I’ve eaten here a couple of times and it has been fantastic. Last time I had a triple decker Ruben on marbled rye. It was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. I will definitely be back.

Fast, friendly, huge selection, and most importantly, delicious! It is a little pricer than the Subway a few feet away, but it is definitely a better choice! It’s been long time since I have had a real deli sandwich and I’m very glad I found this place! I would highly recommend this place! The bread is soft and flavorful and the veggies are ripened perfectly! I don’t even like tomatoes but the look so perfect that I had to get them, and thank god I did! Don’t miss out on this place! I can’t wait to go back

The gem of binghamton. Truly a classic of its own. The sandwiches are heavy meals fit for a king. Friendly service and great atmosphere along with exceptional food. Only downside is that they are closed on the weekends);

This is another one of those restaurants where the food quality is excellent! when I go there .I usually get a roast beef sub… the roast beef is rare and I get it on a Tuscan roll… the veggies are very tasty with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing to die for… highly recommended !

I’ve walked by the place many times and I’ve had friends tell me very good things about the place. Stopped in during my lunch break. I didn’t have much time and I had a cold so I ordered a small cup of chicken noodle soup and a small cup of chili. The chicken noodle soup was average, but THECHILI was absolutely delicious. They don’t joke around when they say its HOT. Very good. Will stop by again soon

Huge selection of sandwiches. The subs are basically two meals because they’re very large. Check it out for a quick bite at lunch.

Great selection and friendly service. Triple decker Campus Special sandwich was two meals in one. The Rock chicken sub was just ok.

The Old World Deli lives up to its name, which is an old world kind of deli. During a lunch break, one can see plenty of people lining up to order sandwiches and other menu items, then sitting down for a delicious meal. I’ve had some tasty meals, even a chicken spiedie sandwich here. It’s one of the better places that you’ll find in downtown Binghamton.

Good sandwiches. Definitely got a manly Ron Swanson feel to it but great all the same. I’ll def come back here.

Unfortunately, it’s impossible to find Boars Head Cold Cuts in Binghamton. Every single place I have found, including here at Old World, uses pre-sliced, off brand cold cuts. If you ask to get it sliced fresh you’ll get looked at like you’re from Mars. The sandwiches are whatever. If you stick to something basic like ham and cheese you’ll find it refreshingly mediocre, but not terrible. If you venture out and try something like, for instance, a Cuban Sandwich, you’ll be sorely disappointed. My sandwich leaked clear through two layers of wax paper, and wasn’t edible even after I peeled away the paper that melded to the fat of the pork. The bread is made with soft water that comes out of decrepit century-old pipes. It tastes like detergent and wet dog. The owner literally laughs at you as he serves you. I miss Bagel Boy so badly I could almost ball…

Try the Old World Delight. It is the best sandwich on the menu! Friendly people, great sandwiches, top shelf ingredients, and a warm atmosphere.

this is a great place to grab a quick lunch or sit down with company. the sandwiches and subs are always fresh, and they pile on the meat. you won’t leave hungry. they also offer really good daily specials. the staff and ownership are friendly. the location is perfect to walk to if you work downtown. another local favorite of mine.

I first went to the Old World Deli more than 5 years ago, during a brief period in which I worked downtown. About once a week a coworker and I would split a sub and it made for a good, cheap lunch. In particular, we enjoyed the Meatball Parm sub. After I stopped working downtown I pretty much forgot the place existed. Anytime we go downtown these days we always take the back way, Clinton St. and Henry St., so I hadn’t been there in awhile. Today, I had planned on stopping by Curry’s of India for their lunch buffet, as it had been recommended to me by a friend. Little did I know that Curry’s is closed on Monday. So I thought to myself… what else is nearby? And when I looked straight ahead I saw the façade of the Old World Deli. The place is a lot larger than I had remembered it, with about 10 – 15 tables forming a long line parallel to the counter where you order and pay. I decided to go with the Meatball Parm and see how it stacked up to how I remembered it. It was very good! Nice fresh bread and tasty meatballs. For a 6″ sub it was rather filling, much more satisfying than the 8″ sub I got at the Full Belly Deli in Vestal a couple weeks back, though I did like the Full Belly’s bread a little more. Less than $ 5 as well. Definitely a steal. It definitely won’t be another five years before I return to the Old World Deli this time around.

Ordered a chicken parm hero and a tossed salad. Excellent service and the food was excellent. Apparently they bake their own bread every morning and it tasted great. I would go again.

I’ve walked by the Old World Delicatessen plenty of times without stopping in. Finally, on a day when we were running late for classes that we didn’t want to go to, I said to my boyfriend«Wait! We have to get lunch! Let’s go… there!» and pointed at the Old World. The sandwiches were immensely satisfying. The bread was amazing(high praise from me, as I am exceptionally picky about bread), and it made the just-fine fillings seem even better. The next time the boyfriend’s parents visited, we suggested going to this excellent place we just found, The Old World Deli. Boyfriend’s parents lived in the Binghamton area in the ‘70s, while they attended SUNY and for some time after. Mr. Boyfriend’s Dad laughed. «You two just found the Old World?» he asked. «I used to eat lunch there every day when I was working for the Department of Transportation!» So there you go. Two generations of Old World Deli fans!

I love mayo but the mayo here is terrible. Tastes like miracle whip. I got into oil and vinegar because mayo here was not an option. And even the meats are just okay. But the breads are excellent and give those slightly maligned insides a big, warm hug. Daily specials are always appreciated and I liked their drink selection. I was turned onto this place by one of the many loyal customers who, as a student, infiltrated the secrets of the city. I felt less like a SUNY knowing that this existed.

Justgimmebread!!! Next time I go, forget about the sandwich filling. I am left unfazed by their menu… it’s good, but ehhh… it’s a deli. Fairly basic. However, I am in LOVE with their BREAD!!! mmmm…the oregano bread… yumm! I am told that they bake their own bread and whoever bakes it is a bread GOD!!! I’ve never had such a perfectly textured and flavored bread. My brain is still pondering its amazingness.

Eating lunch at the Old World Deli is like experiencing Binghamton of the prosperous 70’s(I make the claim despite not having lived in Binghamton during that time nor being alive then either. Oh well. ;). At 12:30, there was a near constant stream people ordering their lunches. Having walked by Old World Deli dozens of times, I always thought it was a struggling business. But being inside during lunch, they seemed like they do a pretty good business. The setup is simple. You wait in line. Order your sandwich from a huge standard menu and separate«daily specials» boards. I got myself a BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich. One of the two dudes makes your sandwich(with a rough and tumble NYC vibe. Love it.) and then you pay at the cash register. It’s your standard deli. But what I loved about Old World Deli was its ability to transport me to another time and see Binghamton in a different way. while i was munching away at my lunch, I could easily imagine myself in a NYC deli, starring in my own personal 70’s New York Scorsese film. It just had that feel to it. And that’s cool. Old school urban cool. Now I just need to find myself some plaid trousers and a cowboy hat.
