So… I was going to a dinner party last night and I was going to pick up some Jamaican beef patties. On Monday, I called and asked to put a dozen small ones for a Tuesday 5:15 pick-up. When I got there and asked to pick up my order, the girl with attitude asked me if I called the East Hartford location instead. No, I did not. Luckily the guy who took my order admitted that he messed up my order and thought my order was Wednesday. Of course they had no mini patties, but they offered to make if I wait a half hour. Not worth my time. Instead, I bought five big patties, which cost me more than the cost of a dozen mini patties. If I wasn’t so pressed for time, I would have stormed off. They did not give me a break as an apology. Their apology was very insincere and indicative that they had no remorse for the mistake they made. Food-wise, the beef patties are outstanding, but their service is so poor that they do not deserve another star. With other outstanding Jamaican take-out competitors nearby, this Peppers location needs to step up their customer service standards or else their last days will come sooner than planned.

I went in for a brownie and Pattie and I got it with an extra side of attitude… Kindness and superb costumer services produces revenue; I wouldn’t have ladies serving food w faces full of hatred; Looking plain tired n unpleasant and unable to make u feel welcomed. I just don’t get it.

I absolutely love quick snack food for on the go! This is the kind of place in taking about! No need for seating. Quick easy and cheap. I’ve not tried heir dinner or meals there since I’d prefer other places more but I loved the beef patty that I tried here! $ 2.10 for the beef patty. Other options like chicken and vegetable are there as well. Delicious and warm! Flavor had a zing of spices to it which was awesome and much needed when I’m looking for a savory snack. Parking is never an issue since its in a large parking lot. I’d prefer a beef patty any day instead of going to McDonald’s on the opposite side of if its just for a small snack!

3 – 3.5 stars for the food(good food), 1 star for the customer service. They are usually a little slow, but today(01/10/2015 @1:30) was a joke. I walk in — she stands there, I walk up to the counter and stand there for at least 8 – 10 seconds — she’s still standing at a distance staring into space. I wait then turn around to leave. Tell her, «When a customer walks in — acknowledge them, say SOMETHING, just don’t stare off into space. She tells me I need to walk up to the counter first, that’s what I did. Amazing! They lost money today. What is up with some east coast businesses that treat customers like they are doing them a favor just showing up for work?! I live in California and most businesses there are very friendly, this place could use some customer service training. I went to KFC instead.

Used to be much better, food wise. Now the coco bites are hard and shriveled up. Yum. The service has ALWAYS been bad. Most of my friends and coworkers refuse to go here for that reason alone. Never smiling. One word answers to questions. They act like they are doing you a favor. It’s amusing. It sort of reminds me of the Soup Nazi episode from Seinfeld. Everyone is afraid to talk or ask questions. Yes, it’s cheap but there has to be better options. Whomever owns this store really needs to tell their employees to step it up — you are losing a huge amount of business due to the crappy attitudes of your employees.

I was out and about during lunch today, so I figured I would stop in at Peppers. This is a pick up your food and go kind of place — there is no seating, just a counter where you order and can see some of their offerings. I got a beef patty($ 2) and a brownie($ 1). The beef patty was decent, but kind of dried up. The brownie, I regretting getting right away. The worker put one brownie in a bag and then for some reason(which I probably don’t want to know about), removed that brownie from the bag, placed it back on the tray, and selected a different brownie for me. I considered this to be pretty odd. Anyway, I don’t know that I’ll be back here. While the location was convenient for me and there was plenty of parking to be had, I think I would rather travel down Albany Ave to Scott’s for any future beef patties. With all the tastier offerings nearby here, this place needs to step up their game.

I have been coming here for years(since I was a little kid). The food is always consistently good. I know that some complain about the food sitting in the case too long, but I still think the food is good. The customer service(as mentioned in other posts) is lacking. They really don’t smile often, but seeing as it isn’t a sit down and eat kind of place, who cares? I grab my food and go. No big deal.

Hmph. Due to a recent affinity for Jamaican offerings, I had to try this place out as I had walked by numerous times on my way to Stop and Shop. However, i was a little disappointed. Came around 8:30pm on a tuesday night and they had already run out of the standard rice so we were given plain white. The jerk chicken had a good spice, but the spices didn’t taste absorbed into the chicken as I’ve been accustomed. It tasted, and looked, as if they had just given a piece of chicken a quick coat of jerk seasoning. But not to be completely negative, we got a large plate, and boy was it LARGE. The weight on it was extremely generous, especially for the price point. The plates also came with plantains, I’m not the biggest fan of plantains but its nice that they’re included! Overall, i think you can hop step over to hartford and find some better Jamaican food, but this certainly does the job.

Pretty decent quick lunch spot if you work around Copaco, but I’m sure there is fresher Jamaican food out there. Beef patties are good, as is the CoCo bread, but Jerk chicken is a bit dry and sold in small portions. Place would probably get a higher rating if it wasn’t for how unresponsive the staff is. The people working the front of the restaurant just look like they hate their lives at all times and, like a fellow reviewer said, it’s like pulling teeth to find out if a) they have something, or b) what it’s made of.

Swung by today to give them another chance in a limited role. I bought one beef pattie and one chicken pattie– they were just 2 bucks each. The verdict? Well they were both good– they seemed fresh, the fillings were good, the pastry shell was soft and flaky and didnt crumble when I cut off a piece. Everything was quite satisfactory and tasted fine. The chicken was pretty mild, and the beef had some zip to it. I had a bad experience here a few months ago when I bought a medium plate of their jerk chicken and ended up heaving the bony mess into the trash pail. The patties were good, so maybe I’ll try them again for an entrée. I upped their rating one star because of the patties, at least for the way they were prepared and sold today.

Yes, the folks are not the nicest, but the food is good. I always visit when I am in town and get food to bring back home to VA.

This has got to be among the worst food you could possibly put into your body. Are you bothered by annoying guests from out of state? Bring them here to eat… every day. It will wear down their morale until they never want to come back to Connecticut. The food is always way too old to be safely eaten. Dried up coco bread and fossilized beef patties with scabby beef that leaked and then dried up around the edges. Sure it’s only, like $ 3, but you could buy a whole box of the frozen dealies at Walmart and nuke them for a more appetizing meal at a quarter of the price per serving. Wet, molten on the outside still frozen in the middle Walmart patties are not only more appetizing but taste better, too. Also, fun fact, the people who work here hate you. I don’t care who you are… they hate you. They never make eye contact. I’ve been reprimanded for asking for change so I could leave a tip(big mistake: tipping only makes the problem worse). If you ask what something is they’ll give you a one word answer like«dumpling» when they mean to say, «it’s just a ball of bread dough we deep fried and let sit under the heat lamp until it became a brick that will tear your mouth up if you try to eat it». Smiling also seems to make them upset. At first, I thought it was because I was white, but after a few years it’s clear that they only hire people who hate their lives. If you think this is «authentic» or «good» you need to rethink that Unilocal account of yours…

The entrée I bought has sucked for the past few years. Dry rice and peas, bland to poorly seasoned Curry Goat and stale Coco Bread. I will NOT be back there.

In a plaza surrounded by complete garbage(McDonald’s IHOP, Wendy’s, Burger King, althought not the best food for you, it’s the best choice for lunch. Some interesting things to sastisfy hunger. Capaco is pretty low end as far as plazas go, but if you work in the area and want something different, give them a try. Just don’t go their for the customer service.

Authentic Jamaican patties, carrot cake, bread pudding, cookies, bread. Small store– no place to sit down and enjoy all this great stuff; you’ll have to take home!

One of my favorite places to get a quick snack in Bloomfield. Must tries: coco bread, chicken patty, spinach patty, ok really, just try any of the patties, they are all good. The jerk chicken and curry chicken are also pretty tasty. Service is quick, fast, efficient, no fuss.
