Good burgers, juicy chicken and amazing fries! Just be prepared, you will need many, many napkins… things can get pretty messy here!

Great place for a good burger. But more than that… you gotta taste these garlic Parmesan fries. Worth it just for that

This is my favorite restaurant in town. The atmosphere is fun, and they sometimes have a live band. I always get the teriyaki burger, which has pineapple and grilled onions. The flavor is magnificent, and keeps me coming back. The Parmesan garlic fries are to die for! They are buttery and crispy, and my husband and I love them. Only thing is, make sure you have a lot of napkins ready– the burgers are messy!

Stopped here with my friends and family while on a road trip. We first went to the bakery down the street for the sandwiches but it was closed. We searched for a place and we found out this restaurant is owned by the son of the bakery owner. It was a pleasant experience. Food was great. We had the half rack ribs and they were very good. Super juicy, soft meat fell off the bone. We took in our fresh bread we bought from the bakery down the street and had a fantastic dinner. We will definitely stop by again on our next road trip.

Had dinner here last night. I had hot wings and a garden salad. My wife had the Reuben sandwich. Food portions were very generous. The wings were all very plump drumsticks with Carolina spicy sauce. Very tasty. The garden salad was huge, with all fresh ingredients. It was the largest salad I’ve ever had. The Reuben was average. The only negative was that they require you order and pay for food and drinks at the register, then they give you a number and your order is brought to your table. That seems a bit inefficient for the diner. However, a waiter came by and took additional orders from at the table. At the end, I had to go back to the register to settle my bill. We had a couple of beers, good selection of draft beers on hand. In summary, I would recommend a stop at this place for a good menu selection at a reasonable price. Update: The owner, Aaron just responded to my review and stated they would be full service soon, which would eliminate the need to place orders and pay at the register. If that occurs, I would change my rating to 5 stars.

Came over because of the ridiculously bad service from holy smokes texas bbq. What a blessing that was. The food was delicious, service was awesome, and the live band was great. Will return on our next mammoth trip

My family and I stumbled upon this place while looking for a quick lunch before heading back home to San Diego. What a pleasant surprise! We had the BBQ chicken salad, the Knuckle sandwich, grilled cheese and rotisserie half chicken with ranch beans and potato salad. Every single thing was great! It’s so unusual for everyone to be happy, but we all certainly left there feeling happy and content. We had to get to go boxes because the portions were so big. We will stop here from now on when we are in Bishop or in Mammoth for that matter. Better food and literally half the cost than ANY Mammoth restaurant. Highly recommend this place.

We were craving a burger and this place hit the SPOT! We wanted something within walking distance and the reviews on their burgers sounded great, they did not disappoint! We both opted for the Texas Walker Ranger… bacon, cheddar, grilled onions… YUMMM! We ordered them medium & medium rare, cooked to perfection, the buns were soft and delicious. I liked the décor of the place, plenty of seating as well and they have entertainment in the evening but the guy was setting up as we left at about 4:30. We will definitely be coming here again next time we’re in town!

I have had a lot of lunches and dinners there over the past 8 weeks and met the owner and his wife a couple of times. The place is good and hosts nice people. So here’s the experience: I like the 805 draft beer, rotisserie chicken at $ 12.95 is my premier choice, great flavour with a side of cole slaw and beens. Rib eye steak also very nice at $ 26.95, great taste with french fries, medium rare with salt & pepper. Ribs nice and fall of the bone tender and flavourful with nice bbq sauce. Milk shakes must be very good but I never tried, why have it when there is beer? Couscous salad also looks nice but I never tried and probably never will. Cooking happens in front of you which I like — it’s a clean and efficient environment. Staff very very friendly — sometimes band music, athmosphere is roadhousy with 2TV screens showing sports games. In Bishop it’s always a very good choice for a family or individual meal.

I read some great reviews about this spot and looked forward to checking out… Overall, Unfortunately I was disappointed. There was a line to order as was to be expected at such a popular spot. The live musician was good also. The food arrived in a decent time and the servers were ok. We heard great things about the chicken salad, garlic Parmesan Fries and burgers. I had the Walker Texas Ranger? burger… It was decent… The fries were ok too. The rotisserie chicken was unfortunately disappointing — lacking taste. It was also not cooked long enough as there were a few moist and bloody spots. The coleslaw was bland. The corn salad was good. The bbq chicken salad was also disappointing after rave reviews. I am not saying this was a bad experience so do try it as it is decent hence why I’m giving 3 stars…

We are here on our way into Mammoth, About 1:00 pm on a Wednesday. We had the bbq burger and a chicken salad. Both were delicious and fresh. You can really tell they grind their own meats daily. The chicken salad was equally amazing with great flavor! We will be back!

This place is a definite must stop in Bishop! We shared the Walker Texas Ranger burger and it was delicious! Buns are from the Schat’s Bakery baked fresh daily. Or other dish was ½ rotisserie chicken. OMG mouth watering! Portions are good size. Burger & chicken were almost too much for 2 of us. Child’s burger is more like a slider so if your child can eat better off getting a regular burger. Garlic Parmesan fries are REALLY garlicky. Delicious but definitely full of garlic flavor. Finished off dinner with a chocolate shake. YUM! This place has a decent selection if wine. Beets on draft & in the bottle. I was excited they even serve«Not Your Father’s Rootbeer»!! This is a new family favorite on the way to Mammoth. Open Thurs-Tues. A must go!

Delicious burgers, pulled pork, fries and massive shakes. Big portions. They had rotisserie chickens cooking that looked delicious, I’d like to go back! Staff was super friendly and helpful. I liked the way it’s set up, ordering at front, getting a number, taking a seat and then someone brings you food. Sodas and condiments are self serve. They have beer and wine. Everything was great but I wish they had more choices for kids, Hot Dogs would be a good choice, our daughter didn’t like her grilled cheese but everything else was perfect. We loved the big screen t.v.‘s and the feel of the restaurant, I think you call it «Steam Punk». They have a stage set up too so it would be a great spot when they have live music. Highly recommend this spot.

Schat’s Roadhouse is related to Shat’s Bakery. Both places are good. My pops and I were taking the short drive back to Reno from LALA land. Not wanting to go to the same places we always stop at, we decided on the Roadhouse. This place is huge! Being a Tuesday afternoon(11-10-2015), it wasn’t busy. Plenty of parking and nearly no line inside. This was our first time here and once you know how this place works, it won’t feel as awkward as it did. Most sit down restaurants, as this appears, have the patrons either greeted or walk to a host station to be seated. My dad and I stood at the front door, not long, and fortunately, were greeted by an employee who told us to take a menu and place our order up front. Ahh, now we knew how it worked! (A suggestion to Aaron, Put up a sign in that walk way with menus. The sign should instruct patrons to take a menu and walk up front to an «Order Here» sign.) We took the paper menu and decided what we wanted and ordered. I ordered the Turkey Gobbler on Sheepherder bread. Nothing on the menu noted if the sandwich was served hot or cold. My dad ordered the Ranch Hand which sounded like it was served hot as it stated it was lightly grilled, wrapped in a tortilla. We were obliged to order the garlic Parmesan fries!!! These fries had to be ordered. Hey, they have three great things on them. 1. Fries! 2. Parmesan Cheese! 3. GARLIC! Drinks are self serve. The service was decent. Not slow at all. When the food arrived, it looked nice. Not what I was expecting, but nice. Once I picked up the sandwich, I was a bit disappointed that it wasn’t hot. But, a cold turkey sandwich is good too. But, the fries were something else. Served burning hot, still glistening with scorching oil sealed in with a sprinkle of Parmesan and a good dose of garlic. The environment of the restaurant felt sterile. The interior is large, the booths/tables were spread out with large empty spaces. High ceilings and dark walls only added to a cool feel. I suppose that would be find if it were 90 outside, but it was a cold day. — — — — — — — — — Bottom Line Yes, I/we will be coming back to the Roadhouse again! I feel that there are other items on their menu that need to be eaten and an opinion given onto them. As far as The Gobbler goes, I would create another section of the menu, dedicated to cold sandwiches and put The Gobbler into it. But, create another section of hot sandwiches and use the same Sheepherder bread, grilled on both sides with Parmesan. Call it the Bishop Melt or Schat’s Turkey Herder. I don’t know, those things just popped into my head. But those fries were awesome!

It’s the tastiest looking place in the area. BBQ and Burgers, Roadhouse, and the Schat’s name — just try and keep me away. For lunch, my partner in crime & I went with the full slab of Pork Ribs($ 26) with 2 sides(beans and potato salad). The ribs left much to be desired. They had a smokiness that was just off and strange — needless to say, I didn’t like much.(2.5 stars) – Side Potato Salad: 4.0 stars – Side Beans: 4.5 stars After I sat down with my counter order, I saw what everyone else ordered. Better off getting their massive turkey sandwich, a burger, and a monstrous salad. No one had ribs. I don’t get the Disney artwork on the walls, but the rest of décor is way cool. Go again? Maybe. .
