The butterfat content and mouthfeel of this ice cream is good. I tried the toasted almond and the mint chocolate chip. The almond flavor and the mint flavor were strong, perhaps too strong. This ice cream costs about $ 1 less for a small scoop than other places that I have been. If I am in the area, I will try this place again.

Great ice cream and reasonable prices. There can be extremely long lines so I’d go somewhere else instead of waiting. Picnic tables are nice for watching the farm animals.

I wanted to like Bloom Hill Farm but it was pretty underwhelming. It’s a cute setting, seems family friendly, and provides a cute outdoor set up of picnic tables for patrons to enjoy their frozen treat after purchasing. Unfortunately, it was a total let down for me. The ice cream just wasn’t that good. The list of flavors was not one bit interesting or exciting so I went with two fruit flavors that I cannot even remember right now because they were so boring. And trust me, this is not a problem with my memory. I can remember the Almond Joy ice cream from Emack & Bolio’s in Wellfleet, MA on a vacation at least half a decade ago. And it’s not a matter of the fruit flavors because I had two fruit flavors from Arethusa Farms recently that changed the way I look at fruit flavors forever because they blew my mind(Thank you, Arethusa Farms). It’s not often that I say this about ice cream but… this is really not worth the calories.

This place is somewhat overlooked compared to other summer ice cream stands, which I can’t say I mind as it cuts down on the crowds. First, their ice cream is very good… lots of choices and toppings. Add in the convenient location, nice setting with farm animals, big parking lot and plenty of places to sit and enjoy your ice cream, and it becomes one of those stops you find yourself making several times over the course of the summer.

I enjoy supporting small businesses and farms, and love trying different ice creams; however, the Bloom Hill Farm does not scoop the best I have tasted. This farm has the typical ice cream flavors, with a couple of unique flavors like rum raisin and lemon. I believe the ice cream is actually Praline’s brand ice cream, not homemade. I tried a few flavors including the praline’s and cream, all pretty decent, but decided to try a coffee milkshake. Unfortunately, it was not very good. It had a very heavy and strong coffee flavor, as though the coffee syrup – which was not tasty in any way – was poured in heavily. I could not take more than two sips, and a bad taste was left in my mouth. I had to take a couple of licks of my friend’s praline’s and cream scoop to get the taste out. The prices were also slightly high, notably milkshakes that ranged around $ 7. Though there were these shortcomings, the workers were very friendly, kind, and willing to allow me to sample a flavor if I wanted to. Sadly, I will not be returning to Bloom Hill Farm despite its friendly staff because the ice cream and shakes did not dazzle my tastebuds.

Heaven on earth! The ice cream selection is plentiful and if you’re one who likes soft serve, they also have that available. But my first recommendation is to go for the real deal! As a child, I loved grape nuts and ice cream but whoever thought of putting it together was an absolute genius! You have to try the grape nut ice cream if you like this cereal. Other favorites include the lemon pie, strawberry, chocolate nightmare and pretty much every other flavor. :) There is parking available and plenty of picnic tables to sit and enjoy your flavorful treat. If you’re lucky, you’ll hear/see the peacock that’s at this farm. Don’t forget your cash though, they don’t accept credit cards.

Yum yum yum. If you’re choosing between homemade ice cream and generic mass produced ice cream(like Ben and Jerry’s), definitely come here. This place is so tasty. They have a variety of flavors. My current favorite is their pistachio. They’re closed for the winter but they will re-open in the spring :) Just look for the sign out front along the road!

Best ice cream ever. Try the Lemon Pie ice cream. Have to come a few times each summer, when my brother visits with his children from Michigan this is alway a stop on the to-do list for his visit.

This place is great! We love to come here with the kids. We bribe them if we have to go to Lowe’s :) The ice cream is really good, huge servings. The sundaes are great. The service is great, the family who runs it is very sweet. The only bad thing: CASHORCHECKONLY! They’d have 5 stars from me for sure if they took debit or credit cards! Get a square reader and an ipad, it’d be so simple! You don’t know how many times we’ve pulled in to the lot and thought, «Crud! No cash on us!» And had to skip ice cream or if we were desperate turn around and run down to the CVS for cash from the ATM, which is just a pain. You can write a check but we rarely have a checkbook on us either.

Very cute ice cream store. I had a scoop of the toasted almond and it was awesome. It had a nice creamy texture, lots of nuts and a great flavor. They also have soft serve, shakes and sundaes. Someone got a mint chocolate chip cone and I had serious envy, it looked so good. I didn’t want to spoil my dinner so i only got one scoop but I will have to try the mint cc soon. There are 5 – 6 picnic tables so you can sit and enjoy your treat on a gorgeous day.

The best ice cream store in Connecticut! They have great prices(less than $ 3 for one scoop in a cone), fast service, and delicious ice cream flavors. Their scoops are very generous, a small is MORE than plenty. My two favorites are pistachio and toasted almond. Both are filled with plenty of whole nuts so that the flavor really comes out. It is good quality ice cream, great for families and couples. AND… it’s on a farm. You used to be able to walk to the back, but I think they are remodeling now. If you look really hard you will see the goat and the peacock.

After a day of lawn mowing, tree pruning, and landscaping in tropical temperatures, we were so ready for a frozen treat. We hit Bloom Hill Farm after a quick trip to Loew’s. Very nice place indeed. Twenty-eight types of hard ice cream or yogurt, plus soft serve, tons of toppings, shakes, sundaes, even a frozen treat for your poochie — Vanilla ice cream on a dog bone !. I never saw Blueberry Schnapps on any ice cream board before, so of course I had to have me a taste. No booze of course, but a nice mild blueberry ice cream with frozen chips of real blueberries. It was fabulously refreshing. A real nice independent ice cream shop — check it out if you’re in the ‘hood.
