at best, the three cheese ham scramble was ok, but not worth the money. The biscuits and gravy my wife had, was, in her opinion bland, and as locals in Big Bear, we will not be going back for breakfast. Breakfast was much better in 2009, when we were visiting. Now we live here, and am seriously not returning here.

We came across this on a Tuesday and stopped for breakfast… I should have just gone to Denny’s! I ordered the Eggs Benedict… I am not sure what I got. The«hollandaise sauce» if that’s what you want to call it had NO flavor, and the«Canadian Bacon» was a piece of over cooked sliced ham on a raw english muffin. Not what I was looking for!

Came here for breakfast because every where else was packed. Definitely can see why it wasn’t busy here. Food was very mediocre, they forgot the avocado in my omelette, they never refilled our coffees, and forgot the biscuits to the chicken fried steak. Overall service wasn’t terrible, they were friendly but not very attentive. I would definitely have rather waited in line somewhere else.

Greeted with few seconds of entering the restaurant. Place was nearly empty. It was 5 pm on Friday & the table sat at near the bar was dirty. Asked waitress what time did restaurant open 8 am. Not understanding empty place that has been open since 8 am now 5 pm & tables are dirty. We ordered our food. Simple food we order & received it in timely manner. My grilled cheese with turkey was good the problem bread was loaded in butter so I wiped it off.

Good German food is hard to find in these parts, unless I cook it myself. So, when on a trip to Big Bear Lake I discovered that Old Country Inn had a German section on their menu, going there was a no-brainer. The décor is cool, the service fine and it’s a nice place right on Big Bear Boulevard, right down the street from The Village. I was dismayed, however, to discover that while sauerbraten is shown on their on-line menu, it is no longer offered. I decided to try the German Goulash instead. My wife opted for the Jäger Schnitzel, and our guests got one Chicken Schnitzel each. They enjoyed theirs; I was not as impressed with my choice as it seemed to lack flavor. A bit of salt helped. All entrées come with potato pancakes(yummy!) and little cups of sauerkraut, red cabbage and applesauce. I especially liked the red cabbage, and while some people are scared off by the word, «sauerkraut,» this was not really very sour. We got the apple strüdel a la mode for dessert, which we shared and it was delicious. If German food is your thing, this is the place to go in Big Bear.

This place has very solid American and German type food. I love coming here for breakfast. What can I say about breakfast they do it right! Lunch is great as well. The burgers and sandwiches are real tasty. I know I am being vague but that is what Solid American restaurants are. Come here you will not be disappointed. Don’t forget to get hot choclate.
