A lovely setting on top of a hill overlooking the old Harbor. The service is excellent in all phases, and everyone is warm and welcoming. The tapas menu is suberb, and enjoying it while seated on the front lawn in front of an incredible view of sky and Harbor is incredible, and worth the extra cost of staying here. The dinner menu is good, and the hotel just started a vegetarian menu that we sampled; the dinner was excellent. The rooms are small but very clean, and the wifi is very spotty. Bring your bikes and have fun.

My husband and I stayed at the Atlantic Inn for our anniversary, and what a beautiful place! The room was really cute, furnished with antiques, and a bathroom with all the amenities. The woman that checked us in(and out the next day) was super nice, and was able to answer any questions about Block Island as well as point us in the right direction for mopeds. We had dinner that night at the Atlantic Inn’s dining room, and it was absolutely delicious. The wait staff was super nice and knowledgeable about the menu and any wine pairings needed. Breakfast was included, and since they employ students from the culinary institute, the pastries were wonderful! If you get a chance to stay at the Atlantic Inn, we would highly recommend it!

Amazing little gem I never knew existed on Block Island. The hotel ended up with a last minute cancellation and I was able to get a room for 2 nights at the end of August. The hotel has a lot of character and it is a nice little peaceful retreat from all the Old Harbor activities. The hotel has an amazing view, courteous staff and let me tell you DELISH tapas… so good we had to come back the second night for the truffled Mac and cheese fritters along with the peel and eat shrimp. Really enjoyed the hospitality, the view and the food! Will be back next year!

Love that they handed us blankets as we walked onto the grass as the evenings tend to get chilly. The staff was so super attentive and nice. Beautiful views, starry skies, cold Westheimer brews and perfectly shareable Lobster Sliders made for a wonderful, low key evening. The white kitty that kept us company on the lawn was a bonus but do keep in mind she has a sophisticated palate and prefers her lobster with no mayo.

We had dinner there over 12 years ago, was great. On 6⁄24 dinner was very disappointing, meat raw not medium, my wifes appetizer was much too smoky, did not mention it on menu. To top it off they double billed my credit card. The only positive to this place is having a drink on the veranda, but then view to ocean has been partially blocked due to new construction. We remember an open view that was beautiful. Would not come back here again. Lee M. Emerson, N.J.

The family celebrated our matriarch’s 90th birthday with a dinner for 25, and we were extremely happy with every aspect. Food was top-notch. Servers were all friendly and expert. Despite having had a wedding the day before which kept the pastry chef too busy to do a cake for us, the Atlantic Inn got a cake we all loved from a bakery on the island. Brad was very helpful(and patient!) in the planning process and chose great wines for us. Although it was not cheap, the price was a good value, too, in our opinion. They came through for us in every way and we would go back without hesitation.

The Atlantic Inn is a quaint, charming and very old fashioned inn on a beautiful piece of land with a beautiful view of the town, the water, and the rolling hills of BI. Head out to the lawn just before sunset and order yourself a cocktail — this place boasts the best seats in town to watch the sun going down. The inn itself is very old, and doesn’t seem to have been updated(save for electricity and plumbing) since it was built. While the rooms are quite small, they are comfortable, although on a breezy September night, our room was so stifling I can’t imagine what it would be like in the heat of July or August. When I say old fashioned, I mean it – they don’t book online. You have to call to reserve your room and then send a check within a week, or you’ll lose the room. You can give them a credit card over the phone, but they’ll charge you a fee and then run it through one of those hand-operated imprinting devices. How 1985! There are also no phones or TVs in the rooms. No AC, either. The inn is clean, the staff is sweet and the complimentary breakfast decent. The restaurant is pretty good, too and worth making a reservation at for at least one meal during your stay. I would definitely stay here again!

Whether you’re looking for a upscale dinner or tapas and cocktails out on the lawn, the atlantic is a great option. I’ve also stayed at the hotel and had a wonderful experience. The entire staff is knowledgeable and helpful. The food is amazing and the wine list is great as well. Try the chefs specialty menu — it’s 4 courses for $ 52 and perfectly portioned.

Ok, first we stayed here due to so many positive reviews. For a hotel that charges +$ 300/night for the tiniest room on the top floor perhaps they could have had someone help with the luggage? After all there is no elevator. Perhaps they could have had a small hair conditioner bottle along with the shampoo in the bathroom? Perhaps they could invest in a decent quality mattress so we might not toss and turn all night? Perhaps some kind of small amenity in the room like a coffee maker? — I realized with the paper thin walls a TV was never an option. The complete lack any type of privacy from sound in your room was another issue I won’t bother going into detail on why but anyone walking buy can hear even the slightest noise coming from your room or the one next door. Perhaps they could clean the cups, glasses, dishes etc from the night before and breakfast from the porch and lawn area with some frequency rather than have them on display all day? Perhaps we could relax with a drink on the porch earlier than 4:30 in the afternoon when they start service? We’ve stayed at many quaint old New England hotels so we do not expect Ritz Carlton service but for the price this was well below the standards of any of these types of hotels we have stayed at before and I would suggest doing a lot of research on where you stay prior to coming to block island.

The Atlantic Inn is located a short uphill hike from town. I mention the hill because the hill is key to its location. In the evenings when the sun goes down tables and chairs are set up on the front lawn, all overlooking the hill. The view is beautiful, quiet, peaceful and very New England preppy-like. I say very New England preppy-like because you’ll feel like the person sitting next to you could very well be somebody from the Kennedy clan(of JFK fame). You don’t have to book a room to enjoy this Block Island classic. You can easily grab a few drinks at the bar or eat in the wonderful dining room. Everyone is welcome(Although if you’re wearing a t-shirt or sandals you probably won’t be welcomed. That’s understandable because it’s not THAT type of place). Although I didn’t find their menu overly impressive, what I ordered was both terrific and reasonably priced. The portion sizes were fine and I didn’t walk away hungry. The cheese plate and frickles(deep fried pickles) were both top notch. My only qualms with the place is its staff. It’s not that they were awful. They weren’t. It’s just the attitude they carried was that they didn’t give a #%@. OK I get that the staff has to put up with tourists every day of the week. I get it. I worked at a ski resort myself for one year and dealt with tourists every day. But that’s what I signed up for and that’s what they signed up for too. Even though they may not care they should act like they care. Earlier in the day, I had been at the Beach Head and the staff at the Atlantic could learn a thing or two from the crew at the Beach Head. I seriously mean that. The Beach Head staff was falling all over me to made me feel like I was truly welcomed. Overall it’s a five star experience(speaking for the restaurant) with one star subtracted for the careless and apathetic wait staff.

Cocktails, cheese plate and sunset at The Atlantic Inn. Oh my! This is one of those«must do’s» every time I’m on Block Island. Its fun with family and friends. The staff is always attentive. The food and drinks hit the spot and the view is spectacular! Add it to your sunset list.

Stayed here to attend a Dogfish Head beer dinner. The old school charm is apparent once you walk in the door. It’s traditional New England through and through. The staff were pleasant and on point during happy hour on the deck… always a challenge when you have comings and goings of guests. The dinner itself was spectacular… their chefs did an amazing job pairing the food and the 6 different styles of beer. The rooms are comfortable… as an fyi, there are no televisions in the rooms or AC… but with the breeze off the ocean it was very comfortable, even after a very hot day. I would definitely stay here again!

Stayed for two nights next door at The Spring House and wanted to stay one more night. Called The Atlantic and booked the last room. The lawn/porch service late afternoon into evening was incredible; the views, the sunset, the appetizers and drinks! Every person working there was professional and unassuming. Had dinner in the small bar and the wonderful food continued. We wanted to finish our night on the porch and we were very pleased to be offered a blanket! Our room was ok, but it was sold to us a «moderately sized», so we were not surprised. Overall a fantastic stay. A new find for us on BI, we will be back.

Great location a few blocks from the hustle and bustle of Old Harbor, very clean, wonderful staff, gorgeous view, nice continental breakfast included, excellent evening tapas and drinks on the porch and front lawn. You cannot beat this view; being up the hill you have a bit of a walk from the center of town but that makes it a restful place to enjoy. The room was comfortable, very clean, with up to date décor that compliments the Inn. We met people who come to Block Island often and don’t stay anywhere else because of how lovely it is.

I always consider this second to The Spring House, but there’s really no reason for that. Inventive cocktails and interesting nibbles to be enjoyed in adirondack chairs on their hilltop perch. I have one really special memory here of hanging out w/my friend and her then 2 ½ year old daughter who was singing and generally enjoying herself. As dusk fell and it turned chilly a kind waitress came out w/a blanket for the little one… we got to relax a little longer while she slept snugly on her mom’s lap.

**review of the hotel** My first trip to the Island was a mini-honeymoon, we stayed at the Atlantic Inn and were thrilled beyond words. The rooms are gorgeous, with a very romantic victorian atmosphere, the view is lovely and we admired the sunrise over the ocean from our room every morning. The staff was adorable and provided aloe vera for our unexpected sunburn(we went in September). The best part: home made pastries every morning. Different kinds every morning! Delicious!!! Served in the beautiful sun porch. We can’t wait to go back!!! It feels like home.

We came here during our block island experience & really had a nice experience. We had decided to have dinner there but in the future we would’ve stayed on the porch for apps & dessert; the menu looking amazing. For dinner I had the pre fixe which included two apps, an entrée, and dessert. I started with the potato leek soup which was tremendous. The presentation was great with whole cooked hazelnuts in the soup. The second app was the seafood stew which was meh. Sort of bland & more like a soup with a thin broth than a nice stew. My husband started with the mango glazed duck which was on top of a tamale stuffed with some kind of squash, amazing. In his words«it’s the best app I’ve had out here». For the Entrée, I had the wagyu flank steak with Brussels sprouts, grilled onions(sort of) and a squash purée. It was very good although the meat was chewy. My husband had the lobster which didn’t work. It had so many components on the plate that it all didn’t work together. Dessert was had on the porch, watching an amazing sunset. We were even offered blankets if we got cold which was a nice touch. Our dessert was a dark chocolate tart with vanilla ice cream. Very rich but very good. The wait staff was very attentive. I would def come back but probably just to eat the smaller dishes and watch the sunset.

Its confirmed. After spending another week on Block this year and eating at every restaurant on island(except Eli’s), I can honestly say this is hands down, the BEST restaurant on the island. However, diners beware – the menu is not your average american fare. Expect squid ink pasta, whole fried prawn soup, foie gras and a dominican breakfast. The chef is awesome and super friendly – don’t be afraid to ask to meet him while you’re there.

I’ve never stayed here, but aside from Winfields, it’s the only other restaurant on island that might justify packing heels. That said, with a sundress and flipflops you won’t feel out of place. My favorite thing to do here is to watch the sunset on the lawn and get some hors d’oeuvres/tapas with a glass of wine and good company. Though things can quickly get pricy, there are few things more relaxing and luxurious. Sometimes the service on the lawn can be a little patchy, but you’re there to lazily pick at peel-and-eat shrimp and sip some bubbly, not to get in and get out. The restaurant itself is about as fancy as you’ll find on-island, and the entrees usually live up to expectation. Absolutely worth a visit.
