First time actually going on site. Previously had always had someone pick up a to go plate for me. I had the Pastichio. I have had better but this ranks right up there. The plate includes spanakopita and a salad. I’m not a fan of spinach, however I still enjoyed the spanakopita. Salad was fairly plain and dressing was prepackaged. Chocolate baklava is definitely better than the original. Almond crescent was large and very tasty. Overall this is a can’t miss for fans of Greek cuisine. I seriously contemplated going back for dinner that night to try something else.

Wonderful experience that allows one to enjoy all that Greece has to offer: great music, delicious food, and interesting people. Was my first time at the festival and have to say that I was not disappointed, great event if one is even slightly interested in Greek cuisine and culture. Any cultural event that allows people to openly display the heritage that has molded them into a proud community should be celebrated not once or twice a year, but every day. Truly enjoyed my time this year and eagerly await the next.

Our family has been coming to this excellent festival for years and it is a major highlight of our year! We are in no way Greek, but when we come here we get a massive case of «Greek Envy!» Opa!

No beating around the bush on this one… this festival is INCREDIBLE!!! I would fill this whole review out with exclamation points, but then I wouldn’t get to talk about the food. This is something that myself and many people I know look forward to every year. Everything here is amazing. So the biggest conundrum I have every year is that there are only so many meals to go and enjoy, and so many things I want to eat. The deluxe plate has it all. Salad, rice, pastichio, chicken, and the always incredible spanakopita. But none of the lamb. So let me say this: all of the sides are incredibly delicious. And the Spanakopita is king of the sides. The lamb is the best entrée here. Whether it is on a skewer or in a gyro. You can get the Spanakopita it the pitas, but they aren’t ALL with spinach(which is the best). So if the deluxe came with lamb, I would be all set and get the same thing every single time. So in a way, I’m glad they don’t so I will jump around to different items. But it wouldn’t make my head hurt so bad jumping around from decision to decision. All of this blabbering to say, there are so many great options and only so many meals to eat it. You cannot go wrong with anything. The desserts are also on point and I’m not a dessert person. But if you leave without even having one baklava, you should stir at night in anguish of making that regrettable decision. If you do one annual thing in Birmingham, this should be it. You throw all of this great food into a festival of dancing, wine, beer, and high spirits(feelings, not liquor) it is one incredible experience.

Where to begin… Lets just say if you are looking for authentic Greek food… this is your place. I am very passionate about my gyros… this one stacks up there with the greats. We came here for a lunch get together with Will and some fellow Unilocalers, We all tried various entrees. I had the gyro, although it was very good. it was compact. I recommend getting the gyro and the salad to have a complete meal. After eating just the gyro i was still a bit hungry, the salad finished it off :) And one recommendation i have to make is the chocolate baklava!!! Even if you buy a dozen it is not enough, i am a HUGE fan of deserts… This has the perfect balance of sweet and semi sweet to it, the honey drizzled on top is the icing on the cake so to speak. Just as reference, my daughter is extremely picky… if it were not for the honey on the baklava she would have loved it too. All in all if you enjoy greek food, the festival is a must if you can make it. Prices are decent enough, but the chance to eat authentic greek food… priceless :)
