What a lovely spot. I have lived in Billerica almost all my life, I still refer to stores that no longer exist… «you mean where Stuarts was» or «where CWT was» and of course in Billerica we shop at Demoulas AND Market Basket. I have seen the Manning Manse go through all kinds of changes over the years. I was able to visit them for various incarnations of the historic tavern but this was one of the best. Calling this Jon Ryan’s Pub will never happen for me. Even while on the phone(texting) from the bar I let friends know I was at The Manse. However, it doesn’t look anything like it has in the past. It was a lovely, updated and very comfortable pub with lots of TVs to watch whatever sports are playing. The bartender that was there was very nice and quick with my wine. The menu is varied and I have to admit I was torn between quite a few good options. In the end I chose a pastrami sandwich that was done wonderfully. My daughter texted while I was there and asked for a few take out options, they couldn’t have been happier to accommodate. I look forward to going back and trying many other options that I skipped on my first visit. Thank you for a lovely afternoon

Great food and decent prices. They do not accept the Unilocal check in discount though, which was kind of awkward. They say it must be printed out instead of just«seen to redeem». Besides that, the burgers were yummy and the service was good.

I really want to like this place. I like to support the local business in town, but I’ve never had a great meal. Sunday I ordered the chix, broccoli and pasta– Absolutely no taste. The white sauce was very bland. The french onion soup was a bowl full of mushy onions with no broth and VERY salty. Both dinner companion’s agreed that the soup was not very good. The garlic bread that came with the pasta was cold and soggy. Drinks are good, but even the app’s aren’t worth writing about.

The dining room is clean, well maintained and family friendly. Our waiter was friendly and patient, especially when interacting with my toddler as she kept handing him everything within reach on the table, while he was trying to take our orders. The food is above average pub food and priced reasonably at around $ 15 per plate. I would recommend the steak tips.

Loved the spacious dining room and simple décor. But unfortunately this place is nursing home style food. Potato skins were the best part of my experience. All other food was cold no flavor. Burger wasn’t cooked the way I specified asked for well done and it came out still mooing at me? Pepsi was light in color meaning the syrup bag needed to be changed and when I ordered a new one it tasted like chemicals. Server was friendly and the hostess was pleasant.

We love this place! We go for bdays. mothers day. or even just to sit at the bar and watch a game. The food is great. So much to choose from. The buffalo quesadillas are awesome. Their taco salad is the best! Great chicken caeser pasta too. Lots of things you don’t see other places. The prices are very responsible. You never wait for a seat. Bar is pretty decent size and i like that its very separate from the dining room. The set up is very cute. Indoors and out. The staff is really friendly too every time. Plenty of parking. Lots of variety for drinks too. Im a big fan of this place! I always recommend it to friends with kids and to just chill out at the bar.

We are traveling for a soccer tournament and looking for a taste of the area, an honestly– could not have been more disappointed. We called ahead to reserve room for 8, still had to wait once we got there. The appetizers didn’t come out at the same time, the food was sub par, and I’m pretty sure the waiter forgot my sons order completely. Won’t be stopping back, or recommending.

Good spot for a beer, not much else. The food is garbage, frozen crap reheated. Lunch today sucked something fierce, cold, overcooked, complete crap!

food, specifically the steak tips are very good and the service is always very good, but its just always wayyyy too loud. I would go there more often and give a better review, but its just unbearable sometimes. Now in their defense i/we always go to the bar area, but even when no boston teams games are on it toooooo loud :-(

This is a pretty decent place. Food is good enough. Nothing I tried was mind-blowing but it wasn’t bad either. Very nice waitress and bartender. Not pricey either. Definitely recommend it if you want a quick bite and are in the neighborhood.

Good location. Ok food. Service was just ok. Only big compliant is that it’s SUPER noisy. Doesn’t matter where you sit it’s just plain loud. You have to scream to hear yourself talk.

I really wanted to like this place because we are in desperate need of such in the area. Unfortunately even though it is new and shiny on the outside it is totally mismanaged. The food should be good, but it isn’t. I ordered a chicken tender salad and it was as if they bought a package of salad and dumped in in. It wasn’t fresh by any stretch of the imagination and the tenders where more like the size of clam strips. The bar are was filthy and not staffed appropriately. The bartender just piled up dirty plates on top of the beer coolers right where the Guinness glasses are. There was an empty dish bin on the floor but she just kept piling them up right in front of us. She was working the whole bar area alone and was doing her best I’m sure. The manager walked around but was oblivious to any of this. I would like to say it was the first time I had a bad experience there but I can’t From the looks of the dwindling crowds this place will be closed by the end of the year. Really a shame

Finally, a lounge for ‘after work’ crowd over the age of 21! Fabulous cocktails, beers, apps. Meet cousins here once a month to catch up. Husband and I met for dinner but steak over cooked… taken off bill immediately… rest of meal was great. Coconut shrimp, skins, nachos, steak tips yummy! Salmon tips for Mother’s Day were great. Good spot to catch a sports game on huge TVs. High top tables and huge bar seating area. Easy access down Rt129 to Rt3.

3.5 stars. Stopped here for a business lunch and we decided to eat at the bar. Our bartender was very prompt and polite. We were served quickly and the teas were brought right away. We waited a little while for our sandwiches, but they were both hot and fresh and tasty. I had the pulled pork with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was good(the roll was great). The fries were waffle cut, well done and really great. Obviously the way to go is sit at the bar. I also thought the place was spotless.

Our family eats out at least a few times a month. This was our first and last time here. The positives: It was very quiet in the restaurant. We were seated and our order was taken right away. The negatives(some): –We rarely saw our server and had to ask another server to find her for us. –My son orders fried fish every time we eat out. Never has he had a piece of fish so full of bones. –My daughter could live on pasta yet couldn’t eat more than one bite of her pasta and sauce. My husband and I tried and agreed with her. — The kids ice cream sandwiches looked as though they had melted and been refrozen. Needless to say, they did not eat them. –The women’s bathroom was terrible. One toilet was completely clogged. The other stall smelled terrible. We then noticed the small trash barrel with vomit in it. We have never been so unanimously disappointed at a restaurant.

This was my third time here. This isn’t fine dining, just tasty pub grub at moderate prices. So far I have had the chicken parmesan, butternut squash with chicken and broccoli, and a meatloaf sinner. I have not been disappointed. All were washed down with the house Merlot. Hubby is hooked on fish and chips which he has ordered twice. My friend had the butternut squash on my recommendation tonight. She loved it. The service was top notch every time

For Thanksgiving we decided to try Jon Ryan’s Pubs for their Thanksgiving style turkey dinners. The turkey was tender and juicy, the mashed potatoes were delicious, and the stuffing that was hidden under the turkey was a welcomed surprise. What was even more surprising were the amazing crab rangoon appetizer! Who knew they would have crab rangoon at a pub?! Those were some of the best crab rangoon we’ve ever had. We also paired the meal with a Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin Ale. Watch the full review and see the food here —

I’ve now been to John Ryans twice, both at this new Billerica location. Having just reopened everything is nice and clean, basic décor, nothing to complain about there. Both times my party entered we were greeted right away by a pleasant hostess and seated immediately. The first time I visited I ordered the Caesar salad. It wasn’t terrible, I could certainly eat it, but it was bland, the lettuce was limp and the dressing was just a bit off. The croutons were the only redeeming factor. But it was inexpensive so I couldn’t complain too much. The second time I decided to try a sandwich. I got the chicken parm. It said it came with, and I’m quoting the menu«our unbelievable fries». It arrives and doesn’t look all that appetizing. The chicken was cooked well and they used fresh mozzarella which was nice but the sauce was just not good. It was clearly at one point a(probably) frozen bagged sauce. And it just overwhelmed the sandwich with lumpy chunks of tomato paste. The fries were also very obviously a bagged frozen fry no seasoning and therefore not unbelievable. Tasted fine once I threw some salt and pepper on them but something I could have easily made from my own freezer. Finally, the service. We were greeted by a very nice hostess right away like I mentioned, and our waitress was nice when she came to take our order for drinks and food, but then she vanished and only returned to our table at the end of the meal to ask if we needed anything. It was a little late for that. Despite the fact that the meal was served quickly before we could realize the side sauces were missing for the sandwiches, it was way too late to get them at that point. So three stars because it was edible food that didn’t make us sick but the service was mostly absent. I’m probably not going to come back just because for the same money we spend here we could go to a lot of other places just as close by.

Tonight was our second visit to the new Jon Ryan’s in Billerica. Both visits we had basically the same experience so I can start off by saying that they are at least consistent. Both visits we were greeted and seated promptly. Immediately upon entering the main dining room we were overwhelmed by a fishy stench that loomed around for the entire rest of the meal. Like many of the other reviews state, the service was not great by any means. We have gone on the weekend and a weeknight and we were neglected by our server both times. The second visit, it appeared that our server was more interested in socializing with a couple at another table that she clearly knew outside of work. She must have spent twenty minutes standing and talking to them while we waited for a side of sauce that I asked for and never did show up. I ordered a beer the first visit and it was warm and flat. It appears that an issue was found and resolved since, but I wouldn’t expect a place that considers itself a ‘pub’ to have this kind of problem. The soda was fine on the second visit. I need to reiterate from the other reviews that this place is EXPENSIVE. Our dinner for two was $ 35 and we didn’t even order an appetizer, alcohol or anything off of the ‘pub favorites’ section of the menu, where you won’t find anything under $ 14. The menu is fairly extensive and there is something for everyone, but the pricing of pretty much everything on the menu is a major turn off, especially for an area like Billerica. If the food was outstanding I may give them the benefit of the doubt, but it isn’t, which leads me to. The food is good, not great and definitely nothing to write home about. I will say that the buffalo chicken wrap was generously filled with juicy chicken fingers and looked about as good as it does in the picture on the menu. The second time I got the western burger which was bland and boring. The burger has cheddar cheese, bacon and onion rings on it? Funny, I didn’t taste any of those things. All I tasted was the BBQ sauce that the burger was drowning in. The burger was cooked to my liking but that was about the only redeeming factor unfortunately. Like one of the other reviewers commented, the menu states that the fries are ‘unbelievable’. They are not unbelievable. They clearly came from a bag from the freezer and had no taste whatsoever. We’re going to give Jon Ryan’s at least a couple months before considering returning. I have also been to the Tewksbury location and did have a better experience there. I find it comical that the tagline for the restaurant is ‘Fresh is the Standard’ when they are clearly cooking from the freezer for multiple dishes. They completely missed the idea of what it means to be fresh when it comes to food. I want to like Jon Ryan’s, but an extremely overpriced menu and poor table service is a sign that I need to stay away until they straighten things out.
