Edgar’s does an amazing job with almost everything we have eaten here. King Cake: go with the large one you will NEED it. This kind cake is made fresh and taste amazing. I am not a fan of the over stuffed King cakes sold at many bakeries now a days. This King just has a little cream cheese on the top under the traditional icing. Petit fours: strawberry and vanilla were amazing and melted in your mouth. Omelette: delicious and well stuffed with delicious items. Wait time: I have only had to wait on weekend mornings. Usually pretty easy to get in and out. Staff: can be a little sassy but are knowledgeable of their product.

Caramel and strawberry(whole) cakes are good and I can still recommend them. However, that’s about all. Once again we tried several flavors of their baked goods(cupcakes this time) to only throw out the majority. There were six of us and six different flavors. We decided to eat them round-robin style so everyone could have some of each. The only ones finished were the strawberry and the cake portion of the chocolate. The chocolate decadence, peanut butter, caramel, carrot cake, and vanilla were disappointing. They were either bland(needed salt?) or the frostings left much to be desired. Most tasted like the powdered sugar with cheap fat. Yuck. The quality of the cupcakes became the dinner conversation and all six of us agreed we should share our experience… and that I would get stuck writing it.

Went to Edgar’s Bakery to pick up my birthday cake. We were a little hungry. Decided to have a little lunch. I had a Ruben. Came w/home made fries, got a side order of a fruit cup. Talk about sensational??? Thought I’d died, and went to heaven! Pat got one of the two chicken salads sandwiches. OMG! BEST chick. salad I’ve ever sampled. Went back thru the line to pick up cake, brought home cake(which was EXCELLENT!!) Chicken salad,&home baked cheese bread. That was my pre-B-day celebration dinner! It was Fabulous! If you are here in the B’ham area, lok Edgar’s Bakery up. I solemnly promise you will not be disappointed! :-)

Ehh. Bread was worst part of the meal. Chicken salad was great and the only reason I go there for lunch. The cakes are so delicious, I wish they could fix their dry croissants and cookies.

This past weekend my wife asked me to pick up a few items for our Saturday evening football gathering to watch the Auburn/GA game. Although this normally wouldn’t be a problem, asking me at to run a few errands right in the middle of college football Saturday — with the Mississippi State/Alabama game about to begin — is definitely a no-no but we’ll save that story for later. The last stop on my hit list was Edgar’s Bakery just off of 280 on Highway 119. But does my wife really think I can go into Edgar’s to buy food for others and not get something for myself? I’ve long known that a slice of heaven is in every bite of goodness behind the boxes and coolers so I, of course, added a few fresh lemon squares to the order to munch on the way home. The extremely polite and energetic cashier quickly showed me the cupcakes my wife had ordered, decorated masterfully with tiger faces for her beloved Auburn Tigers. Unfortunately, the outcome of the game wasn’t as sweet as our delicious treats. But, we’ve already placed our Iron Bowl order for elephant and tiger cupcakes — may the best cupcake win!

If you live/work near an Edgar’s and haven’t had a breakfast burrito then you’re a real scum bag! For these next 10 –15 minutes my life is way better than yours. I imagine watching me eat this is exactly what it was like when I watched Michael Jordan play basketball.

1st time for breakfast– so far not impressed. Out of potatoes @10:57 am when breakfast is served till 12:30 on Sat… & just saw what I ordered on someone else’s plate — going back to the kitchen looking like not a bite taken out of it. Check out my photos for more details.

I have stopped in here a few times and gotten a hot chocolate and muffins. The blueberry are delicious as is the hot chocolate. My husband has had their coffee and was pretty pleased with it. I would love to sample some of their cakes some time as they look amazing but have never had the chance.

Went for lunch and had a Reuben sandwich. It was so so good. Also I like the pepper cole slaw. I could not get a real cup of tea though. They only have cups of hot water and you choose from this basket of ‘special teas’. I just want a cup of tea, black tea with milk. Its so hard to get a real cup of tea here in the states! Anyway, that’s everywhere and not just Edgars I suppose. The food is great and we will for sure go back again.

The best place to get a cake, cookies, cupcakes, or lunch. I recently went in unplanned to grab a cake for a friend’s birthday. No problem AND they offered to put a message on the cake even though they were quite busy. Edgar’s is definitely worth the calories.
