Waitress called my wife fat. Didn’t get the toast we ordered. Burger was generic store-bought patty, tasteless. Fries looked and tasted like frozen Ore-Ida baked in an oven, underdone and boring. Chicken fried steak was dry. Don’t bother.

Stopped for lunch during the week and the Santa Fe burger was delicious! Will be back.

Unfortunately, this place wasn’t what we wanted in a small town eatery. Service was lousy. No refills without regular requests by us, took forever to get the food(the waitress told us this was because the cooks were having trouble heating the grill), and the food was ok, but did not make up for everything else(most was not made fresh, I don’t think. Good free beans, though.

Now that is some amazing catfish! Wow! I recommend the catfish to everyone. I’ve been a few times, and all their food is great. Pretty good lil bar too.

One of the best burgers I have ever had! Service is always great and can’t miss the Texas charm. Highly recommend if you need a place to stop at off 281.

Good traditional country food at reasonable prices. The staff is very friendly, fast and great every time we go in. The complimentary beans are good so don’t pass these up. We’ve had several of the dishes and have not been disappointed.

Don’t waste your time and money. Food wasn’t great and service was non-existent. Got our food and didn’t see the waitress again until we were ready to leave. Missing food from our order and no refills.

Beans were good, and you help yourself. 4 of us had some of the beans and beers, Ordered dinner but 30 min went by so we paid for our beers and went to the bowling club café across the square.

The catfish was very good, as were the sides. The pot of pinto beans as a starter was something different, and they were very good as well. The service was a little slow, but friendly.

Catfish and shrimp were great! The family had burgers and they were also impressed. We will definitely drive back here from San Antonio just to eat at this restaurant.

I’m surprised people rated oak creek 3 stars. I like Mario’s pollo and the Texan burger. Free beans are always good. They serve crinkly fries which are the best fries. I’ve never had a problem here. Sometimes they’re a little slow, but they’re always friendly.

Nice ambiance, friendly staff, great food. Had the Reuben with a glass of Señor Viejo by Twisted X(12% APV in a cool little 8oz. beer snifter.) A great combination! The Reuben($ 6.99) was fresh and hot. Sauerkraut was full of flavor if slightly damper than I prefer.(Made the bread a bit soggy but otherwise delicious!) Girlfriend had the ribeye($ 14.99) with grilled broccoli and beer battered onion rings. She smiled as she bit into the streak so it must’ve been good!

Wow. It took almost 30 minutes to take my order and almost an hour to get my ‘okay’ catfish plate to me. I just sat and watched people come in and out and felt ignored sitting at a table by the bar the whole time. I was way late getting back to San Antonio just because of this awful service. Skip this place if possible.

A very charming and clean country diner with a bar. They also have a front porch, which is where we sat. The staff are friendly and efficient. Their specialty is all you can eat catfish. We opted not to do that as they won’t let you share, and, the plate starts with five fillets. A bit too much. I don’t like to waste food or money. It was a beautiful day so we sat on the porch which gives a view of the main road and the old Courthouse/Bank/Hospital. We ordered the BLT and Club, both come with potato chips, but, sidekick had to order a basket of fries. First I’ll start with the fries. They were frozen crinkle cuts. I’m not a fry person. I do enjoy a good crunchy one when I happen upon one, but, I don’t go seeking. Sidekick is the one that complained about the fries. IMO they sucked. But, to have him flag the waitress over and tell her something was wrong with them was serious. She was nice and comped them. They tasted like maybe they had been refrozen and fried in some old oil. Sidekick liked his BLT, no complaints and he ate it all. As for my club? It was just ok. I’ve had much better. It was decent size and all but the bacon was minus flavor and the mayo was a bit much. I think I ordered the wrong thing here. They also have burgers on the menu along with shrimp and chicken fried stuff. Your typical menu for a joint like this. I would eat here again, but, not do the club. I would go for the catfish or a burger, I think that may be a better alternative.

This joint is a solid three stars: decently attentive staff, average food, large portions for the prices, and your food is on the table quickly. The atmosphere is casual, country décor, but has horrible acoustics. In addition, it was freezing outside AND in the restaurant!!! Brrrr! Everyone was still wearing their coats inside! Turn up the heat, Oak Creek!!!

Whether your here with a large family like mine or an intimate date night, you have to visit this eatery. The ribeye was perfectly cooked for my picky palette. No steak sauce was needed to mask the flavor as it was seasoned with that«Texas twist.» On the other hand, the lightly breaded shrimp was bland and ordinary.

We’ve been meaning to come here for a long time and finally dropped in on our drive from liberty hill to SA tonight. It’s a cute little restaurant. Simple, but clean and cozy. The catfish was great. Thicker cuts but thin enough that they curled on the ends a bit and got crispy on the outside. These filets are farm raised in Texas. No catfish from China here and that is awesome! My husbands burger was juicy and he seemed to really like it. He liked the green chili on the burger. Sweet tea was good. Onion rings were slightly greasy but tasty. The silver wear was kind of cheap feeling. My baked potato was not done inside so my fork bent when I tried to mash it up. And the beans everyone raves about were almost gone so we got the bottom of the crock. I was never offered a straw with my Pepsi, which should be standard, but not a big deal. For those things I took off a star. Truthfully, I wish I could give 4.5 stars but Unilocal won’t let me do that sooooo… 4 stars. Check them out. You’ll like it! Nice staff! We’ll be back for sure!

Heard about this place on Unilocal and wanted to give it a try. They offer everything from shrimp to chicken fried steak. I had to try the chicken fried steak while others in the party all got Texas Burgers. The burgers came out hot and fresh and were HUGE. The chicken fried came out, and I was disappointed as soon as I saw it. The chicken fried is prebreaded and frozen. After eating my wife’s chicken fried, this is a real let down. However, I have to say that they did the best they could with what they had. Gravy with lots of pepper cures some flavorless food. Would I go back? Not for the chicken fried steak. Those eating the burgers said they were good, so I would like to try that. Also, I want to go back and try the catfish. When I do, I’ll let you know the results.

It’s the standard small town café with a catfish twist. My friend seemed to like his chicken fried steak and my burger was more than acceptable. The fries were standard frozen crinkle cut, but still good. The service was friendly and quick. All in all, a standard small town café.
