Pine Tree RV Park

This is an average campground. Bathrooms were clean. Small quiet park close to the lake and only a couple of minutes to grocery stores etc. management is nice but I don’t like the fact that they advertise cable and then tell you it’s down right now. Another Unilocal reviewer was told the same thing in Feb that was 7months ago. Not that I go camping to watch tv but it’s an «Amenity» they are advertising and you are paying for but not getting. Personally I think we all know it’s just a little more money for them if they don’t have to pay for cable and just tell people it’s «down».

I’m still rather steamed about my recent experience at this ‘RV Park’ (I think they use the term loosely) however I will try to keep emotions out of this and not be insulting. Which is more than can be said for the female Manager of this place. Here are the facts:
The Bathrooms are closed from 10PM-​8AM Ten hours. I was told on the phone when I made the reservation that they could leave them open for my GF and I since our RV does not have a bathroom. When I arrived a week later to check-​in I was told that wasn’t possible and was given two reasons by the two Managers:
1) They have had a problem with homeless people coming-​in late at night and using them.
2) They’ve had people get confused late at night and end-​up in the wrong one.
If you look at my reviews you’ll see that 1) I almost never leave 1 star reviews and 2) I have camped at every single campground around the lake this summer. Despite what the Manager of this place told me (then accused me of «Questioning her word» when I refuted her) this is the only campground which locks their bathrooms at night. Serrano, Lighthouse, Holloway’s all seem to do a better job of keeping-​out non-​guests than this place does.
Aside from the bathroom situation the park is very sparse; very few trees, no shade to speak of, no view (or access) to the lake, sites are close together and many of the rigs look like their full-​timers.
Needless to say after being mis-​informed about the bathrooms, being lied to about the policies at other parks which we’ve stayed at within the past 60 days and being yelled at by an angry woman who reminded me way too much of my ex-​wife, we left. 20 Minutes later we set-​up our vintage trailer at a beautiful site right on the water at Holloway’s.

I wanted to take a quick trip in the RV up to Big Bear. I knew all the campgrounds are still closed (Feb). There are 2 RV parks I found online. One was right on the lake and seemed a bit more expensive, so I decided to try Pinetree mainly due to price. I was a little concerned about privacy as most of the pictures and some reviews complained about the barrenness. I like a lot of tress and privacy between the sites. Making the reservation was quick and easy. The person who answered the phone (no online reservations) was very pleasant and easy to speak to. She inquired on RV length to provide a quote. At 26 ft I was quoted $ 49 per night. The quote includes Wi-​Fi (nice speed at 5 Mbps) and normally cable (not working at the time we were there, we have satellite anyway) and of course full hookups (30 and 50 amp elec.). I booked two nights for a total of $ 98. After returning home I noticed I was double billed and had to call back to request a refund. They were very courteous and the credit was immediately applied back to my CC. The park, although full on Presidents weekend, was quiet and the facilities (laundry and restrooms) were clean. They both are open from 8am to 10 pm. The restrooms I would say were even above your average campground RR, with soap, paper towels and a single stall shower. The spot we were assigned was large, probably one of the largest in the park. Yes, there is not a lot of privacy, (we were able to watch the tv of the gentleman behind us through his open trailer windows) but being in an RV makes it not so much a concern as long as you close your shades. Although all the spots were full, it felt empty because most everyone stayed inside most of the time. I think I only counted two other people having campfires during the evening. There was a few trees that provided some shade in the morning and afternoon. Some of the sites along side the outside edge have more shade and privacy, but there you may not have a fire ring and you are up against a chain link fence. I give it 4 stars for the value, cleanliness and quietness. I would return and recommend as long as you aren’t looking for that remote/​private campground feeling.

We were able to get a really nice space last minute on the 4^th of July holiday week when everyone else was booked. We felt like we found Big Bears best kept secret! Park was small, quiet, close to the lake and boat launch with full hook ups and free wifi. Location is great, just a couple of minutes to grocery store. Managers are very nice and Ben, the owner who answers phones and takes reservations, is sweet and accommodating.
We went for our first trip out with our new RV and didn’t know what the heck we were doing. The manager came, helped us figure out the basics so we could plug and hook up sewer.
We ended up storing our motor home with them for a very reasonable price and returned a few times.
Nothing fancy, but very clean.
Definitely the place to stay for a nice stay in Big Bear!

With small spaces, cracked pavement, no pool, this was nothing special. The only positive was the owners were really nice, and the bathroom (that only has 1 shower) was clean.

Great RV Park, The park was nice and small, no more than 20 RV’s (estimate). Full hookups, and WIFI included. The whole price was 55 bucks per night. I will definitely try this camp site again and go for a nice hike as the weather warms up.
