I have tried so hard to really like this place and give them a few chances but i honestly have to say I am disappointed. I live close by so I have walked over about 3 – 4 times and left with the same impression of them each time. The lay out in this restaurant is horrible, during lunch time you don’t know who has been helped or who needs to order. Customer service here is terrible, I had questions about whether something had nuts in it or not and the response was«I don’t know» I’m sorry but this is a serious question as its life threatening to me. Wouldn’t you go ask someone else??? I mean come on, are you that lazy you can’t walk 500 ft and ask whoever baked it? Another thing that annoys me is they are always sold out of the bread/cookie of the day, I can understand this would be expected by late afternoon but this has been before noon. Wouldn’t this be a clue to step up your production? Why would you sample something that you are sold out of, kind of seems to me you guys clearly don’t understand the concept of running a business. The sandwiches here are just ok, nothing special. I hate places that don’t understand what a combo is. How hard would it be to offer customers a sandwich, chips and a drink or even include a pickle with sandwiches. Due to the lack of customer service and friendliness I am not sure I’ll return or recommend this place to others. It’s sad because I gave you three chances and I’m tired of expecting it to be a great experience.

I really want to like this place. It’s close, so I can walk there. It smells great. What they offer sounds good. Pictures look good. Both times I’ve stopped by, however, it’s been well before noon, and the bread of the day/cookie of the day is gone, sold out, none left. The other part that was a turn off – how disorganized it felt. People were just standing around with no way to differentiate who had ordered and who had not. The board was not updated, and the bread racks were mostly empty. The one time I did get something to try it was a piano cookie. The only reason that this happened was that another customer had called and placed two on hold to pick up. For some reason the staff interpreted this to mean two dozen, when it was fairly clear that the customer wanted two cookies. No big deal… we bought two as well. Since a piano cookie isn’t a standard pastry item, I asked what was in it. I got a blank stare and a trailing, «umm…». I also asked if there were nuts in it. Again, the person helping me wasn’t sure. The cookie was good, I guess, but mostly unremarkable. For some reason, I still really want to like this place. Maybe it’s because there is almost no bakery competition in this town. I’ve decided that maybe I’m just getting there too late. Hopefully if I show up at opening there will be an ample selection. Fingers crossed!

Another Bismarck gem! Came for lunch and got a delicious turkey sandwich with green apples on it — totally refreshing and surprising. It’s located in what looks like an industrial side street — on street parking is tight and the front of the building doesn’t stand out much. Thinking this might be on purpose — most customers were definitely locals. Creative variety of sandwiches on homemade breads — they also sell loaves of home made bread/baked goods. Our neighboring table was raving about the soup as well. Didn’t try any cookies or pastries… but just might the next time!

We have family in ND so we’re here a couple times per year. On most visits, we eat wonderful treats from Bread Poets. Today was my first time actually going in to get something myself. We got a cinnamon log, scones(these were cinnamon/chocolate but they make others) and a loaf of bread. As usual all the treats were wonderful. The inside is cute and the service is friendly. They offered us some samples too — we each had a slice of strawberry rhubarb bread. That was really good too. I’d highly recommend this place.

Great bread! I have tried their multigrain, different scones and cinnamon log and all are great but not quite excellent. I was told to come at 8:00AM when the bread is fresh out the oven. Maybe then I will upgrade to 5 stars. I wish they had better coffee to go with the bread but in all fairness, they are a bakery, not a coffee shop.
