We stopped in here shortly before they closed for the day. It smelled wonderful and my teenage son turned to us and pointing at a chocolate said, «that looks good, I’d sure like to try it». The lady behind the counter overheard him and reached into the display, pulled out a small chocolate and set it in the counter for him. We thought that was nice and she offered to cut it into pieces for us all to try. We tasted it, enjoyed it, but then learned their credit card machine was down. Disappointed, I thanked her for the sample and offered her a little tip since we didnt have enough cash to purchase any chocolate. She said, «oh, that’s not necessary. But you do have to pay for the sample chocolate.» Excuse me? Not a single word was mentioned about that, nor had we even asked for a sample. It was simply offered to us. Then she told me it would be $ 2.75 for the tiny chocolate! We are talking size of a Hershey kiss. I paid it with the only $ 3 in cash I happened to have but that was a heck of a trap. The small spec of a chocolate I tried was pretty good, which earns them two stars instead of one, but we left very frustrated.

Had a negative trip previously due to rude employee, tried it again this year and they were so nice, chocolate was really great.

Walking into town, we passed by this place around 3:30pm on a Saturday and decided to go in. We initially considered stopping by on our way back, but saw the hours and thought best to catch them while we are here. Ordered the hot chocolate(without ice cream) and I really enjoyed it! Thick, velvety dark chocolate goodness. My parents thought it was too sweet but I loved it. I’m sure it’s much sweeter with ice cream added. We ordered two pieces of white chocolate with blueberries, one coffee and one plain dark chocolate. Pretty good but a bit expensive($ 11). Friendly service and I’m happy we supported this place.

Was not impressed. Paid $ 11 for 4 small pieces of chocolate that did not taste the greatest… better off going to the gas station.

My ONLY complaint is that their hours are a bit unpredictable. These folks rival some of the best chocolate in Europe OR in my San Diego! If you pass the shop and it’s open, do not miss the opportunity to treat yourself. Their chocolates make the most desirable gifts for friends, family, and co-workers. Colleagues of mine in Chicago beg me to bring to them more from this world-class chocolatier.

Well I wish I could tell you if this place is good but it’s never open!!! I’ve been to bisbee 3 times recently and everytime I show up during their normal business hours they are closed. Today the guy saw me walking up at 4:23 and locked the door behind him. It’s a Saturday and the sign says open till 6pm. The shops are so weird in this town and apparently could care less about getting business. Wish I could have tried it though. But with those practices I’m surprised anyone’s gotten to try it.

Three stars for the following reasons: 1. Their hours are so exclusive that it is hard to hit them unless you are there on the right days and times, so we weren’t able to actually see the store. 2. The chocolate, while tasty was not anything that I haven’t tasted before. 3. It’s very expensive. Bought a box of four individual pieces for $ 10! The box is a 2in by 2in box so the pieces aren’t very big either!

YAWM!!! Mister and I were walking by and could smell the chocolate. We decided to stop in for a try. He went for a bar with espresso beans while I went for a chili laden taste of heaven. Highly recommended! How can you not stop when you smell the chocolate?!

.. . A Quote from Chocoláte: «I have this theory that chocolate slows down the aging process… It may not be true, but do I dare take the chance?» First Off. .. It’s Chocolate — What more is there to say? Ok, well, it is tasty, freshly made, is true to the craft of chocolate making, is not too over-the-top, with restrained decadence and ample sweetness and is just about perfect. This extends to the wonderful hot chocolate too:(it just deserves to be served in a thick, heavy, warmed mug!) This place is a true Arizona gem, and there is no better place to take in those healthy antioxidants while getting that chocolate fix. Bisbee never ceases to amaze with its treasures and great finds; this being one of them. If it is fall, winter, or early spring, and a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, stop in and treat yourself; you will be happy you did. Local, Fresh, Consistent, Indulgent, and homemade chocolate covered marshmallows. .. need I say more! Ok, well, Solid Chocolate Bars, Truffles, Caramels, and Chocolate Dipped Candied Orange Peel, that should suffice anyone. Overall Rating: 5 Stars — It is as good as it gets for chocolate!

Walked in here and felt welcome right away. The girl who worked here was so fun, cheerful, and helpful. She gave us a bunch of tips and recommendations on Bisbee. I listened as much as I could because I was distracted by the beautiful chocolate taunting me. I decided to get 4 pieces, but it was so hard deciding which ones. They all looked beautiful. I settled for some flavors that I have never had such as lavender and white chocolate. Delicious! I also got their hot chocolate. If you claim to have the world’s best hot chocolate, then I must try you. It was really good. The rich and creamy chocolate drink was perfect at warming me up. Yum. It is probably a good thing I live far because otherwise I would be visiting this place too often. The prices are good for what you get. This is a quality store and I love the small independent feel of it. One recommendation would be to have some seating available because I would have loved to stick around.

Here’s the deal, I love hot chocolate and this place claimed to have the best in the world. Now, I’ve only traveled to Great Britain(not really known for food), Pakistan(no one here has heard of hot chocolate), and a few states in the United States but I will say this place has the best hot choco in all of those places. It comes in a small 8oz cup and its about 4.75, but its dark chocolate heavy and will fill you up. We also bought 4 candy pieces($ 10) and every bite was savory. The dessert was wonderful, but the nice hip lady that works there was perfectly suited for her job. She gave us the downlow on Bisbee and was very welcoming. This place is a definite must stop if in Bisbee, even if it is a little on the expensive side.

I don’t remember the exact date I discovered this place, but it was towards the end of winter, when my husband and I first discovered Bisbee. We were both amazed and looked forward to coming back. And then, upon our return… we discovered that the place was closed until November. Words cannot express our disappointment.(No, really. They can’t.) The name tells you pretty much everything you need to know. Chocolate, if not exactly lots of it. But that’s not a negative. We’re going for quality over quantity here. They advertise their hot chocolate as «the best in the world», and while I’m not quite willing to accept that claim until I’ve done a *lot* more travelling, I can attest it’s some pretty amazing stuff. They have one size, a kid-size paper coffee mug, and while the price($ 3.50 as of this writing) seems a bit much at first, again, it’s quality — once you’ve finished that cup you’re going to be fully sated. It’s that rich and delicious and smooth. Of similar quality are the truffles; I wholeheartedly second the reviewer who compared the place to a chocolate art gallery. While they might not have the huge selection of a larger store, each single truffle is a work of art and not to be missed. They even made a tequila-based truffle that I loved — me, the person who hates the stuff in anything! Be forewarned, the quality-over-quantity ethos is demonstrated in the shop itself as well — the showroom is small, with almost all the space taken up by the display counter, so it can get cozy when more than a couple groups stop by at once. But I promise that their wares are well worth squeezing into line for.

It’s already open for winter 2010 season. The hot chocolate, as they say in the place, might really be the best in the world. Drinking it is an experience not to be missed! I sampled some of their chocolates, but couldn’t buy them because of my schedule. They are pricey, but among the best you’ll ever eat. Wow.

In a town of art galleries, the Chocoláte shop in Bisbee offers visitors the art of chocolate. The smell of cocao wafts from the kitchen into the front room(BEWARE: there is no way to resist). During my visit, the owner Gordon was working greasing molds. The shops chocolate bars and truffles are made in small batches. The front case is full of beautiful truffles. I especially love the Bisbee After Dark. Samples are offered a plenty, and Gordon was eager to step out of his man behind the curtain role and explain with deep passion the blend of chocolate beans and flavors. Gordon’s enthusiasm is warranted! In the cases are not only beautiful pieces, but he and his wife have spent time with the chocolate from raw bean all the way through the finished product. This is impressive for any chocolate shop, but especially such a small shop. If you aren’t in a rush, take a moment and sip on some hot chocolate. This is a must visit if you are in the area!
