Fresh Pandesal. Right out of the oven. My son calls it «softee bread» and he is totally right – it’s warm, soft and pillowy… so easy to eat more than one. Lina’s is a small shop that focuses on typical Filipino cooking staples – sauces, vinegars, canned goods, frozen and fresh items. So if you want to make casava cake – you can pretty much all the ingredients here. Lumpia? they have your wrappers. Filipino spaghetti? They have ready made sauce. There is also a small kitchen and hot food warmer which usually offers about 5 – 6 hot items you can purchase – like longanisa(spicy sweet sausage), dinuguan(blood stew), pinakbet(veggie stew), and another favorite-the BBQ pork sticks. They also have some other baked items brought in from another bakery – like sapin sapin, puto, kuchinta. One Friday night I was hoping to grab dinner here for me and my son and they were out of almost all the hot food. And it was only 5pm! Out of rice too! Wha??? So we settled on the BBQ sticks(grilled to perfection with a sweet sticky glaze) some pandesal and fried tilapia. So If you’re in the mood for something specific, best to call ahead. Friendly service. I like standing in line with all the Lolo’s/Lola’s – they always tell my son he is pogi(handsome).

Came to grab some quick Filipino food for breakfast/brunch. But when we got there they only had four entrée choices and bbq. The lady in the back kitchen saw us waiting to be helped but didn’t help us or say hold on. She waited for a younger lady to serve us. They had like 8 bbq sticks and so we bought them all and the older lady looked angry that we bought them all. I mean shouldn’t she be happy that we are buying her food. But the food was not even okay. It was nothing special at all. And I would not come back ever. I have never felt less appreciated at a restaurant to buy there not even good food as I did today! But maybe she was just haven a bad days everyone has those rights!

I’ve gotten take-out here several times for my Filipina wife. She is often critical of take-out /restaurant food but is always happy with the food from Lina’s…“they are really good cooks”. The store is small… they sell a basic variety of Filipino/Asian grocery items. They have a steam table in the back with 6 entrees and a hot plate with cooked fish(Daing) and BBQ pork on a stick. They also sell some fresh baked breads(my kids love the pan de sal), and some items from other places(I saw cassava from Sariling Atin) there. Entrees vary, but may consist of Sinigang, Nilaga, Caldereta, Bopis, Diniguan, Afritada, etc. A 16 oz. container runs $ 6/$ 7/$ 8 for veggie/chicken&fish/beef, and 32 oz. containers are a little less than double($ 12 for a chicken entrée). 6 pieces of pan de sal will set you back $ 2.50. They have a couple tables to eat at, but I seldom see customers dining in. Service is friendly. I pick up food there any time I’m in the vicinity.

The Pan de sal and Spanish bread is so yummmmy! It just brings you back home, its filipino comfort food. Theres always alot to choose from and its easy and quick to order if you want some home made style freshly fried lumpia. Check this place out and you’ll surely enjoy the food and the breads.

I can only comment on their baked goods and it is unequivocally rated 5 stars. Their spanish bread and pandesal are great! They do not have their baked items displayed, presumably because they can’t keep them on the shelves long enough. A six pack of the spanish bread will not go unconsumed on the way back home. It is THAT good.

Their cooked food is sooooo good. We ordered their BBQ chicken and BBQ Pork. Oh, and I also ordered their freshly baked pandesal. I hear they also sell freshly baked Spanish Bread. I still have yet to try that. I was very imporessed with how they cook their food and will come back. The only downfall I found was that when I got there, they did not have any Pancit left and they did not have any Lumpia. They make those really well there too. Word of advise, call ahead of time to see what they have available so that you do not waste your gas in case they do not have the food you want, if you already know what you want.

Lina’s Filipino Marketplace is a Filipino mini-mini market in a stripmall that sells Asian types of items. I believe this place use to be another name, but the store layout still looks the same. When you walk into the place, it’s pretty small. They try to put as much shelving items in their space. No really, you can’t have two shopping carts through the aisles. They have a lot of canned goods and in the back they have premade Filipino dishes in food warmers to bring home for lunch or dinner. I haven’t had a chance to try them, maybe next time when I’m not in the mood to cook Filipino food. You can also order pans of Filipino dishes as well for your parties. There is also a section to buy freshly baked pandesal(sweet bread rolls). They have a small freezer section full of Filipino type of items from whole fishes, shredded coconut, to desserts like ube ice cream. If you ask for help, they will help you. They won’t come up to you. I get their premade frozen lumpia(finger egg rolls), deep fry them individually frozen until golden brown and crispy SOOOOO good! Don’t forget the sweet and sour sauce. I also buy Knorr Sinigang Tamarind Powder and Kare Kare powder. From time to time, I purchase a bag of sweet rice to make Arroz Caldo(a filipino Congee rice soup), yum. And don’t forget their halo-halo mix for those summer days of this icy dessert treat! It’s an OK place and it’s close by to me so I would only come here if I needed something for my Filipino dishes that I can’t get at the near by Caputo’s.
