I aways get the same thing: turkey breast sandwich, homemade potato chips and an Old Fashioned with Makers Mark. Hits the spot! Service is solid, environment is appropriate and food brings me back!

Starting with the positives: What we got to eat of our food was good. We were seated promptly and our orders were correct. My husband had the pig in the garden salad. I had the BBQ nachos and our 3 year old had the chicken tenders kids meal. Now for the negatives: When our server brought the bill it was for $ 25. My husband gave the server our credit card. When it came time to sign the bill, our credit card had been charged $ 35 instead of $ 25. The server had added an additional pig in the garden salad to our check after taking our credit card. Perhaps he thought we wouldn’t notice? Since it was going to take a minute for my husband to find our server and sort the charges out, I took our restless little guy outside. My husband stepped away from the table for less than a couple of minutes to flag someone down to help with the check. During those few minutes my husband saw our server throw away our takeout boxes.(They included our three year old’s entire meal and more than half of mine!) When my husband asked our server about it he lied and blamed it on the busboy! With the billing«mistake» and being lied to about/not getting to bring our leftovers home, we won’t be back.

My first experience here after hearing nothing but good things from my Alabama friends was nothing short of amazing. We managed to get there before the wait became over an hour, and we were seated immediately. The first thing that came were the cheesy biscuits, which were out of this world!!! Make sure to ask for the honey butter! We ordered the pulled pork sandwich which came with fries and the kids chicken tenders(only $ 4!) which came with a cup of fresh fruit. For the two of us that was more than enough food, but if you are very hungry then it probably won’t be enough. The barbecue sauce on the pulled pork was delicious– slightly sweet and tangy. The chicken tenders were very juicy and flavorful but my favorite detail was the honey mustard sauce. My boyfriend insisted that I try the chocolate pie as well so even though we were so full, we got a slice to go. I tried a bite on our way out and WOW– this pie is so rich, sweet, and tasty! Try it if you get the chance! Overall, an excellent experience and I will definitely be back.

We were seated quickly– which was wonderful as we were starving. Waiter was pleasant but seemed in over his head. We had a ½rack ribs w collards and baked beans as sides. The collards were full flavored without being bacon greasy, beans hinted at brown sugar without being too sweet. Ribs were cold and not tender– disappointing. We used the ribs primarily as a vehicle to carry the AMAZING Habanero bar-b-q sauce to our tongues. Wowowowow! Worth the trip for the sauce.

Food is good for bar-b-que, average and really expensive. We are not talking about eating at a serious restaurant, so the prices should reflect one. There is a drive through that they should really stop. It takes an unthinkable amount of time to place and get your order. We ordered a half smoked, pulled chicken, 4 buns and a small order of collared greens. It was quite a disappointment! Shame on them, there was not enough chicken for 4 sandwiches. The place used to be better before this«celebrity» attitude.

I am visiting down here this weekend and my friend took me here for lunch. The biscuits and«honey» butter were awesome. I highly recommend them. I had the potato and a half for lunch thinking how big is one potato going to be. What they brought out was enormous and covered in barbecue sauce and pulled pork. It was amazing and I highly recommend it, especially if you’re pretty hungry. Great to get some real southern food!

If you had asked me my favorite food in high school, I would’ve answered, «Jim n Nick’s cheese biscuits. or smores.» Always a favorite — I make time to stop every time I visit home in Birmingham. I recommend the BBQ chicken, the chicken tenders with white sauce, the pulled pork sandwich, the mashed potatoes, the macaroni and cheese, the Loaded BBQ Baker(potato), and the potato salad. It’s obviously hard to go wrong.

The only decent part of this establishment is the cheese biscuits they bring pre-meal. I don’t even think those are worth the calories. Go on down Hwy 280 to Miss Myras in Cahaba Heights.

Food-excellent, and it always is. On 8/14, I had the Southern burger. If I had any complaint at all, it would be that there were far too many onions on the burger. Service-not as great as usual, and that affected the rating today. We had a new server going through training. When we were seated, were were greeted by the server and another who was training her, and they explained they would be training. The new server took the drink orders, with no problems. The drinks were brought out to us, and the food orders were taken. The trainer took those orders, and before leaving, she told us they’d bring some of the cheese biscuits out to us. When they came back over to bring the biscuits, they were conversing with each other in Spanish, slid the basket of biscuits up on the table, and then walked away, not saying a word to us. It did not take long at all for the orders to be brought out. They weren’t brought out by either of our servers, but those servers both came to check on us not long after… again though, speaking in Spanish to each other on the way to the table, then swapping to English to speak to us. They both spoke great English, so it doesn’t look good to others to swap back and forth from one language to another, especially in a restaurant settings when others may assume you are talking about them if you speak one language when walking up to a table, then swap languages, and swap back when walking away. We don’t think they were talking about us, and it may have been easier to explain things in Spanish, but if you’re going to be speaking English in order to do your job, I’d suggest using the same language while working.

Never disappointed… Jim n Nicks is one of the best restaurants in Birmingham. The food always tastes fresh and always good. I’ve never had anything on the menu that I didn’t like. Thanks to Chris for helping me out yesterday. It’s people like him who keep customers coming back.

We came in at night so the cheese biscuits where cold(I wasn’t expecting them to be fresh), my steak was great the only thing that spooked me was the piece of mold I found on the side of my potato. The manager insisted everything was ok and it wasn’t mold she then offered a free slice of pie. Overall the food was good I usually go to the one in downtown Alabama and I probably will continue to go to that one.

We ordered a couple of pounds of pork and pulled chicken(to-go) for our family gathering. Very tender and tasty. Everyone was very pleased. I’ve been to Jim & Nick’s twice. I’m not from Birmingham, but this BBQ place has a great reputation and it lived up to it.

The cheddar biscuits are the best thing they have on the menu — hands down. The BBQ, well your not in Kansas City or Memphis so it’s just ok. The brisket is not the worst I’ve had but it’s always tough — under cooked. I wouldn’t recommend it. But again the cheddar biscuits are outstanding

Cheese muffins; careful with these savory treats. Spare Ribs; among the best — you order these by the pound, not half/full rack. Portions are large, prices are reasonable. I will return.

Food is great, always… But dear goodness, I’m not sure how they can be so obtuse to how terrible their drive through service is. It’s slow. The folks who take your order and money look and act like you just ran over their puppy. There’s no sense of urgency. And the service people yell at YOU because their intercom system sucks. IMO, a good restaurant has good food and good service. My vote is 2.5 stars due to great food but bad service.

Three reasons to love Jim ‘n Nicks: 1) Cheese muffins — As soon as you sit down, you are presented with a courtesy basket of these little tasty sweet cheese muffins that would make Martha Stewart cry. We were a table of seven women and they happily refilled that basket 3x. 2) Big baked potatoes — Any restaurant offering to slap BBQ beef, cheese, sour cream and green onions onto a baked potato the size of my head is A-OK. It was so delicious and filling that I couldn’t finish it. 3) The waiter carded me — It was a cheap thrill to be a 40+ woman carded in front of my aunts and cousins. It had been sooooo long since I had to show ID for booze that I asked my cousin to take a photo. Needless to say, our server earned himself a BIG tip. One tip — the BBQ sauce on the table that reads«Hot & Spicy» is really hot and spicy. It took three glasses of water and a few of those cheesy muffins before I could feel my tongue again.

Let’s just start out by saying I get better service at a lower price at many other establishments. From the time we entered the door we experienced rude employees. I dined in for lunch with my wife and 1 year old daughter, over all the food was great, but bad service really can ruin the food aspect. We sat down and waited about 7 min for a server to greet us, and when she finally came over, she barely said a word and didn’t even make eye contact with neither my wife or myself. Throughout the meal, we had to ask for a refill, the cheese bicuits came out maybe 2 minutes before the food(which took about 20 min to come out), and our server said maybe 5 words to us. She actually did thank us very briefly as we were paying out.

Mmmmmm meat and cheesey biscuits! I got the pulled pork plate and it was delicious. The meat was tender and tasty. I tried my brother’s baby back ribs and they were really good. And my dad’s turkey was smoky and enjoyable. For the sides, the coleslaw was good and not too mayo-y, the collared greens were good but a little too salty for my liking, the banned beans were good, and the fries were okay but not crisp enough. The meat and biscuits are what you go for though! Take some cheese biscuits home with you; they taste even better the next day!

I had the ribs with collards and cabbage(vegi of the day). It was great!!! The ribs: good smoke ring and not overdone. They had the perfect amount of pull on each bite. Of the two sauces at the table I liked the spicy habanero the best. The sides: amazing… I don’t know which I liked better. Best I’ve had. Staff: The waitress Jaime was great. She was attentive and friendly. I didn’t even need to ask for a to go cup. Great experience and great Q!
